Floor Lighting

Good suggestions on LED strips, or something for the floor?

I just ordered a new row of theater seats (Thanks HT Market) and my existing row is being moved to a riser. You enter my room from the back, and the walkway will be that back riser row and the wall...about 3-4 feet wide "aisle"...if you will. I'd like to put those lights on the floor so you can see coming into my room and around the corner.

There are so many LED light strips out there, would love to know what you guys love using.

Thanks!

Bump. Sorry to bump, but there are a lot of options out there, and I'd like to see what some of you use.

I am by no means an expert and like you was struggling with this decision. Here are a couple things I have learned over the last few months. Biggest issue I have seen repeatedly is the snap connectors have a lot of issues, soldering is better. The lights them selves I have seen everything form cheap ones are best to really expensive ones are the only option. I went middle of the road with, all off Amazon, Ledenet power supplies, Mi.Light controllers, and Ledenet RGB Warm White 24v Super Bright LED's. I at this point I have only tested them and they work nice and I like the mi.light app controller. I will be integrating them into my Insteon light scenes as well but that is yet to come.

I look forward to the experts chiming in.

How long is your light run? I'm looking at a 52' run and I'm debating how many low voltage wires I should run to be safe. How did you find out your power supply was constant voltage or constant current?

Also, which Mi. Light controller did you pick up? I'm curious if I need to pick up some Mi.Light controller boxes as well.

Thanks,

Ming

This is great! Thank you so much for your help. Can you validate my plan by any chance? I'd like to run 2 types of lights (UV & warm white lights) and I would like the ability to switch/dim each zone independently:
  • 1x Mi-Light wall panel
  • 4x Mi light controller (each controller only supports 15A. 4 strips of 505 LEDs will draw 20-24As, so I'm buying 2 Mi Light controller for each circuit)
  • 2x LED power supplies (30A / 360W)
  • LED light strips

I will solder & heat-shrink all the wires, so I shouldn't need any fancy connectors. Is there anything that I'm missing?

Sorry macming I was hoping the experts would chime in as this one is above my comfort level.

All good! I found all these products off Aliexpress for very reasonable prices. I'll take the plunge and report my findings!
