I'm surprised Best Buy matched that price.

Normally BB policy with an ad with so many disclaimers is they need to verify that a store actually has a new unit in stock for sale for the price listed before matching it.

Fry's ad states some open box, some demo, limited to stock on-hand, no rainchecks.

Yup he got very lucky. My local Best Buys wouldn't even match the Micro Center $1699 price, they said its way way below cost. Would have loved to get Rewardzone points on it.

For anyone it might help, here's a copy of my BestBuy receipt. It does note at the top of the receipt that it was a price match but it doesn't mention the competitor.

Cheers!

Heck of a deal there. Where'd you pick that up from?

Also, anyone think the 9300 will be one of the deals on the Amazon prime day?

God bless Microcenter.

OLEDs for $1500-1700 ... sheesh.

And I have never had luck with Fry's price matching. There's a decent number of limitations...

Just got Amazon to price match this Micro Center deal! I ordered the TV last week when it dropped to $2299 on Amazon and was bummed to already see a better deal from Micro Tech who isn't on Amazon's list of price match merchants. I called them and spoke to a wonderful customer service rep who placed me on hold to see what she could do for me. They agreed to refund the difference as I have been a loyal customer but they did say this was my one and only time they would make an exception to their policy. Worth trying if you've ordered the TV from Amazon already. If not, just grab it from Micro Tech! You can put the coupon in online and place the order for pick up at your local store. Can't wait to get this TV!!!!!!

If only MicroCenter had a larger footprint

It's a pretty small chain.

Just picked up a 55EC9300 at Micro Center. Looks like they replenish their supply frequently.

Also, using the discount code online, brought the price down to $1699 - know that some other folks only had it bring it down to $1799.

Amazon Warehouse has 15% off the final price today if you are a Prime member. I saw a 55EG9600 for 2900 Used Like New(Only box had damage). This was at 3AM CST, so its long gone but might want to keep a lookout there.

Odd. I was browsing @ around the same time and didn't see that one. Good deal.

There was another for $3700 but lacked the stand + cosmetic scratches. Even with the 15% off, not really worth it I feel. These will likely be new for $3500 by the end of the year.

Luck. If you've got a Fry's nearby, BB should match it since it's a viable competitor. Now if Fry's isn't even in the same state, that's where lady luck comes in to play.

This place, Nice Electronics, has the 9300 for $1,600 but I don't know what "sac unit" means so I'm somewhat suspicious about this deal and the retailer. Seems fishy.

Read the entire policy, print it, and take it to the BB manager or the idiot that told you he wouldn't match because it's below cost...and simply ask if corporate policy does not apply to their particular store?

It says in black and white...
"Does Best Buy match the price if it results in a price being below Best Buy's cost on a product?
Yes. So long as the price match requested is on an identical immediately available product and all other price match criteria are met."

Which brings up a question I've had for quite a while.

When Best Buy says something is below their cost, are they referring to cost as calculated to include overhead or what they pay the manufacturer? As much volume as BB buys, I can't see anyone being lower than them on the price paid to the manufacturers figure. Its that overhead that runs the "cost" price up??????????

Further reading about this company has made me realize this is probably not a good idea. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the "SAC" mention could mean it's a South American unit, hence the price cut. Plus there are reviews about Nice and their 'bait and switch' tactics.

As ever, the "too good to be true" mantra comes to mind. After all, if the popular online retailers can't offer as good a deal as this, there must be something fishy.

I probably should've researched this further before posting, so apologies for that.

Abe's of Maine has a similar online deal, $1675, without the "sac unit" proviso. (Abe's and Nice may be related in some way... one of Nice's terms and conditions pages mentions Abe's.) I successfully bought a kitchen appliance or two from Abe's in the past, and was about to pull the trigger on this... but is it too good to be true?

Is it expected to go on sale for the July 24-25 Black Friday in July sales at BB? Or has anyone had any luck getting BB to price match since July 4?

I attempted to price match at BB and they said no way that it did not meet their criteria, also Nice Electronics has terrible return policy, just have a read and you will know why the TV is so cheap. I ended up getting a 55JS8500 but may return for the OLED still on the fence about it.

I am very leery of buying online from the ultra low guys and even worry about places like Walt's TV or Adorama.

I would feel safe buying through Amazon, but they still charge sales tax to me in Georgia. Amazon has a new, wildly financed backed competitor that just went online.... Jet.com.

They will match Amazon's $2298.00 on the LG 55EC9300 plus about $50 less as a bonus for buying from them and then no state sales tax is added (worth $163). They even have a "No Free Return" option that will take another $50 off.

Any thoughts, guys?

PS. I also live 15 miles from a Best Buy. We're back then to the same price as Amazon, but I could be able to drive to a brick & mortor store to yell at someone if I needed to.

Too good to be true?

The 55EC9300 is not included in Best Buy's sale this weekend, nor is it available at Fry's online. Many sellers are at the same price of $2300 give or take a couple dollars (Amazon, BB, Walts, Crutchfield, TigerDirect, Newegg, Walmart...), while a few sites cluster around a significantly lower price:

PremierTVs.com: $1450
NiceElectronics.com: $1540
ShopSmartTVs.com: $1565
abesofmaine.com: $1675

Premier lists its model as LG 55EC9300AU/CA, which may mean it's an Australian/Canadian version. How would that matter?
Nice says it's a "sac unit", whatever that means. I emailed Abe's to confirm it's the same model sold elsewhere; tellingly, they didn't get back to me. I can only assume these units running at least $600 less must be different in some way. It would be another story if these sites were upfront about it — are they returns, foreign versions, etc? — but unless anyone here can relate a success story, I'm not inclined to take the chance.

Pity, as my 51" Samsung plasma was stolen by a burglar recently, and I'm definitely in the market...

From their website:

Products in the following categories are excluded from this offer:

HT projectors, subscription software services, digital music services, gaming consoles, music & eReader download cards, contract mobile phones, and mobile broadband devices. Select premium TVs from LG, Samsung, Sharp and Sony. Select blu-ray players from Samsung and Sony. Select home audio products from Samsung, Sony, LG, and Sharp. Select drones.
I can just guess which LG TVs are considered "Premium".
