The 55" 2017 TVs are definitely a concern. Besides the burn-in, you have the reverse effect of overcompensation. It only be fixed, if LG customer service will send a technician over to update the LUT table.

You might as well wait 6 months for the 2018 55" B8 from Best Buy. It should be under $1500 by then.

Yeah, that's probably what I'll end up doing. But for this year isn't the C8 better?

Best Buy would not match a scam outfit like TV superstores..ABe's of Maine..etc etc
They are not authorized retailers and history has shown that you will never get the TV for their advertised price anyway
Though I think they are good for credit card price protection claims

They will match authorized online retailers...such as Amazon

To my knowledge..Best Buy's extended warranty is about the only one that offers burn in protection
LG factory warranty does not

The reviews I see say the performance differences in 2017 and 2018 models is marginal...with maybe the 2018's being a bit dimmer?

I agree with you on the burn in..I looked over the display unit I bought very carefully and I did purchase the BB extended 5 year plan that covers it for 5 years
All in with a 65"E7, sales tax and service plan cost ..I was below $2K

Looks like the big thing is going to be the (yet to be confirmed) “improvements“ in the new Alpha 9 processor (except the B8) for upscaling SD / HD content and new auto calibration with 3D LUT controls if you have it calibrated. It also has a game mode, but for more details watch this:

Received my TV today from the greentoe deal. Did not find any dead pixel and screen seems fine except there is a slight bend on the right side which is only noticeable when you look down the length of the screen. Researching briefly and it seems this is common. Anyone else find this? Any issues I should look for?

For DFW area, the 2 new B7 TVs are gone. Nothing left but some display models in DFW.

Bad idea to buy OLED display units with so many hours. Avoid them.

Great price for the C8. I just hate the stand on it. I was looking at the E8 due to the aesthetics and got quoted $2,900. Trying to decide if the E8 is worth the extra $$$.

WOW. Only if BB gave me cash money instead of their store credit for my BI on the old set. DAMN

I agree I hate the stand. But for couple hundred more than the C7 I think it is worth it.

I offered $2300 the first time and they came back with $2499. I then offered $2400 and got a message from someone on Greentoe saying they wouldn't go below $2499, so I accepted.

How long after you placed your bid did you hear from someone?

For emails on weekdays it was usually after a couple of hours. Weekends I have been having trouble getting a response. Check your greentoe account thought there should be a counter offer.

Got the 65E7 home today that I bought for $1519 at Best Buy

Looks good..I will have put its through its movie paces this weekend
I am not used to the LG menu set...so that will take some getting used to

Interesting idea that my salesmen put into my head
He said he had a 2016 OLED in a 55" that had some very slight burn in. He said he gamed on it quite a bit
He said it didn't both him and that he was just going to wait for a big advancement in technology before he filed a claim on his Best Buy extended warranty. That way he was guaranteed a free technology upgrade at no additional change since they would just give him a new TV as a warranty replacement

Keep in mind that the 2017 LG OLED 55" panels have the overcompensation factory defect. It's specific to them not the 2018s or the 2016s. It's a pain getting customer service to send out a tech. It's even more difficult to get a tech that knows what he is doing. Out of 6 panels being tested by RTINGS, two of them had the issue. Those odds aren't good at 2/6. It's not specific to the 65"/77" LG OLED, any size Sony OLED, or any size Panasonic OLED.

This factory defect is specific to the 55" 2017 LG models.

https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/real...d-burn-in-test

LG engineers visited our lab a few days ago and were able to confirm the 25% window on the Live CNN and FIFA 18 TVs are a result of a factory issue (see our video here). OLED TVs are produced in a hot process, and after cooling a 25% window is shown on each panel. Some TVs which haven't cooled completely can produce invalid results for the lookup table used by the 'Pixel Refresh' function, causing this 25% window to become visible. Only some 55" OLED TVs were affected during part of 2017.
As this is not an issue with the panel itself, it is possible to apply a fix to the lookup table. LG will apply this fix to anyone who presents this issue to their support, for free, even after the warranty period has long expired. They have fixed our two affected TVs (see the uniformity photos below). Note that this doesn't fix other uniformity issues as the result of static content, only the 25% window caused by a factory defect. LG has also confirmed that there is variation between panels, which is why some OLED appear more prone to developing uniformity issues (as in the case with our Live CNN (200 nits) vs Live CNN (Max).)

I'm not too worried with the Burn-In problems if I can secure a warranty that covers it. Just went to Best Buy and Target a couple hours ago. Mesmerized by the OLED yet again. I'm forced to get a 55" because of space. Was hoping to see a better deal somewhere since the 2018's are out, but still sitting at $1599 at both Target and Best Buy. Oh well. Hopefully in the next month or so I can purchase. Going on a trip next week, so no need to rush now.

If the 55" B8 follows the same pattern as the B7 last year, it will drop to $1500 within 4 months of release. It's hard to say, if you want to wait it out and get a better model.

Amazon Price Trend: https://camelcamelcamel.com/LG-Elect...context=search

You will be able to do a price protection claim with your credit card on a 55" B8.

The price protection claims are drying up for the 2017 LG OLED, as zibdeals and ebuyusa have been raising their prices on their 2017 models for the past month. In the past, they kept raising the prices of the previous year's models after the new models came out. Take a look at their 2016 prices. It's higher than the 2017 models.

If you want to bump up to a higher level processor and get the 55" C8 today, you can get it now for $1,999. If you wait two months, it should be down $1699 or so.

I can get the 55 inch B7 for $1,200 refurbished with an extended 1 year warranty so 2 years in total. Worth it right?

It's not a great deal, since you can get a new one for the same price or slightly more. Warranties are often hard to make a claim on.
