I placed offer of $2450 which was quickly countered with $2850

I will probably go C8 before paying that much

Lol, not really related to 2017 LGs, but good info. You can try 65 A1E if you want a cheaper Sony OLED.

Just wondering if anyone has installed one of those bias lighting kits on the OLED TV. I picked one up from Amazon on Prime day but can't figure out how it should go on the back since the TV is flat at the top half and the bottom half sticks out. If anyone has, can you post a pic of how it looks from the back? It'll give me an idea how I should install it. I know they're not necessary for an OLED, thought it would cool.

I've finally got my wife warmed up enough to the idea of a new TV, and I've been eyeing the 65" OLED market for some time

That being said, I've been reading back a bit on here and trying to learn from you guys about deal finding.
I have about $1,700-1,800 to spend. Do any of the 65" models ever come down to the range?
The Greentoe bargaining is interesting, and I had never heard of it before, so I'm not sure if I'm better off bargaining with them, waiting out for a sale, or if that price range just isn't realistic.

Yes, around black Friday of last year fry's electronics had the LG 65" for $1800 if I remember correctly. That's when I purchased the 55" for $1200. A lot of people purchased from green toe, mostly by calling in and asking them to price match. As for the price.coming down that far, it's likely, when is the question. Depends if you're willing to wait. When you do buy, use a credit card that has price protection (Discover) and go through a cash back site if you can.

Recent Greentoe prices for 65" LG OLED
- $2399 - 65C8
- $2199 - 65B7A

Massdrop recently had:
- $1999 - 65B7A

I'm trying to decide between waiting for a deal on the C8, maybe on Labor Day sales? Hoping for a good upcoming Massdrop on the C8 or 7. Trying my luck on a refurb through Walmart or Ebay. Or saying forget it and settling for a TCL 6-series.

I feel like I’ve read some conflicting opinions - do you all think that there is much of a quality difference between the B and C series options? It’s only a couple hundred $, but I don’t want to spend the extra if it’s not needed.

No difference in picture quality between any of the 2017 OLED models. I understand that 2018 is a different story.

So as someone new to Greentoe, can someone explain to me how it works and what/if are the risks involved? If I enter a price on a TV and it's accepted (or they counter and I accept) is the TV a fully warranted, new TV? Thanks.

Edit: I understand there is some risk with all online purchases, but in general is the Site trustworthy?

Yes greentoe only sells new sets from authorized dealers with full factory warranty

I was countered 2299 for C8 65" but let it expire

Was in Cistco today and 55 B7 is back up to 1399 after 1199 for several weeks...still had 3 left..at least by display

Seems to me the biggest risk is once you submit an offer you can't retract it. If a company accepts your offer, it is automatically processed and paid for with your credit card information that you submitted. There is no final stage basically.

However, it appears that your 1st offer using the site does not require payment info up front, and you have 12 hours to pay if the offer is accepted. Any future offers tho, payment info needs to be submitted up front and will be processed upon acceptance.

Heres a great faq page with lots of information.

How does the Greentoe price matching work? Do they only match certain retailers?

Thanks,

Found a great deal on eBay for LG OLED65W7P

It was listed as new for $3899 and that included shipping. I hope it's a good unit, but I bought it from a seller (ielectrica) with 99.9% positive rating and almost 10,000 reviews. I figure with the protection of eBay and my Paypal account that I am covered. But it appears to be a legit price and it is already enroute to the UPS main office a day after placing the order where I can pick it up and inspect it onsite for any issues. I called UPS and they confirmed the package is enroute and to come pick it up next week. I even saw some 65W7P's for $3600 on eBay...it appears to be a fire sale. The reviews indicate it is one of the best TVs made before the 2018 models came along. Will let you know if I had any issues with delivery, but everything appears to be on the up and up. Hope this saves someone money from buying at a local big box store inflated price.

I went for the B7. I plan to do a full surround sound setup, so the television speakers don't matter to me. I think there have been numerous reviews indicating that there isn't much difference in picture quality.

Correct but it does support Dolby Atmos - it just doesn't have the fake height speakers of the C7P - you can, however, output Dolby Atmos (via DD+) from apps on a TV to an AVR

Here's a quote from Barth2 back in January:

If I had a really good TV to go back to, I would wait for the C8. Here are the reasons

1/ new processor and hopefully improvement in motion handling. It will have black frame insertion. First impression at CES was BFI works well without noticeably dimming the picture. Better upscaling and handling of poor quality source ie cable is also a possibility.

2/ possibly better uniformity. The 2017 sets took a step back. The 2018 sets hopefully get back to square one.

3/ there's a possibility that the 77" would drop to $5K, which is right around my tolerance threshold. I was watching blade runner and was unexpectedly.... underwhelmed. As good as the picture is on OLED, it's just so ... small, especially with the wide aspect ratio. I saw it originally in Dolby Cinema; that was an experience. On 65", it felt like TV and kind of pointless. Maybe I'd feel that way in the 77" too. Hopefully less.

4/ larger red subpixel. More resistant to burn in and maybe a little brighter?

5/ other stuff I forgot.

There's also the autocal thing which is good if you want to have your set calibrated. Google assistant? I don't care.

These are all on paper at this point and may all seem like small details. But remember, all complaints about the current sets are small details. OLED is very good already so improvements will be small. But if the little improvements fix what bug you, then it's a huge deal.

I based my answer off a response that someone made in a question from BBuy:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/questio...th-hdr/5935272

I was unaware that the B7A was capable of outputting Dolby Atmos in any form. That was the limitation described to me when I picked up my TV at BBuy by their Magnolia reps. However, I too, could stand to be corrected. :-)

In any event, I'm swapping out my B7A for a W7P so it won't be an issue for me and I've only got 5.1 on my Denon Heos AVR- wish I could have more but Denon hasn't invented the Dolby Atmos version HEOS AVR yet (I'm being hopeful for all of us that have living room or WAF contraints that don't allow crazy wiring).

I honestly would not trust a single piece of information that comes from Best Buy

I have a 65B7A and I output Atmos from Netflix from the internal Netflix App all the time...Vudu will also output Atmos (again, lossy DD+ variety - not TrueHD)

Now, the TV can't actually audibly output Atmos via the internal speakers (not even sure how the C7P does) because it does not have the height speakers internal to the TV.

The seller on eBay (Beach Camera) stated the B7 does not support Dolby Atmos. The deal is over now anyways, but the page is still there https://www.ebay.com/itm/292552304640

DANG, it's 2299 now after being 1749 for 2 days!

Guys....do your research before buying something... the B7 main difference is that it doesn't have the internal height speakers that the C7P does (to support some weird Dobly Atmos via internal speakers on the TV - its like 2.0.2 - which is hardly Atmos surround sound). BUT it will output DD+ with Atmos metadata from the internal apps.

I have a B7A...I watch stuff in Atmos with my 5.0.2 surround setup

The deal is back up... What does everyone think, is it worth grabbing this model or holding out and hoping the c8 drops to this price around Thanksgiving? Is there a big difference between the 2 picture quality wise?! I'm on the fence right now!

yeah I was notified by the ebay app a few hours ago about the price dropping again...have been looking for a few months for a 55" 2016 3D model to replace the panny Viera plasma in my study, since the wife has pretty much cut me off from watching either the 2016 65c OLED in the LivingRoom or the Epson 5040ub in the movie room after she goes to sleep, they both border the master bed room and can't seem to get the atmos/dts:X tracks low enough to meet her comfort levels while trying to sleep. People selling those 2016 models are really expecting a premium, so much so that the 55" 2017 OLED is about the same as what is expected for a 55" 2016 model.

Anyway, almost jumped on the Beach ebay deal yesterday, but it irritated me they ended it exactly when the 15%/$100 max discount started, and let it pass...sort of regretted it, and when it popped back today, bought one. Already have two 3D capable displays, and getting a 65" for only $500 extra seemed like a pretty fair trade-off in not getting 3D.

Hmm, unless study has surround sound, maybe just headphones when she's trying to sleep? Or turn off sub completely?
