Sorry to hear about your experience, Salvatore. Based on online reviews/comments of Greentoe, they are generally a pleasant company to deal with. I have read a few bad comments about the hassle of identifying your identity, but it's not a lot of them. I'll be giving them a try on the 28th.

Thank you for the heads up on the Newegg Flash sale. Will definitely keep an eye out for 65 C8. Does anyone know where I can get an extended warranty if the seller is not an LG authorized retailer? I heard about SquareTrade, but Costco stated that their ST warranties are only for authorized retailers as well.

Did anyone else have a similar situation with Greentoe?

I also got the run around with verifying my identity. A work email is the weirdest and dumbest way to verify your identity.

They asked me for a LinkedIn profile. I told them to call me (they didn’t). They then said it was fine that they would ask the retailer what other way to verify my ID. Just frustrating and delayed my order by several days since they take forever to respond to emails.

I will not buy from them again.

I had an issue with a retailer like that before trying to get me to verify all this crap, send my drivers license in, etc and I just called my credit card company concierge or w/e its called and told them to handle it and gave them the phone number.

From the Costco website, may not be an issue but it could also provide Square Trade with a reason to deny your claim. I've had a claim with last year for a Samsung bought from BB (warranty from Costco) and Square Trade required a copy of the receipt and asked a lot of questions so who knows. The member only language isn't something I've noticed before, have always read a membership wasn't required to do the ST warranty through Costco, but I've been a member for 15+ years.

"Costco Members may purchase SquareTrade warranty plans for new TVs bought from a Costco warehouse, Costco.com or any authorized US retailer. The plan must be purchased within 90 days of purchasing the TV in a Costco warehouse or from Costco.com.
If the TV is purchased outside of Costco from an authorized retailer in the US, then the service plan must be purchased within 60 days from receipt of TV."

Massdrop has the B8 today for $1899. Is that the best I can do on the B8? Been watching prices for a year and getting an itching trigger finger. Full warranty.

I just got 65 B8 through Greentoe for $1849. I had none of the issues others have mentioned with Greentoe and have a receipt and shipping confirmation from an authorized dealer.

Massdrop isn't an authorized dealer. https://www.lg.com/us/authorizeddeal...ized_retailers

Massdrop indicates full LG warranty is included so I'm not sure what to think.

Massdrop isn't a retailer, just like GreenToe isn't a retailer.

I don't think this is quite correct. Massdrop is the seller. You pay them directly. GreenToe appears to be a straight middle man. You pay the vendor directly. I cannot do better than $1950 on Greetoe today. I am getting the $1849 price but plus additional sales tax. Massdrop is $1899 without tax.

I went ahead and purchased the C8 65 from the Newegg Flash sale this morning. $2,236 OTD. I called up the seller (gameliquidations) and I spoke to a gentleman who made me feel a bit more comfortable with my purchase. He informed me that even though they're an unauthorized seller, they, themselves, get the Tvs from authorized dealers so the manufacture warranty will still apply. He said the TV will be shipped via Fedex, double boxed & will require a signature. He also mentioned that their warehouse is in my home state, so I should receive the TV by Tuesday

This is really tempting. I see bestbuy price matches Newegg. Would they price match if the seller is someone else? Massdrop is not charging tax when I go through the checkout process. Best I can do on Green Toe is $1849 plus tax which works out to $1950 so Massdrop is still cheaper. Wondering if its worth seeing if bestbuy will match either Massdrop or Newegg Flash sale.

Can anyone comment on whether the C8 offers enough improvements over the B8 to be worth hat appears to be about a $300 price jump? Convince me.

From my experience, BestBuy will not match if the seller isn't Newegg themselves.

They won’t price match Newegg flash. Believe me I tried a couple times.
Regular Newegg yes as long as it’s sold by them and not a third party seller.

Newegg flash has the 77”C8 for $4799 and Massdrop has it for $4979.
Just a few hundred more less and I can bite on it. Lol.

Yeah I figured. But Massdrop is clear it's a full LG warranty. Thinking it's a pretty good deal.

From what I have heard BB or any B&M store that sells say a 77 Oled TV won’t price match by $2000 🙂 they told me that LG won’t let them sell at low price because they are authorized retailers. I said how about Buydig / Beachcam sells at 4799 vs 6999. Then they go whole la la song of unreliable product, after market bla bla .. bottom line, very unlikely price match for such differences.

It seems LG has some pretty tight pricing on these. Greentoe today 1849 was the best they would do. Plus tax however making it more expensive than Massdrop for me. I tried Cleveland plasma as well and i really wanted them to match Massdrop but they wouldn't. The tax is the killer.

For those that do not care if the retailer is an authorized dealer, Rakuten has the 65" C8 for $1,948.57 after you use coupon code WC300 at checkout. Sale price is valid until tomorrow 11:59PM and coupon code valid until 1/22/2019 11:59PM.

Please note that it is being sold and shipped by Wholesale Connection through Rakuten.

Is abctvs.com legit? They’re offering the 55C8 for $1317 including delivery and wall mount.

Another is thetvbar.com offering the 55C8 for $1399.

I’m thinking of trying to get BB to price match but not many places offering lower than the current SB promo price of $1699.

Do you know how to use google? (A quick search and viewing results from discussions at reddit etc shows that those sites are part of the many many scam/bait and switch/etc sites...)

The price gap with brick and mortar is huge. 1899 on Massdrop versus 2299 at best buy Amazon etc. And Massdrop doesn't ring me up for tax. So that's nearly 500 difference. I'd prefer to buy local but 500 is too much money. If BB won't match, they are going to go out of business. Even Greentoe is at 1849 for the B865 and those are authorized dealers.

The cost difference was $360 after points kickback for me, and I went with the B8. More than a 17% discount amounting real money that'll get you a decent used AVR or some desktop audio kit, for instance. At $200, I'd have gone with the C8 on the generic merits of a better processor. At $300, it's close, but probably B8 for me.

I got the sense that some of the processing advantages of the C8 only manifest when you're using scaling features here. If you keep things native, that levels the difference. Sorry if I'm misrepresenting that, not really a videophile and don't want to revisit it myself. I also just took the CNET reviewing at face value.
