That's a great price. I've observed several Massdrop audio campaigns that went really well. Sometimes the shipping time frame can be quite long, so keep an eye on that. Looks like February 12 here.

So yesterday Greentoe was at 1849 plus tax. BH photo was the seller. They insisted that tax must be charged to Pa. So I check BH photos website today and they do not collect tax in Pa. So Something is amiss...

I think Best Buy takes advantage of the fact that some people do not like to buy anything online, or at least as expensive and difficult to return tv's. And they'll try to upsell you an extended warranty, at ridiculously high prices.

Plus they offer financing, so your average person can buy an expensive tv and pay for it little by little, not too many of the other sites do that, unless you are fortunate enough to have a free financing offer on your credit card to use.
There are Best Buys all across the country, but who ever heard of Massdrop and Greentoe, etc besides people like us who frequent forums like this to learn about these other alternatives?

65C8 $1992 from Electronic Express by way of Rakuten
https://www.rakuten.com/shop/electro...spzkV9yA0zpXPg

May be some caveats to this as you have to be a Rakuten member and there is some deal with a coupon to get $300 off from $2292.

The discount is through Rakuten but the actual dealer, Electronic Express, is an authorized dealer I believe.

I've been following this thread for a few days and can't thank you all enough for posting the frequent updates.

I bought a 55'' B8 during Black Friday and have since been hoping for a strong deal on the 65'' before my return window with Best Buy closes (a week and a half from now).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like Greentoe and Massdrop are the best options for a 65'' B8 under $2000 right now? Leaning toward Greentoe?

The B&H deal is also very appealing, but even without tax I'd pay about $50 more with them than through Greentoe.

I should also mentioned I'm a total newb when it comes to Greentoe and Massdrop...

Where are you located?
I think all of the dealers\sources you listed are reputable.
I've had experience with B&H, solid.
That's why I asked where you're located.
B&H is in Brooklyn\New York City so if you're close...
For $50 I'd go with who I was more comfortable with.

At $200, I'd have gone with the C8 on the generic merits of a better processor. At $300, it's close, but probably B8 for me.

I got the sense that some of the processing advantages of the C8 only manifest when you're using scaling features here. If you keep things native, that levels the difference. Sorry if I'm misrepresenting that, not really a videophile and don't want to revisit it myself. I also just took the CNET reviewing at face value.

I'm in Tennessee. Running through the cart/checkout process, it looks like they won't charge me tax.

As of yesterday, green toe was at 1849 plus tax for the 65B8. Massdrop is 1899 with no tax at least for me. Massdrop you will wait a couple of weeks. Greentoe should ship sooner. I'd really like another hundy off the 65B8. What BH deal are you referring to?

Hmm, good to know about the wait with Massdrop! I'd prefer not to go TV-less for 1-2 weeks.

The BH deal is here: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...ua_4k_hdr.html

65'' B8 for $2297 + free shipping + $225 gift card. So, net cost of $2072 for the TV with no taxes in Tennessee's case.

Thanks. Still way higher than Massdrop and Greentoe. I wonder if BB would match that with the gift card since BH is on their match list?

They don't charge tax outside of NY State.
Just to temper the B&H deal a bit.
Is there $225 of stuff stuff they sell you want to buy?
Maybe a flat panel mount?

If you've ever seen their catalog, it's old school with a ton of stuff.

Alas, I'm given up my want of an OLED this year.
Decided to get 2 huge trees blocking my view taken out.
About exactly the current cost of a C8 77".

My Panny plasma will have to do for another year.

Promo expires February 2. Assuming inventory holds up, that'll endure through any rival Super Bowl discounting from other dealers. I was considering buying at Best Buy ($2,700 for the 65" C8) and relying on its in-house price protection to cover any further Super Bowl discounting. Now I might sit tight.

Although not part of the Amazon promo, interesting that the 65" B8 now has a steeper discount on Amazon and Best Buy relative to the C8 at $2,300.

I just got my Best Buy credit card and they're offering 10% back on your first total purchase.I'm holding out for a C9.

May be some caveats to this as you have to be a Rakuten member and there is some deal with a coupon to get $300 off from $2292.

I pulled the trigger on this. Electronic Express is listed as an authorized dealer on LGs website. After coupon it brings the total to $1,992. I was hit with tax which brought the grand total to $2,161. I'm in CA btw.

But what made this deal INSANE is that there's a certain cash back site that is owned by Rakuten (not sure if I can mention the site on here) that offered me 30% cash back for shopping at rakuten. I went through the cash back site, which linked me to rakuten, and bought the 65C8 brand new. With the 30% cash back, my total cost at the end is $1,512!

You are correct. I was not sure if i could mentioned their name because I found out that slickdeal forums are not allowed to mention them. Also, when the forum was discussing about the cash back, some members were getting different % cash back (i dont know why). Some were getting 30% like myself, some 35%, and some 1%.

Slickdeals makes money off referral clicks. If you go through ebates (or activate cash back using the browser app) slickdeals doesn't get the referral money. AFAIK this site isn't like that (especially if there is no direct link to the deal).
