So what do you guys think? Best Buy for 1999 plus tax (2140) or google express for 1906? Is the 200 worth the easy ability to exchange ge return?

Is Newegg an authorized reseller?

Thanks for the replies.

Today I went to a different BB, and the Magnolia sales guy tried telling me not to get the B8 because it has worse burn in issues, which got solved in the C8. AFAIK they are the same besides 100 nits of max brightness. He showed me a Sony OLED that had a green tint to the middle of the screen, claiming that's what would happen to the B8. He's definitely wrong, right? I've read that burn in isn't much of an issue unless you abuse it, and I assume either way the B8 and C8 should have similar performance in this realm. Am I right?

That being said $2100 for the 65" C8 is pretty tempting. I didn't check its price at BB. Did anyone else?

My understanding from what i've read is that burn-in is only an issue if you're leaving static images on the screen regularly over a long period of time. Video game HUD's or on screen banners like ESPN or the cable news channels have would be a candidate for this as well. However, if you don't only use this one source of media and it varies a lot it shouldn't be an issue. For 2K I am not super worried about it, and will worry about it if we get there.

Picked up the B8 for 1999 from BB, got the last one out of 2 stores in this area. They didn't have a 77" B8 and the 77" C8 was 6999. The 65" C8 was 2699 at BB. He also said the Sony OLEDs would NOT be going down tomorrow or before the SB and that these are their SB pricing from Sony. The 65" A8F was at 2999. I didn't look much at the pricing beyond that for the Sony OLEDs since they're much more than the LG and the value with sales didn't seem worth exploring for me.

Off to the owners thread to check out some settings

Also, would BB price match a deal that ends at midnight on Newegg? And does Newegg charge sales tax now?

I found the Newegg deal this afternoon and I’ve debated whether to buy or not due to the price.

Will Lg honor the warranty?

Really want the new Lg C9 but for the money you can’t go wrong with this deal.

I’m sure the price for the C8 will really come down once the C9’s become readily available.

You will not have warranty issues. It’s covered.

I would not trust anything bb says about anything. They did not even know the B8 was 1999 went I went in. They have zero clue on things like that.

Just tried to price match the Newegg deal at BB. Almost got through, but they went to the main website and saw that it was a 3rd party reseller, denying the price-match. These employees were definitely nerds and were astonished at the great deal, so I'm not surprised they investigated further. Bummer.

This was about 8:40 PM. Luckily Momma didn't raise no quitter, so I hopped into my car and raced to another BB. Made it there just in time, and guess what? They put the price match straight through! $2099 plus tax for a 65" C8 at a B&M store. Plus $210 back in points because I signed up for the credit card.

Unfortunately they wouldn't let me place it in my car horizontally, claiming they had to write DNR (do not return) on it if I did that, since supposedly it might break. I have never heard of that policy. Oh well, just gotta wait till Tuesday for delivery now.

I hear ya, just relaying what they told me when I asked them if they had any idea if the Sony OLEDs would be marked down more before the SB. I was considering the A8F if the second location I visited was out of the 65" B8.

Interesting, they loaded mine up in the outback laying down and I had maybe 10-12 miles of mixed highway and local driving to the house. No issues i've been able to detect so far. Does anyone know if there is an agreed upon utility for detecting bad pixels or is it all naked eye sort of thing? Congrats on the great deal!

Ended up sticking with the B8 at Best Buy for 1999. Tried to get a A8f for 2299 but no one bit. The more I read about the differences between these sets the more I am convinced the differences are minimal at least to me. Got the picture set up generally. Off to the B8 forums. Picture is stunning. Thanks for all the input everyone.

I'm reading a lot of questions about unauthorized dealers and warranty concerns. To clarify things, I did a little bit of research and concluded that the 1 year LG manufacturer warranty will still be honored from LG if the the TV was purchased from an unauthorized dealer. The only thing you have to worry about is if the unauthorized dealer is a trust-worthy dealer. Some are scam sites which will bait-and-switch you or sell you a non-USA model of the TV. Please note that if you are sold a non-USA model, LG will void the 1 year manufacturer warranty.

First Class TVs is a trusted unauthorized reseller and they usually have good deals ($2,079.26 for the 65" C8 on their direct website). Check out their reviews on ebay or google them.

For those that wonder if SquareTrade will honor extended warranties from TV purchased from unauthorized resellers, they will. I contacted SquareTrade letting them know that I was planning to purchase the C8 through First Class TVs and let them know that they are an unauthorized reseller, SquareTrade confirmed that their warranty will still cover the TV. You can purchase the SquareTrade 3 year extended warranty through costco.com for $99 (you don't have to be a costco member. Just make a free account with them online).

I was about to buy from First Class TVs, but found an even better deal for the 65" C8 moments after.

Hope this helps.

The dangers of laying flat panels horizontally is a myth.
I was told that umpteen years ago when I bought my first plasma and again when I bought my 2nd.
Both were laid flat for the 7 mile trip in my car and worked flawlessly.
For godssake they've already crossed the Pacific Ocean after being manhandled in every possible way.

Just a heads up that first class TVs does not show shipping and insurance on the website quoted price. I saw the 2079 as well but it ended up being 2350 after shipping. I emailed them about it. Interestingly they quoted me a higher price than their eBay prices which is crazy since eBay takes 10 percent. I emailed them asking why the discrepancy and they never responded.

As I posted earlier, this the a historical graph of flat panel retail prices for the last several years.
I didn't following pricing in 2016\17 because I wasn't in the market for a few reasons.

Seems like the 2018 Black Friday season was a bit different.
The great deals were like flash sales & for the most part everyone toed a consistent line in pricing.

FWIW, I'm speculating that the health of the economy, the maturity of OLED 4k tech & 4k content availability extended market share beyond the videophile & early adopter consumer
played a big role.

Strange. I just bought a 3 year extended warranty from SquareTrade through Costco for $99 and I received my ST coverage plan and it shows it as a 5 year coverage term.

No mention of this to me, but this may have something to do with the sales clerk being the one who helped me load it up. He measured the box for me and let me borrow his tape to walk out and measure the back of the vehicle to make sure it would fit. I prob could have fit the 77" in there haha

My guess is they do this to up sell people to get the white glove delivery or whatever it is.

That's incorrect. Firstclass TVs has free shipping on all TVs.

You may be right but here is what they told me:

That is not including the price for shipping insurance.

Why does your website list the C8 at $2079.26? Which is it?

The lowest they would go was 2250 shipped on the c8 notwithstanding the website price of 2079. Maybe they just don’t like me.

Their website, and their Ebay listings plainly state free shipping. You must have seen that. Why didn't you ask them about that?

You now say $2250 (earlier said $2350). That is exactly 8% more. Sales tax in your state?

I'm not trying to start a flame war. I copied their response right into the email so no it isn't tax it's what they called IN THEIR OWN WORDS "Shipping Insurance". I was just sharing the information to others because $2079 plus a phantom charge of $150 for "shipping insurance" is likely to be off putting to others. That's the exact response they gave me when I asked them why they quoted me $2250 instead of $2079 on their website. You are right, I misspoke earlier when I said $2350, I forgot. Sorry. My impression from my emailing with them was that I did not want to do business with them. Others may have better experiences of course so those are my views. And yes I actually did ask them why their quoted prices were higher than their eBay listings and they never responded.

I got a C8 from my local dealer for 1999.99. He threw in a 5 year in home warranty for $78.
I think I did ok.
