Not sure just ran across it in my search for a great deal on a 65” E8. I’m not comfortable shelling out my hard earned cash to a company I’m not familiar with. Put it out here to see if anyone had any experience with this company / website.

Anybody?

HELP!

I am moving, I have a Samsung 8000 series 65 inch, considering upgrading to 77 inch for new living room. Was gonna get it NOW so it can be installed in a few weeks when I move there but I dont want to pay more than $4500 if possible.

Is the C9 the NEW version of the C8 and is it coming out this Spring so that I might find some killer deals on C8 soon? Anyone know of any MAJOR differences between the two making the newer one a must have? My main issues are color banding which I HATE and for years I had a very expensive KURO pro and it was never BRIGHT enough for me.

Waiting to buy has a set of cons to it for me, so the C8 is what I want if I want the OLD version at a better price and the best places are the ones you all talk about.

So Game Liquidations on EBAY is where Newegg is getting them or going thru.

So is there any reason to buy it on Newegg vs Ebay other than if one did not have an Ebay account or something? Better to go direct, right?

Nebraska TV Mart?

https://www.nebraskatvmart.com/LG-OL...OLED-TV/p-1059

$3498.00 new? How is that possible?

For fun I called, computers answering, you get voice mail, so NO customer service maybe.

I would RUN if it were me in the OTHER direction.

I am asking about a site also called NEbraska TV Mart and someone here said they think they are also bad news

IF brightness of contrast is of great importance to me, will I see a noticeable difference between LCD and OLED in this area? I understand contrast is not the same as brightness, but VIVID is what I seek right or wrong in a picture, which is what Samsung calls it when you boost everything up.

Yes, you will be able to see a difference. Full Array LED Backlit sets can get much, much brighter than OLEDs. For example, Vizio's PQ65-F1 can hit 2300 nits of peak brightness, vs about 950 nits on the LG C8. The C8 uses tone mapping to compensate for the fact it doesn't quite hit the 1000 nits mark that HDR10 content is mastered for. (Not a bad thing, mind you.) You'll sacrifice black level performance, though the higher end models from Samsung and Sony do a pretty good job. As for what's the best for your eyes, it's (obviously) all up to you, since you are the person who's going to end up watching the TV after sinking your money into it.

Also, I forgot to mention this... LCDs with VA type panels have relatively narrow viewing angles. If you're not sitting in the center, or just off center, the colors and contrast begin to wash out rapidly.

Ahh, another thing to worry about and try to remember but thanks for this for sure. I would stick to the higher end Sony or LG, not sure which of their lines have VA panels, thanks.

While the top end Sony LEDs rate as well as the LG OLED, there one thing that OLED does that LEDs aren't, a self-emissive light source.
Each OLED pixel like plasma are their own light source which is the main source for the infinite contrast & true blacks on OLED.
I suggest visiting the Value Electronics website and looking at the 2018 shootout article.

From my own experience knowing some of the smartest guys in A\V, all of them have LG OLED

I bought a dslr Cannon a few years back for more than the C8. Not 1 issue.

The price drop was a discount for Brads Deals email members. Theyre price drops are usually only good for 1 day, or till the item is sold out!

They are playing off the name of an authorized retailer called Nebraska Furniture Mart.

Shopping List:
TV: LG CX/GX; Samsung...?
Blu-ray: Panasonic UB820
AVR/Pre-pro: Marantz 8805/7705 or 8012, or Yamaha 5200 or 3080
Speakers: GE Triton One.R, or ML ElectroMotion ESL X

Good luck with that. No way you're getting the TV at anywhere near the price, and will deal with a ton of hassle along the way.

I have to believe we are at near rock bottom here. Time will tell. Seems like inventory must be high and maybe they pre super bowl discounts weren’t aggressive enough. I started shopping about a month ago right after the initial b8 drop to 2399. In about 5 weeks, retail brick and mortar are dropped 550. If you are willing to hold out I’d have to think another 100 is in reach.

Bought my plasma from them in 2013. Best price and no issues. They have been a fixture in NJ/NY area for years.

thanks to last year's closeout sale and this year's closeouts I went from 2 beloved Panny plasmas to Two OLEDS for less than the price of the Panny 65vt60. Love the C7 in the BR and now the E8 from buydig sale last week. ..used my Citi card of course but I don't know if the 55E8 will get lower than the 1199 I paid.

Pretty much all LCD TVs are VA panels. LG uses IPS in some (which has better viewing angles but usually quite bad contrast ratio).

Just pulled the trigger on the 65c8 from PC Richards for $1799. I think that’s about as good as it’s going to get!
Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions! I’ll post if I have any issues with P.C. Richards.
I’m off to the settings thread to look for settings and sound bar suggestions!
Thanks again!

PC Richards has 1.5B in revenue and has been in business for 109 years. They have many brick and mortar stores in east coast. I doubt you will have any issues with them, but do let us know.

Greentoe is accepting offers for $4,600 on the 77"C8 but this retailer charges tax in my state so not low enough for me yet (would end up just over $5k with tax in TN).

I've never dealt with them, has anyone actually bought form these guys and had a good (or otherwise) experience?

Seems too good to be true, but it's tempting me.
