Looks like the best buy prices are back way up. So weird. The B8 is something like 2599 now. It was $1850 48 hours ago. Silly - gamesmanship.

ebay has 77 C8 for $4479 from firstclasstvs. Let's not bring up authorized dealer/warranty questions again.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/LG-OLED77C8...DxyI:rk:1:pf:0

If you happen to have 10% Cashback in your ebay account then this could be even sweeter. YMMV.

It's not gamesmanship, it's called market elasticity. Best Buy has too much inventory of 65B8s so they drop prices until that excess inventory has sold off, then it's back to 'usual' pricing.

Even at $1850, Best Buy is probably not losing money on those sales - I'd wager they are making a relatively meager margin of at least ~10% ($185). So if we use that assumption to estimate Best Buy costs of ~$1665 for the 65B8, that means 'usual' pricing of $2599 translates to margins of ~36% (or an additional margin of ~25% in any case).

No tax for many and shipping is free.

Note: Price shown when added to cart. Beach Camera is an authorized dealer for LG.

May be lowest we've seen for 65" OLED
You've done such a great job tracking deals on these 2018 WOLEDs in the closing months of the cycle - do these prices represent the best deals so far:

55B8 for $999
65B8 for $1599

What are the best deals you've seen so far for the:

55C8: ~$1200?
65C8: ~$1700?
77C8: ~$3700?

I've generally seen the best deals during 'closeout season' as a pretty reliable indicator of where discounted pricing of the next model year will get to come November...

How does the eBay 10% Cashback deal work?

It's more of YMMV, check your email/login to your ebay account and see if you got any email from Ebay for that. Usually that 8-10% caps at max of $100 in ebay cashback/bucks. So technically $4379 if your account is eligible.

Absolutely gutted that the price just shot up nearly $1000 overnight.

With the C9 coming probably around April/May, I pray we get some kind of price drop again.

I really thought the drop was permanent since every site was lowering the price. Was going to wait til it dropped just a bit more since I don't have price protection.

Then I wake up to find that they all went back up.

Yeah I missed the boat. Hoping I get something sub 2k for the c8 65"

Is Ielectrica via NewEgg a bad company?

Man. This is just sad. Every retailer had dropped price, so I hoped it was something permanent. Seems not. Hmm, I was debating b/w 65 OLED vs 75 LED. Seems like I'd rather go with 75 LED now.

Best I've seen so far
C8
55 - 1199
65- 1749
77 - 3999
Some of these offers could have been further lowered with cashback CC offers, price rewinds, etc...
But that's the cheapest listed prices I've seen from reputable sources.
The Sony A8F is now selling at 2199 on Greentoe and the E8 has been as low as 2149..maybe 2099

77C8PUA ~ Media room
75XBR900F ~ Game room
55XBR900E ~ Bedroom

Hopefully the big box retailers drop the 77 price i'ts been the same for quite awhile, even though other online places are dropping it.

Time will tell, but mostly prices are back up now unless you have a Microcenter in your area and they have stock. Otherwise 4399 at neweggs(unauthorized dealer) or 4999 at Beach/Buydig. Briefly I seen it 5999 at BB and some people were able to price match lower but my guess is there isn't a lot of stock left for the 77's so you may not see better prices. There will probably be a fire sale to come on C8/B8 55/65 in 3-5 weeks.

Although the C9 will be newer/better tech and a great set, some trends have shown these TV giants cutting cost at the expense of build quality. That was definitely the case with some high end Sony models and Vizio has exhibited poor QC for a couple years now.

Thanks - so that'll be my placeholder for where we're likely to see C9 prices 'dip' to in the major retail channels come November:

$1200 for the 55C9 (with 55B9 dipping to $1000)

$1750 for the 65C9 (with 65B9 dipping to $1600)

$4000 for the 77C9 (with 77B9 dipping to ~$3800)

LGD currently has capacity of 70,000 Gen 8.5 sheets per month, increasing to 130,000 sheets per month 'in Q3.'

Coupled with the MMG technology they also expect to have in production on the same timeframe, this translates to WOLED production levels that are more than double today's levels before the end of September. Lower prices than we've ever seen before (in major retailers) is a near-certainty come November...

You think we will be able to pick up a 65" C9 at Best Buy for $1750 in November...?

Shopping List:
TV: LG C9/C10, or Samsung Q90R, or Sony ...
Blu-ray: Panasonic UB820, or Pioneer Elite LX500, or Sony X800M
AVR/Pre-pro: Marantz 8805/7705 or 8012, or Yamaha 5200 or 3080
Speakers: GE Triton One.R, or ML ElectroMotion ESL X

You are correct, must have been what I was thinking. That was probably the best deal on a 55 so far, The 55C8 actually hit 1099 briefly I do believe.

Well, I am seeing a pretty good seller on eBay (great rep, seller since 2004) selling it for $1900 with no tax.

Thinking I'll bite the bullet. They also pay return shipping if I need to return it. iElectrica on NewEgg seems to charge return shipping AND a 15% restocking fee. Although I'm confused, because this Ebay seller is called "FirstClassTVs" but they mention iElectrica in the item description near the bottom. Are they the same thing?

I honestly don't care about finding an authorized dealer at all. I'll take the gamble on no warranty.

(idk if it's against the rules to post a link or not. If you're interested, just search 65" LG C8 on eBay and you'll find it as easily as I did.)

There is a great deal more 'building' involved in manufacturing an LED/LCD than there is in manufacturing a WOLED TV. LG Display does most of the work at the WOLED panel manufacturing level and the OEMs like Sony, Panasonic, and LG Electronics just add a control board, power supply, and a housing.

So I wouldn't be worried as about 'poor build quality' with WOLED TVs as production levels continue to increase as I would with poor uniformity (both near-black and near-white) at the WOLED panel level. The panel lottery with WOLEDs has persisted to the point of near-black streaking and near-white tinting being WOLEDs biggest bugaboos.

Hopefully as they continue to ramp production, LGD will figure out how to improve uniformity - WOLED TVs that deliver perfect blacks but lfar below perfect near-blacks are a lousy way to attract and keep customers...

Under $2000, almost certainly. All the way down to $1750, possibly (but only if you're staying very vigilent and jump the moment the time comes):

White OLED (LG Display's particular OLED TV technology, pioneered by Kodak).

I do admire your optimism and patience B9 and C9 have different processors, and I am not sure why LG will keep C9 and B9 at similar prices especially 77". It's hard to predict future, but my guess will be likely next year 77B9 close to $4k and 77C9 close to $5k , you might get lucky towards the end of year if their production picks up substantially. It does not make a lot of sense for LG to make two comparable priced sets, I mean why for $200 difference for 77" panels
Again my point is about 77" and not other smaller sizes that mostly target mass consumer.

Good luck.

I have to think that sales numbers for 55" & 65" dwarf 77".
Although 77" and larger are more optimal for 4k viewing, the size and price just don't seem close to mainstream.

Most people's viewing distance negates the whole 4k resolution advantage even if they're viewing 4k content.
In my theater room, the seats are 11' from a 100" diagonal 1080 projection screen and that's on the edge of pushing it.

Of course, there's a lot more to 4k than resolution.

It does not make a lot of sense for LG to make two comparable priced sets, I mean why for $200 difference for 77" panels
Again my point is about 77" and not other smaller sizes that mostly target mass consumer.

Good luck.
Up through 2018, your point is 100% valid, but that will be changing this year.

88" in the new 77" (will be priced at a level that will greatly limit sales) and

77" is the new 65" (will be priced below Samsung's comparitively-sized Q9 QLED/LCDs, as was the case for the 65C8 compared to the 65Q9FN last year...

Absolutely - I've estimated 77" WOLED sales at no more than 1% of overall WOLED TV sales (meaning ~30K units in 2018) but that will change this year. 77" WOLED sales over the next 12 months will probably surpass last years levels by almost a factor of 10 (meaning more than 300Ku).

And much higher sales volumes will translate to much lower prices...
