Wrote this in another thread. Just bumping this....

The 77C8 began sales in mid April 2018 for $9,000 msrp. Reputable retailers were selling the 77C8 for around $5,000 street price by late August 2018. (confirmed purchases around page 22/23 of the 2018 LG OLED deals page)

So it was almost 45% off within 4 months of sales launch!

Since MSRP is lower this year at $7000, to get to that $5000 price point is would mean 30% off msrp.

The 77C8 was selling for 30% ~$6300 street price from reputable retailers around late July 2018 (confirmed purchases around page 10/11 of the 2018 LG OLED deals page)

Based on that, I can almost guarantee the 77C9 should hit $5,000 mark between Late July and Late August 2019. Maybe sooner but i feel less certain on that.

$5,000 is my magic number for pulling trigger so this analysis was based on that.

I do admire your optimism :) and I just hope LG sales people are not on AVS :P and they follow what they did last year. I would not read so much into MSRP and do the math. That's usually meaningless and trick to get some extra cash in their pocket. I am sure LG has figured out their true sale price range, hence the lower MSRP this time. Just FYI, local stores still dont have 77C8 anywhere close to $5k mark. As long as you are comfortable buying elsewhere, I will place my bets around thanks giving. They still need to clear out C8s

Yea my analysis was done thinking about AUTHORIZED online dealers, whom i would trust buying from since they are authorized (retailers via Greentoe for example). Those online dealers started hitting the 5K mark for the 77C8 in August. I did not include ebay type retailers or unauthorized online retailers in my analysis, but im sure you could find it even cheaper sooner from those type of places if you are more risk tolerate.

Wow, that was fast. Not an authorized retailer, but they have a lot of positive reviews on eBay and from people on SlickDeals.

Bostonvr6 03-21-2019 07:25 AM

They are giving the same $200 discount on the 77 inch too.

Seen their name mentioned here and there on the forum as being a decent unauthorized vendor.

I'm almost certainly in at $2000 for a 65-inch C9 at this point.

You'll have to be patient for 65C9 prices to come down to earth, but it's looking like a pretty sweet TV (120Hz BFI has now been confirmed, near-black uniformity is looking better than C8, while there remains some concern regarding near-white uniformity, and color accuracy and ease-of-calibration is looking very good as well).

Looks like your patience for the last 3+ years may pay off ;).

$3295 AUD = $2348 USD for a 55"

LG website is recommending $3800 AUD = $2707 USD for it

Not sure if it's a good deal, might just wait a few months.

That's not taking long for prices to start dropping. I'm 90% in for Memorial Day sales if they come down to around pricing last year.

Any experience with LG warranty claims and non authorized dealers? $500 off and no tax is pretty damn tempting...

Similarly, any experience with ABCTvs? Google shows good reviews (96% positive) and they are even cheaper at $2840 with some probably crap 5 year warranty thrown in..

Dave, this is my experience purchasing from FCT and LG honoring a warranty issue on my 77C8 purchased last month - would expect same on C9 TVs:

I had a great experience with FirstClassTVs/i-Electra via ebay and also had the dreaded Loud Hiss of Death on my 77C8.

FCT and LG were both good and I had no problem with the warranty repair and the TV is now running fine.

Just Talked to them. Gift card offer is good to the end of this week. Didn't say if that was Friday or Saturday. I'm going tomorrow to make sure I can take advantage of the offer and put the gift card toward the Panasonic 4K BR-DVD player.

Beach Camera through Amazon

65E9 - $3437 after 20% coupon discount

Includes sound bar bundle - link

Here's differences from the E8, about all I see aside from the HDMI 2.1 is a 2nd Gen a9 processor and Google assistant built in. That and a slightly different stand.

Wow at that price it would be a no brainer over the C8. At $3200 it would be hard to justify C9 or 1900 for C8. Unfortunately this deal expired and several people at SD are reporting their offer was rejected right after that deal was post, so YMMV

I put in an offer for $2199 and got a counter for $2499/FS, no tax including a free 5 year ext warranty. I still have 4 days to accept but there are no 65 C9's ob the site now. Could they cancel the counter or is it binding?
