Sony 65inch A9G Prices

Hello,

So I returned my A9G that I paid full price for and am all over the map. I am still debating between that TV (loved it when it was here) and the LG C9. I offered $2800 on Greentoe just to see what I could get. So far, the best counter offer is $3178. Has anyone paid less than that for theirs?

I haven't bid the C9 yet, but might try some ridiculous offer like $2200 and see what they come back with. My first preference would be the Sony, but the C9 is a close 2nd and if the price difference is great enough, I might go ahead with the C9. Just loved the picture on the A9G though. Has anyone paid less elsewhere by chance?

Thanks!

I paid $2999 for the A9G a few weeks ago through Greentoe. I'm very happy with the TV, especially for the price.

Thanks. Mine is $3178. They actually said my counter offer was $2999 but my State charges tax so the 6% takes me to the $3178 total. Still a good deal considering through BB or Amazon, it's over $4000. Did you pay taxes on top of the $2999?

No sales tax for me because my state has no income tax and sales tax does not have to be collected on online purchases made through vendors without a physical presence in the state. In that case, our deals are exactly the same.

Although we should not mention specific retailers for purchases made through Greentoe, I can tell you that the experience was very smooth once the offer was accepted. Unfortunately, the TV was shipped via standard Fedex, but it was double boxed, which protected the internal Sony retail box from damage.

I returned my A8F and bought the LG65C9 at Costco for $2649. I liked the operating system on the Lg better.

It's a moot point now, but Android TV is significantly better on the A9G than A8F because it uses a more powerful SoC for running the OS. The Costco deal for the C9 is quite good, though it would not be much less than what I paid for the A9G because of sales tax.

Not sure, but I would rather purchase it from an authorized dealer through Greentoe for the same price.

Because there is nothing in Sony's warranty which rules the warranty invalid for purchases from an 'unauthorized' dealer. In fact, there is nothing in LG's warranty either. But all you hear, again and again, on here and on all the Slickdeals threads, is how you need to buy from an authorized dealer in order to have a valid warranty on an LG OLED TV.

Finally, someone who appears to be familiar with the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (Federal Warranty Law) which covers warranties on consumer products.

There are reports here that LG is offering panel replacements for burn in and other issues after the warranty period has expired. Since this type of repair technically might not be a warranty issue, I wonder if LG would act more favorably to people who purchased from an authorized retailer vs. someone who did not.

I also wonder if Sony would do the same. However, the sample size is very small compared to LG owners, so I haven't seen such reports (please point to such a report if you see one for Sony).

Were there much in the way of discounts on the 2018 Models for Sony last year? Thread seems pretty bare compared to the LG one and I think I am going to go with a 77A9G just not in a hurry to purchase if there'll be price drops coming in the next 3-6 months

Living Room - XBR77A9G / X800M2 / X4500H / Klipsch RP260F - RP-504C - R-41-SA (Atmos) - HSU VTF-15H MK2 - Pioneer Elite SP-EBS73-LR (Surrounds + Atmos)
Bedroom - 65VT30

You could get maybe 10-15% off MSRP by using Cleveland Plasma, Greentoe, etc., but the 2018s didn't drop much until they were trying to do clearance after the A9G release, and even then super bargains were few and far between (and still priced high compared to LG deals). Hence the title of the "A9F deals ever?" thread: https://www.avsforum.com/forum/322-oled-technology-great-found-deals/3023394-sony-a9f-deals-ever-3.html

That said, who knows if/when Sony will go a little lower on their MSRP, especially on the 77s that you are looking at (which didn't exist for the A9F).

Dell sells the 77A9G, so it will probably be possible to at least get around 15%-20% cash back at some point this year. As noted, the 77" will probably also be available on Greentoe and other discount sources. There wasn't a 77" Sony last year, and the trackers don't show much movement on the 65" A9F. It looks like the last Sony 77" and the 65" A8F did have lower prices in the last quarter of the first year.

I get the impression that OLED TV panel production is currently near full capacity. The new China factory is expected to start up later this year. I figure that may mean lower 2020 model prices, but I'm not sure if it might show up as lower 77" Sony retail prices in 2019.

eBay has them for 2799.00 with make offer. I know most vendors will only drop a few dollars off that price. 10% restocking fee would make me hesitant though.

The Abe's with a good reputation closed years ago and New Jersey bait-and-switch scammers now use the name. You can Google around for articles saying as much. You're unlikely to receive a TV at the advertised price unless you agree to high pressure phone upsells of severely overpriced HDMI cables, extended warranties, and/or "white glove" delivery.

I did see 399.00 and 499.00 for TV mounts that cost 50-75.00 on Monoprice. I also have bought from them before with ZERO problems. High pressure doesn't work for a person my age. How can they make you agree to high-pressure phone calls? It's been years since I bought from them though. Ebay has them for the same price if you negotiate. "Abe's of Maine. Edison, NJ. Abe's of Maine was founded in 1979 as a small, family owned electronics retailer in Maine. We have since grown into different states in the northeast region, but our commitment to our customers and outstanding customer service has not changed." Reviews are fairly good also. 4.2-4.4 stars.

They can play games with reviews on some pages (get negative deleted). Positive usually overpaid (got shipping insurance, etc.), received their product, and make positive comments because they don't know any better. It's still cheaper than Best Buy or something, but often not as good a deal as initially advertised. If you don't fall for the upsell, they simply don't ship the item (or if they do it is delayed by weeks).

You can try them if you want, but you've been warned. You'll either overpay or waste a lot of time.

I put in 2599.00 a short while ago, no luck. Maybe they came off their price now. They used Amazon as the comparison price.

I put in 2,300 and got counter at 2,599 today so it’s still alive. Great price but the question is should we just wait for 2020 at this point?

I have an A8F 55 and want to upgrade to 65. Would like to stay with Sony - not sure how much HDMI 2.1 will matter to me (it would be nice to have) but the price on the A9G 65 is enticing.

Has anyone got input on what they can get the 77 for? I imagine I'll wait to see what Super Bowl pricing will do since it sounds like there won't really be clearance pricing on them
