During the CDC arc in the first season, it was explained that the zombie virus triggers areas of the brain that drive the hunger for raw flesh. But eating is not actually necessary for their survival.

Some things to consider are:

Sound - noise attracts zombies
Distance - kill from a safe distance vs up close
Accuracy - can't afford to miss the mark
Recovery - can you use it repeatedly or do you have to take time to reload
Single hit or group kill - can it only take out one zombie at a time or a group

Other thoughts?
I think Michonne has the correct weapon. Don't need ammo, quiet and is pretty effective. A machete would be good too.

I think I'd have to make a weapon belt out of a tool belt just to make sure I have weapons for every situation.

Thinking about it more, while the sword is pretty good for walkers, you would have to have something else for contact with other humans that could be armed to the teeth.

I still think a USAS 12 with a couple drums for "in tight" and a scoped 30.06 for range is the way to go.

Thanks Josh. I do recall the CDC arc but not that juicy tidbit which explains all. Must concentrate more.

[nerd rant]Actually, the "must eat brains" zombies aren't the usual fictional zombies. That type didn't appear until Dan O'Bannon's The Return of the Living Dead in 1985. The flesh eating Romero zombie has pretty much been the standard since Night of the Living Dead debuted in 1968.[\nerd rant]

You're referring to a portepee or sword knot. While those ultimately ended up being little more than fashionable accouterments over the last century or so, they certainly started out as functional tethers for exactly the reason you mention.

Katana/machete, pistol of choice and an M4 would be my go to WD gear.

Always wondered about a captive bolt weapon, like in No Country. Just a touch on the head, and splat. Silent, runs on compressed air... just not sure how many shots you get off a reasonable sized tank.

Just catching up on this thread. Couple weeks behind.

I know someone kept bringing up the revolving door situation. 2 against 1 wouldn't normally have 1 person win against the 2. But, in this case, Noah is equal to -1 people. This is why the 1 guy won. I'm glad he's dead. Sad that he got Tyrese killed. New black guy needed for the group. Especially since Gabriel seems to be not long for this world. We're going to have a black guy deficit shortly.

Is the W group an old group, like Rick's, that Deanna let in to protect them, then left them because they found out what Rick's group discovered: they are incapable of surviving on their own. Or they cut out, and they felt they were getting abandoned by their protectors, hence the need for Rick. Maybe it's a group that they exiled. Is the girl Carl took a shine to part of this group, too?

I believe they referenced the name of the group in Talking Dead. There were words painted in Noah's town.

Whatever it is I feel like Alexandria is about to go under new management.

Deanna and group are expelled from Paradise for being intolerable and meet a swarm of Walkers. Rick and the Rockers take over in suburbia and live happily ever after tending a lettuce patch and raising cows. Alien space ship scoops up Walkers to use as mulch on Planet PG-13. Earth and humans survive. More later...

Did you see the movie "Pursuit of Happyness?" It was the Will Smith movie about the real-life guy who practically was homeless while trying to become a stock trader?

Anyway... there's a scene in the movie where he was supposed to interview for a chance at a but has just spent the night in jail after a day of painting... so he shows up to the interview very scraggly, with paint and messed up clothing... but he talks a good game. The interviewer asks him, "What would you say to someone who hired a person who showed up looking the way you do with no shirt or jacket?" and Smith's line is "He must have had some nice pants!"

That's where your quote took me... I was thinking of making a meme with scenes from that Will Smith movie with two captions:

"Carol threatens to drag the boy from his bed at night and tie him to a tree to be eaten by zombies, but the kid comes back the next day for more cookies. What do you say to that?"

"Must have been some damn good cookies!"

Yes I see that movie it was excellent and sad at the same time. I think it even made me cry and that scene you mentioned was also great. But yea man that boy is fiending for them cookies, every time he asks for them I go in my kitchen and grab some of my Chip Ahoys. Anyway so yea make that meme is sounds like it would be funny to see.
See now I want COOKIES.....

Who knows,

The group is called the Wolves.

Also, when Carl was in his new house and he went into the attic, he picked up a comic book called "Wolf Gang" I am not sure if that is considered an Easter Egg.

As much of NIN fan that I am, gotta agreed here as it sounded a bit out of place. I due understand if it was something that her son would listen to I can see her getting comfort in playing it.

Yet it did portray the chaotic mind set of the characters thou, Ricks mental unwrapping seeing meaning in red balloons, Deanna's calculating mood pushing out what ever grief she feeling, Sasha's on the edge flirting with death, Carols can't be right either. So in that case the harsh beats, trashing cords tends to paint a picture of the tense feeling in the air.
