I thought this was one of the better ones. "Eugene and the girls" was entertaining. Dwight's little musical memory montage was well done.

I came out to see if I was the only one disappointed this season. I see I am not alone. They need to pick up the pace and I don't like a whole episode focused on one character. That earlier episode where Daryl was locked up, it was a series bore for me. Negan is a great character and well played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan but they are not taking full advantage of his skills. I would like to see the crew wander around more, not be set in place for too long.

During a random channel change, I admit to pausing and watching 15 minutes .. time I will never get back .. so, yeah, guilty of 15 minutes of white noise ..

I'd have to agree JDM has some acting chops .. but in the case of Negan, he's likely miscast .. or the director is just unable to get it out .. again, this week, it was pretty much the same old one-dimensional character ..

Apparently they think he's unique in the ability to pontificate while being menacing.

Actor may be talented but the character looks lame on TV.

Maybe Kirkham thinks it's one of his best creations so he can make them draw out his stay.

Well, The Fonz would likely have been better at Negan than JDM ..

Blubbering Eugene, hugging his beloved jar of pickles, that guy is hard to take. Resurrecting his fake storyline, that in the end brought him quite the beating. Lets see if he fairs better this time and stays out of the fire.

One step forward, three steps back.

So Eugene finally grew some balls, and now he's gone back to Eugene v1? Also, Dwight left no doubt in my mind he's a moron. I have no sympathy for him. I haven't forgotten the things he's done, and I'm not interested I in why.

First, we see him, his wife, and her sister fleeing the Saviors. They are caught. Fine. Dwight gets violently punished. OK.

But this week, after finding out what his wife did, including leaving, he had to know: 1. He would get brutally punished, again. And 2. He is only as good as his last f*up, meaning he really has no future with the Saviors. He had a motorcycle AND no one monitoring him. He could have kept going.

Yeah, he could come across another group, but it's unlikely they would be as bad (hard to imagine a worse group). He could die some other way, but is he really living now?

Neegan isn't exactly a "Mr. Smarty Pants" either. He kills his doctor because he found a replacement? So he knows Eugene will never die or become incapacitated? OK.

I haven't been posting as much in this thread this season because I'm feeling incredibly *meh* about most of what's going on. I don't love it, but I don't hate it overall.

Regarding Neegan killing the doctor, um, does he seriously think because Eugene is a doctor of chemistry, genomics, etc. that he can handle triage, emergency first aid, minor surgery, etc.? I always thought Eugene was a bit squeamish when it came to blood and gore.

Apparently, sort of. I have a feeling that drug he made (and later refused the girls) will come in to use at a key time later on. I still don't care about this character after all this time though.

Yup. It's clear they are trying to evoke some sympathy for this character, but I also have none, and I agree he should have just run at this point.

Overall though, I still want this Neegan arc finished, and something fresh to happen. I guess it's like wishing for unicorn rainbows at this point ... :-/

For some reason, I liked the last episode. I am not sure if 24 set a low bar last night or what. I don't really care for Neegan or Eugene, so maybe it was just something different than seeing Rick the d#$k.

Having fun playing the new mobile game Volley Village

I thought they said they had a second medical doctor? Not Eugene(PhD doctor).

He killed him because he believes he helped Daryl escape (Dwight set him up).

That was how I took it. Never occurred to me that the replacement doctor was Eugene. Does Negan know much about Eugene other than that he made a bullet and is presumably a 'handy' guy ? Eugene did tell the (3) girls that he had a doctoral degree. No reason to think he told Negan that or anything much, in fact.

They're probably going to bide time until the season finale or maybe the penultimate episode to have a big battle.

So we're going to get build up and a few episodes focusing on one or two characters, like this last episode.

My daughter has a PhD in Anthropology. She has completed her doctorate, she is a doctor, just not a Medical Doctor. I guess Negan hasn't sussed that part out yet.....

Eugene is a Con Man at heart, whether it's intentional or just his way when he gets nervous or threatened .. he's introduced as a Scientist that knows the cure, which later turned out he was a High School teacher .. he's got no survival skills initially, although later does kill some Walkers and did have the "crotch bite" incident ..

He did impress Negan's Harem with the beaker blast .. the question is, did he really make a couple poison pills, and, if so, why did he not give them to the girls .. ?? If they used the pills on Negan, Eugene would not likely be implicated .. or, they really were not poison pills at all and Eugene was just pulling another con .. or maybe they are poison pills and he's saving them for something else .. ??

Thinking that Eugene still is looking out for himself. I believe he said something to the effect that if they f'd up it would come back to him. I was still believing that they were a "test" of his loyalty to Negan. He makes the poison pill and they rat him out.

I think Dwight framed the doctor as a way to get the only good doctor in the group killed. He was not aware that Negan found a new doctor in Eugene. Dwight might have wanted to make Negan's group less secure as they wouldn't be as cocksure without a doc to patch them up.

One thing I think we do know, is that little Eugene is not much into blood and guts. The first time he will be asked to treat some bloody wounded savior idiot, that truth may be exposed, when he faints or runs screaming from the room.
