I think he was hoping to hop on the train of other young actors getting offered roles i.e. the stranger things crew but they are dynamic together as well as on their own. I’ve seen interviews of him and the interviewer always looked like they couldn’t wait for it to be over.

I had no idea Carl was on any show .. in fact, unless my brain is playing tricks on me, I thought his motivation for leaving WD was to pursue his education .. ??

Funny how when they don't see the money anymore and it dries up their "motivation" changes.

I was never a fan of the Carl character or the actor who played him, so I couldn't care less if they give him some kind of cameo appearance. Would rather see one from Sarah Wayne Callies (sp?) if I get to choose. Or any other character, really, LOL.

Why wouldn't it? There are only so many story arcs for the show to do, especially at this late stage of the game and the small window of story possibilities they've chosen to limit themselves to, i.e., no search for a cure, no evolutionary change in the behavior of the walkers, etc.

They'll work this Whisperers thing all season, if not longer.

The Walking Dead showrunner promises 'beautiful stuff' with Daryl and Carol

While much of the attention in season 10 of The Walking Dead will naturally be paid to the departing Michonne (Danai Gurira), a lot of the story moving forward will be centered around the two characters still standing from the very beginning: Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride), seen above in this new exclusive image. “We’re going to see a lot of Daryl and Carol in season 10,” promises showrunner Angela Kang. “Both together in stories as well as pursuing their own paths.”

For Carol, that means once again dealing with an unthinkable loss — this time her adopted son Henry, whose head ended up on a pike courtesy of the Whisperers. “Carol will be surprisingly not exactly in the same place she was emotionally when we ended last season,” says Kang. “The child that she adopted and raised into teenager-hood died at the hands of Alpha and that crushed her. And we’ll see what that does to her over the course of the season as she’s pursuing revenge against this person.” That also leads to the question of, as Kang notes, “where Daryl finds himself as he sees his friend on this path.”

For fans, more Daryl and Carol is always a good thing. “This is one of the strongest relationships in the show” Kang says. “They trust each other, they love each other, they are truly best friends.”
While Kang acknowledges that “obviously there’s a lot of fans that wish for more,” even if Daryl and Carol’s journey does not lead to the romantic destination so many viewers have desired, in many ways the two are even closer than that as friends. “They have just this special bond,” says Kang. “They both came from trauma and from nothing. There’s some really deep stuff between them. There’s funny stuff and then there’s stuff that gets pretty hairy. They’re just kind of on this adventure together.”

Of course, Reedus and McBride have had 10 seasons together now, often giving their scenes an extra layer of depth, and their characters an extra level of emotion. “I love the two of them together,” sighs Kang. “They’re so good together. There are certain character pairings because we’ve been following them for so long where they’re in a scene and you immediately feel the history between those characters. That’s one of the things that’s been really fun for us on the writing and producing side to see. Anytime you put those two in a scene, you immediately feel all the weight of the things that they’ve both been through as individuals and as a pairing over the years. There’s just some really beautiful stuff between them.”

That beautiful stuff will commence when season 10 of The Walking Dead premieres Oct. 6.

Not quite from the very beginning. They were both introduced in Episode 3. After Rick departed, no characters from the very beginning are left.

Possible, sure. But until Fear the Walking Dead gets canceled, I don't foresee him making more than a crossover cameo or two on the original show.

By the same token, Rick could return if the plan to make Walking Dead feature films bombs miserably.

At the moment, however, the show has no characters left from the original pilot episode.

Right. I wasn't disagreeing with you, just pointing out that Morgan is still wandering around somewhere in the TWD story space.

Well, technically, we're not sure that he's wandering anywhere in the current Walking Dead prime timeline. Remember, even though FTWD did a time-jump forward in its season 4 to catch up with Walking Dead season 8, Walking Dead prime then did another time-jump. It's still a couple of years ahead of FTWD. Theoretically, Morgan could get killed off at some time point that takes place between the two.

I don't expect that to happen, but anything is possible.

they are still considered part of the original group regardless if they were in the very first episode or not...it's not like they were introduced in later seasons (like Maggie)

Sure, sure, but the wording of the announcement specifically said that they were there from the "very beginning," which isn't correct.

I just had a great idea for yet another spin-off show! It would be an Asian zombie cooking show.

It would be called:

The Wokking Dead.

If they come up with another WD show (other than those already announced) I should be titled "Fear Watching Another Walking Dead Spin-off".

Season 10 starts up this Sunday...I still haven't watched the 2nd half of S9 yet so I guess I'll start this week...8 episodes to watch...the last episode I saw was pretty cool- when the Whisperers attacked the group in the graveyard...Jesus thinking it was a regular walker came up on one of them to kill him but then the Whisperer did this bad-ass side step move and came up behind him and killed him...that was one of the coolest scenes in years and made me actually think the Whisperers could be a pretty epic villain group

one of the advantages of waiting to watch is that I can now see it in much better quality on Netflix- 1080p versus the crappy bit starved AMC 1080i version

I watch on AMC Premiere, via my Apple TV 4K, and it looks very good. I think the streaming version is of AMC Premiere is 1080P. It costs me $5 a month but I watch several shows on AMC and with Premiere it is commercial free.

I stopped watching at that point too, but mainly because I started losing interest. I was thinking, though, since the show keeps fast-forwarding in the timeline, maybe I can just skip ahead to the start of the new season, to see if it's any better, and not really miss anything. That's actually what I did with Fear the Walking Dead, missing most of the Travis/Chris/Junkie Depp era.

I've also been burnt out on this show for years now but this new Whisperers story actually has got me somewhat interested again...I'm curious where it goes in the 2nd half of S9...I don't like to skip content so I'll be watching all 8 episodes of the back half of last season to catch up...but either way this show needs to set an end date...10 years is a long time...binge watching actually makes the show a bit better because you're watching everything back-to-back

It really seems like you can watch two or three ep's and really lose a minimal amount of the story.
