I almost feel bad for saying it, but am I the only one who doesn't really care if she comes back? I thought the Maggie character was ok, but can't say I missed her. *shrug*

The Walking Dead Universe: New Series Trailer

looks awful...bad casting, same old recycled story just told from a teenage 90210 perspective...I predict a quick cancellation...

‘The Walking Dead’ Movie May Have Some Ninjas – New York Comic Con

Ninja zombies? Exec producers of The Walking Dead released one detail, one word only, about the highly anticipated movie spin-offs of the long-running franchise — it’s “ninjas.”

At a raucous panel with an estimated 5,000 fans at New York Comic Con, one devotee asked Scott Gimple, chief content officer of The Walking Dead universe and series executive producer, for some color on the upcoming pics. What is known is that they continue the story of series hero Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln. He was last seen wounded and whisked away by strangers in a helicopter at the end of Season 9 after saving the remnants of civilization. He won’t appear in Season 10, which debuts Sunday, Oct. 6.

“Ninjas,” Gimple said. “You really got me on this one. We are working on it right now and hope to have some news for you in the next month of two.”

“News with ninjas!” exclaimed Chris Hardwick, host of Talking Dead, who moderated the 11-member Comic Con panel of producers and cast.

Gimple acknowledged a bit later his answer had been “terrible” and elaborated, sort of, implying that the films travel to new places — both in the movie theater, and perhaps beyond.
“There are a lot of things that have been going on in The Walking Dead outside of these characters’ imaginations, of what they know. We will be exploring this through the movie, through Rick Grimes, and even beyond that, opening up the world of The Walking Dead,” he said.

Season 10 will likely feature new cities. The terrifying Whisperers, humans who wear walkers’ (what characters call zombies) skins, will take center stage, said producers said.

This event was an emotional East Coast farewell to Danai Gurira, who’s played badass-with-a-heart-of-gold Micchone. Gurira (Black Panther) is off to her first show-running gig with Americanah, a limited series for HBO Max.

What did everybody think? This felt very ho-hum and now they're back to artistic tricks to try and make the show more dramatic. I wouldn't be surprised if the ratings were among the lowest ever for a TWD premiere.

I thought the premiere was fine for the most part, but the slo-mo battle was cheesy as hell and the part where Carol slices a Walker throat (which would do absolutely nothing to it) and uses its dripping blood to put out a fire was probably the dumbest thing this show has ever done.

You are all being a bit harsh on the episode, after sitting through the steaming pile of s**t that was this season's FTWD and it's go nowhere storylines, TWD felt like a breath of fresh air. You can see where the money was spent; wide tracking shots overhead of the horse riders, the beached ship, walkers that looked way better than anything on Fear, etc. and a genuine sense of foreboding on the Whisperers return.
I think this episode was simply catching us all up to speed with all the characters before everything goes to hell again with regards to the whisperers return. That shot of Alpha looking at Carol, knowing that her borders had been breached was kinda epic. As far as the third spinoff, if it lasts a season i'll be surprised. The last thing we need is a teenage angst, Walker 90120.

It has gotten to a point where I feel a court of law has mandated that I have to watch this show. Last night I thought that the far from perfect "Fear the Walking Dead" has eclipsed this show. Let's face it TWD ran out of gas some time ago. All that is left is the fumes.

When Carol cuts the walker's throat, why is the blood pouring out? They have no circulatory system, the blood isn't moving or being forced out. If anything it should just be thick and not even come out at all unless you tilt them over and gravity takes over, not spraying out in a fan of blood.

What I have never understood is why guns and ammo are in such short supply on these shows. The US is loaded (ha) with guns and ammo, yet they never scavenge any.

I kind of enjoyed all of the slow motion stuff, despite its inherent cheesiness. I think this episode showed more instances of projectiles passing through zombie heads than we've seen before, and I enjoyed Michonne's taking just a little off the top approach. I liked the look of the waterlogged boat zombies.

When fighting a forest fire, one of the primary tools is a shovel. You throw dirt on the fire. Nobody seemed to know that. Those big "indian cans" (silver backpack water cans) are not terribly effective on large fires.

Overall, I enjoyed the episode. But, I think my expectations are not terribly high.

Does it seem to anyone else that they may have upped their cinematography a bit? Some nice shots.

I thought it was okay' It did kind of feel like they were just catching up on everyone. The slow mo shots of action were sort of cheesy. The blood stuff 'who cares its a zombie show. The most corny parts were the opening where they march in like the Roman Legion 's ' I had to laugh ' All we needed was Darrel saying For those about to die we salute you. But the end was Haunting with Alpha looking up at Carol. Looks that the poop will hit the fan next week.

Well, given the prolific way they were expending all their available ammo during the "Saviors" story arc, they may have just run out of bullets. Still got plenty of guns, lordy are there plenty of guns in the U.S., but without anything to shoot, they're sorta' useless.

Yes, I know Eugene was in the bullet manufacturing business for awhile, but he may have run out of the raw materials to make them by now. Just speculating.

Yeah, but there is SO MUCH ammo around, just in civilian hands. With most people gone/dead, there should be an almost limitless supply. To put this in perspective, I live in a state that makes firearms ownership very difficult, and ammunition purchase impossible without a gun license, yet I know a bunch of people who each have >10,000 rounds on hand. They buy a case (1000 for most, 5000 for .22) whenever they find a good deal. It would be really hard to use all that up.

Yes, in fact, as a photographer myself, I wondered if production had ditched the 16mm film cameras that had been used since Season One and switched to digital ..

The current location looks much more tropical to me ..

I'll add that a Russian satellite just happening to fall so close seemed so coincidental .. what are the odds .. ??

As far as ratings go, what I've read said 4 million people tuned in live, which is 34% less than the Season 9 premiere last October ..

Good question. I know they wanted that look of film, but I suppose it would be less expensive to ditch the celluloid, right?

I cannot recall specific shots, but it struck me that they had more visually interesting shots and composition than in the past. Not by leaps and bounds, but enough that I thought I noticed. Same with FTWD. So, it's not just me?

They may not be filming in Georgia anymore since the state legislature is now so hostile to Hollywood and cancelled the tax credit program (I think?). That's what happened to NC's film industry. When the NC General Assembly revoked the film industry's tax credit program, the whole industry moved on down to Georgia. Thousands of jobs (and the tax revenue they produced) were lost, studio facilities abandoned. Red southern states provide good climate and year round filming opportunities, but are increasingly hostile to film production they see as being run by "Hollywood liberals". It's a quandary for the producers, I'm sure.

Well, if in fact Georgia cancelled the tax credit program, which I don't know, then it would stand to reason that the tightwads at AMC would move to a more financially friendly location ..

I don't know if I would dismiss the 3rd spinoff concept so quickly .. plot lines a la "The CW" could be a draw for a younger demographic .. "Riverdale", "Vampire Diaries", come to mind .. not that I watch them, but they do have their audience ..

The law is supposed to take effect January 1st but already some studios are walking back threats to moving production elsewhere. Tyler Perry just opened a massive studio here. The shooting location for this episode was Driftwood Beach in Jekyll Island in coastal Georgia.

They buy a case (1000 for most, 5000 for .22) whenever they find a good deal. It would be really hard to use all that up.
Not at all. I know some people who shoot many thousands of rounds each month. They are at shooting ranges almost daily.
