Cool. Looking forward to the characters smashing zombie skulls by flinging rubber bands and cotton balls at them next season.

I wonder if Negan was set free by Father Gabriel and sent as a Trojan horse to the Whisperers. Kind of a join them gain their trust and betray them.

So I got sucked into a late night viewing of Starship Troopers on one of the movie channels. About half way thru I see this actor who is familiar but I just can't place him. Must have been that last rum and coke stimulating the ol' synaptic transmission, because it just hit me. It's a young Father Gabriel.

I don't recall his name (can't IMDb it, that'd be cheating) but when what's left over of Rico's squad is transferred to the Roughnecks, he's the first person they meet. He even punches out lil' Busey. Wasn't yet a man of the cloth.

Highlight of this show is now Neegan. He just cracks me up. Love his one liners. Amazing, hated his character so much in the beginning, things sure have changed.

Okay, so Dante was a Whisperer all along? I couldn't tell if that was supposed to be Siddiq's imagination or if he realized he was the one holding his eyes opening at the massacre.

Unless it was confirmed in the Talking Dead show, I wouldn't be shocked if Dante just put Siddiq to sleep so he could finally get rest and didn't actually kill him.

Siddiq is dead. Yes, Dante was a whisperer and apparently held his eyes open at the massacre.

I had the same confusion. I thought Siddiq was just having another PTSD freakout. However, it was confirmed on Talking Dead that Dante really is a Whisperer spy and Siddiq figured it out.

Another wow moment. Did not see that coming' Hope Dante get his. Looks like Carol is the only with any balls anymore. And Dante gave the whisperer the Hemlock to kill him on purpose to keep him from talking. Lots going on leading up to the seasonal break next week.

Yeah, I did not make the connection between Dante and the PTSD visions that Siddiq was having at all. Was Dante shown clearly? So, when Siddiq was looking at the hatchet I was thinking WTF is he going to try to kill himself or something? Then, when he and Dante were fighting, I really didn't get that it was more than restraint until they showed Siddiq's arm sort of go limp. Even then, I thought he choked him out to unconsciousness. I think they could have handled that better to make it more clear what was going on. Even a few words of dialogue would have clarified.

Oh, and what exactly were they showing at the pond and the water valves? Was it that the water was what was making people ill because someone had done something to the valve?

Next week's preview was pretty cool.

FWIW, I thought the guy playing Siddiq put in an excellent performance on this episode overall.

Yes. Someone, possibly Dante, had deliberately turned the valve taps upside down because they knew the Whisperers had been contaminating the water supply with Walker blood and guts.

Pretty good episode in a season that's been fairly solid so far. Did miss Negan this week, though.

All of these things definitely could have been made clearer. I notice that this is another episode directed by Michael Cudlitz. I don't normally even notice the difference between one director and another on this show (as you shouldn't, because all episodes should be consistent in style), but Cudlitz is quickly standing out as one of my least favorite directors for the series. I think the guy should probably stick to acting.

This season has been the season of mental issues, between Carol and Siddiq seeing things. I have found that element of uncertainty relatively entertaining.

Well, the Whisperers do wear masks most of the time.

Has she interacted with Dante? I don't recall and almost want to look back to see if perhaps he has deliberately avoided her.

I think every Whisperer would know who their group doctor is, especially the leader's daughter.

Dante treated Lydia's injuries after Henry's friends jumped her.

She knew immediately who that guy was who Carol captured.
Also, since Alpha was telling everyone lies about killing Lydia, why wasn't Dante upset by that like that one female Whisperer was?

These are fair questions, but I don't think they're unanswerable. There are a lot of Whisperers, and most of them wear masks all the time. It's possible that Lydia didn't interact with Dante much if ever while they were in the woods.

As for Dante not being upset that Alpha lied about Lydia, do we know exactly when he was embedded? Maybe she sent him on this mission before she started telling everyone else she had killed Lydia.

I thought that was due to Alpha making out she'd sacrificed her own daughter so when the female Whisperer's sister's child and then her sister was killed she could sort of deal with it - but to discover Alpha's daughter wasn't dead at all...

I thought this was a pretty good episode for the most part, but I feel like Carol must be suffering brain damage to walk right into what was so obviously a trap.

I liked that the episode opened by immediately answering the question of why Lydia didn't know Dante, as if the writers were anticipating viewer complaints.
