IMHO, there's an abundance of cool stuff happening in this season's episodes, surprisingly way more than many fans were expecting. Just be sure that you "check your brain at the door" before viewing! There's a ton of special effects this season, with some great comic-book-worthy stuff like the tractor-trailer with a cloaking device, that "portal paint" that makes quick escapes a cinch, and a revitalized/resurgent S.H.I.E.L.D. I think a lot of fans thought season 6 would be merely a tedious search for Coulson, with show after show of nothing much more than May and Quake beating the living hell out of villains (to cater to the huge overseas markets--like China--which seem to just love pretty girls dressed in black, kicking the crap out of baddies in fight sequences).
Totally badass alternate-Coulson is a hoot, and gives Clark Gregg a chance to have lots of fun with a new wrinkle on Phil (or NOT-Phil...or whoever he really is). Looks like the alien "Enoch" (actor Joel Stoffer, doing his best "Spock-like" takes) is technically another character on this show who's both dead and alive in different timelines, just like Coulson.
I loved the scene where Enoch and Fitz pull the "Superman II" trick on the bad guys, switching the airlock controls to eject them out into space.
And I really wanna get me a can of that portal paint. Sure would come in handy around the house.
