Yeah, the cast changes are worrying, especially with the removal of Jay and Matt, both of which would make sense to be a part of Elizabeth's White House team. I'm guessing some of the people who got cut will still appear in some of the episodes, e.g. the series finale, but who knows what Elizabeth's team is going to look like this year...

Makes them recurring characters. They just won't get weekly billing. They weren't on every episode during the other seasons.

Well the final 10 episodes kicked off to a rocky start. To me it seemed disjointed and not quite up to the previous seasons. I'm happy we got a time jump and did not have to put up with the campaign, but the transition should have been a bit more seamless.

But, we do get the campaign, in flashbacks.

I liked the touch of having a campaign stop at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre, which I didn't even know existed. Harry Chapin is one of my all-time favorite artists.

I'd love to say more about the excellent episode, but I'm sure that it would be considered political commenting.

I sort of liked the new season. At least in the first episode, they didn't write all the stupid stuff they did last year. And Ramirez is gone. But so is Stevie.

Yes, but she is not scheduled to be a primary cast member - more of a recurring character.

Separately, I also liked how they did the title card swing - Madam Secretary/Madam President.

The way the post was written, it made it appear that Stevie was gone for good.

I see they (as I expected) are doing flashbacks to the campaign.
We will miss this show even if it makes reality simpler (and more pleasant) than it is.

Perhaps it is my imagination. But, are they making Teá look "older" now that she is President? By that, I mean her hair do, glasses and make up are different. Compare her as President to the flash backs of the campaign. She appears to be somewhat "younger" in the flash backs. Maybe they are trying to show that being President "ages" a person (?).

Just an observation.

One more episode...

In a way sad to see the show go, but I have to say I have not been enjoying the last shortened season with Madame President as much. I miss the "team" and the interaction. Wonder if we will get to see all the kids before the end.

I've been enjoying this last season of the show. The "dynamics" between "Secretary/President" are different and I find it to be a nice change. The story line (this season) of the impeachment I've found to be quite interesting due to what is occurring in real life politics. The show has had a good run.

In this episode, it was a twist to see her reverting to being in "Secretary" mode when meeting the Chinese diplomat.

I thought it might end with either removal from office or resignation, now that that is out, I wonder if there will be a time jump in the final episode of her leaving office after serving two terms.

It was, for all intents and purposes. The last episode will be the equivalent of the Epilogue segment in all the old Quinn/Martin productions.

Good idea. Perhaps the final episode would show her out of office after two terms. And, the episode would be a retrospective that has flashbacks to when she was a professor (at a university/episode 1), her "big deals" as "Secretary" to her accomplishments as "President". It would be interesting, IMO.

For me it was a good wrap. Enough going on besides the wedding to keep it interesting. If they got to this point by the 3rd or 4th episode I would have enjoyed the season more. They spent too much time of the investigation and trial. If it was a full season and they were setting up this conflict for a later pay off, fine, but with 10 episodes, not so much.

I am unclear on the status if the ERA amendment, just a few weeks ago I saw a blurb that Virginia might pass it leaving only one more state to go to make it final. Will have to research it.

Ok, it looks like the ERA amendment is still alive and Virginia would be the last and 38th state to ratify it. There is some question about he time line but one amendment was proposed in 1789 but not ratified until 1992!

What exactly did you expect? This show was about diplomats and getting things accomplished via interaction and with force as a last resort. What did you want, an assassination? More of the crappy investigation and impeachment? I had my fill. The writers needed a story that could be wrapped in 42 minutes and a way to get the other players back on the screen, this accomplished that. High drama, no, but a good wrap.

This week's episode should never have been aired.

I enjoyed the Series finale. They brought other characters back to try and close out the story on them.
I was certainly glad they gave them ten episodes this season to close out the show.
I will certainly miss this show.
