I've quite enjoyed this series so far - I kinda like that the show doesn't get bogged down in political machinations, and focuses on the big picture. It's a very fun show to watch

As for the RPG, it's entirely possible that whoever the target is is "only" injured.

I also suspect that the new Russian "cutie" President is the target. Reading the faces and body language of the military leaders around the conference table, even they think she is a loose cannon.

Shame, nice eye candy ....

I think they are scared of her since she is unhinged.

I find the writing and the interaction of the characters to be improving over time, so much so it's my second or third favorite show. I like the fact they toss in the everyday life situations - if you are the SoS-- like the neighbors and the kids issues. No, it's not West Wing quality writing, but it isn't about the President.

It's funny that you mention The West Wing. It was one of the shows I didn't watch during broadcast for some reason, but I am now watching it on Netflix. While a little uneven here and there (what show that was on for 7 years doesn't have gaps), WW was fantastic.

In comparison, I don't think Madame Secretary is structured to maintain the story arcs that WW had, but maybe it's better for the ADHD generation.

Overall I enjoy the show and will continue to watch

Speaking of POTUS, looking forward to seeing Jack Bauer as president in his new series.

On the bright side, Madam Secretary doesn't have any Sorkinesque preaching or diatribes in it. (It does, however, contain plenty of "walk and talk" sequences.) The West Wing was a serial, but this is CBS. That's not how they roll.

Anybody else miss the show this week? Madam Secretary on my (Dish) DVR was actually a recording of The Good Wife. I'm on the west coast ... if that matters. Late football game push the schedule or something?

Schedule was modified for late game this week, MS at 9 ET, GW at 10 ET, no CSI:Cyber. Not sure why that would affect west coast. In addition, roughly 5 minute game delay on top of the rescheduling. My Tivo knew of the schedule change, but I had to add a 5 minute pad after the clock ticked on 60 Minutes. Bottom line: Sunday is ALWAYS FUBAR on CBS, check the schedule, then physically check the start of 60 minutes. When they run out of football and basketball to delay Sunday, we'll have tiddlywinks delays.

I just pad The Good Wife by an entire hour, plus the usual 5-minutes-after pad I add to all shows. That way, whenever Madame Secretary starts, I know the rest of it will be in my TGW recording along with the entirety of TGW.

TiVo with six tuners. Gotta love it.

What does it matter by now ? You can watch it free on the CBS website like I did or maybe in a run time app on an extender . The schedules got skewed in either or both SF and SACTO markets IIRC ...I use both of them

Any West Coast watchers actually see the show? Just trying to see if it was on and I missed it or it wasn't on and will be re-broadcast at another time. Dish clearly had the wrong schedule, so my recordings were FUBAR.

The most amusing thing about the SoS in this show, is that she is always making decisions a Prez would make.

My wife and I sit there laughing and saying "what does POTUS actually do here?". Although we mostly enjoy the show, it borders on the absurd at times and its politics are less than subtle.

Agree and ,POTUS is like an empty suite front man in that show and more than that the plots are trite IMO.

I'm just not fond of the show lot's of better stuff outside of the big 4 broadcast networks in general to watch out there but I definitely like The Black List,The Good Wife and Code Black

Maybe Las Vegas also. We DVR both MS and The Good Wife (Dish). We got TGW but only about 5 minutes of MS. The DVR says MS is a hour long, but the recording bails early.

I have Dish and viewed the show on time in the Mountain time zone. Shows are shown tape delayed here just like they are delayed on the west coast. Don't know why you would have had an issue.

This last episode [Myanmar] was a disaster, especially after the well executed mini arch with the Russians. One facepalm moments after another. Blake's silly AGW hysteria,[yeah no political leaning there] and let's freeze the secret service guys outside to death by shutting off the engines apparently means "meeting in the middle" which was the underlying theme of this episode. The meeting with the neighbours was the highlight here which is a telling by itself how this was the worst episode of the entire series so far.

This show show is worse than bad since the first few episodes IMO . I wont be wasting my time with it this week especially after the last episode. Hopefully they will put us and it out of our misery and put something better in it's place ( the Good Wife is decent ) but TV execs probably aint the brightest folks in the room or it never would have been on to begin with

MS and GW recorded on time last Sunday in PDX area, although IIRC, I never found the previews. Occasionally a local sports event interferes with timing on Sundays, but that hasn't happened lately, except for tonight, with the X-files starting about 25 minutes late. Here it's mostly a problem when east coast has an unexpected delay -- they can't let us see it first, or even at the same time.

My program guide showed that Madam Secretary tonight was 2 repeats, not new episodes.

ridgefamus, RayGuy was asking about west coast for the week prior to last night, and that was normal programming here.

But your schedule for last night, showing 2 repeats of Madam Sec -- the Portland OTA schedule showed only 1 MS repeat. Maybe yours was a local cable substitution? Both PSIP and TV Guide online showed an added (new) second hour of 60 Minutes at 8 pm, followed by repeat Madam Sec and NCIS at 9 and 10.
