According to this article in The Hollywood Reporter "The Missing" will have a 2nd season. Reading the article may hint at the ending to the first season, slated for Jan.10th, so suggest skipping unless you've seen the final episodes on VOD or read some of the SPOILER posts above. -- John

We finally watched the last two episodes last night. I think they tied up all the plot points and loose ends very well (except what they wanted to leave vague). Overall, it was a very well-done show, and very deeply moving.

I was surprised to see the announcement about a 2nd season at the end, but why not? I assume it will be a completely different cast.

Yes, different story, location and cast for the second season but created by the same team.

Similar to what they're doing with Fargo season2, except younger Lou Solverson will be part of the story.

Our library just got this DVD and we watched the first 5 last night. I like it much better than I expected to. Has some similarities to Broadchurch (e.g. the sleazy journalist) but the dual timeline adds an interesting dimension not to mention forcing you to pay close attention. Also interesting for the actors to get to play both the younger and older version of each character - the guy who plays Baptiste does it brilliantly. Seems like it would be quite a challenge deciding how much to reveal in each timeline to keep the story unfolding in different directions but at a good pace in both, while gradually connecting the threads back and forth...

I'm not hearing anything about a Season 2 release date or any news in general...it's been over a year since Season 1 ended...have they finished filming?...I loved Season 1 and thought it was one of the best mystery/thriller/drama shows I've ever seen

Tons of hits if you Google season 2, including oldish trailers. There's apparently an entire 'release date' industry now with sites wanting your name and e-mail address. Perhaps BBC1 will show it first. -- John

First episode of 2nd season aired. Anyone else saw it?

I am happy that Baptiste is again onboard. I expected a complete new set of characters, but it looks like Baptiste is the connection between both seasons. I really liked this character in season 1. Tchéky Karyo's english with a slight french accent (not the typical overboard french accent) is lovely imho.

The story is quite a clutter at the moment. Just when you thought you knew where it could be going, they opened another time and story line.

Spoiler!

Well my Tivo Season Pass doesn't even register it or show any upcoming episodes.

They coded it differently or something.

Don't see any upcoming either.

any date set for a Starz release?...or even BBC America?...I thought Season 1 was absolutely brilliant...I can't imagine them topping that amazing season but am looking forward to seeing what they come up...being that the same writers (Harry and Jack Williams) are back writing every episode for Season 2 I have high hopes

That's because it isn't scheduled to be aired on Starz yet!
It first airs in the UK on BBC One.
Poster should not have added to the Starz thread.

for Season 1 Starz aired each episode 2 weeks or so later then BBC One...so I was hoping Season 2 would follow the same pattern but it doesn't look like it...does it air on BBC America?...or is that a separate channel from BBC One?

It's actually coming back in February, on Sunday, the 12th.

Apparently season 2 had big ratings in the UK.

Feb 12 - we're definitely in! S1 was a stunning mystery-drama. Well written and great acting. High hopes for S2.

Starz has announced that all eight episodes will be available starting the same day as the season premiere...Season 2 premieres Feb. 12, with the remaining episodes instantly being accessible to Starz subscribers via the Starz app and on demand

http://ew.com/tv/2017/01/24/starz-th...eason-2-binge/

excellent news...I binge watched Season 1 after hearing so many great things about the show and it lived up to the hype and then some...one of the best mystery/suspense shows I've ever seen...looking forward to seeing if they can match or exceed the first season...anyone from the UK watch the entire 2nd season?...how does it compare to Season 1 overall?

Episode 1 of the new season is now available On Demand (and probably through streaming as well)...debuts officially on Starz this Sunday night along with all the remaining 7 episodes of the new season...I'm probably going to binge watch it Sunday and Monday...it's sad that this thread is only 2 pages long...I thought the first season was one of the best limited series I've ever seen and I'm hearing amazing things about Season 2 as well

^^^Watched season 2, episode 1 yesterday, after a 2nd search in Starz's premium-channel folder. Looks like it's a fantastic series addition, especially after the episode ending. Thanks for the news about the availability. -- John

EDIT: Came across a summary of each S2 episode at the IMDB site as someone mentioned earlier.

Went through all 8 episodes and the first foretold how good this season would be. Wow, the French detective, who also stars in season 1, is the ultimate in persistence.
Spoiler!

I was only going to watch the first 2 or 3 episodes last night, but ended up binge watching the whole thing. I really liked the season. I think it helps, a lot, to watch all the episodes as close together as possible. With as much going on, it's difficult to remember everything from week to week.
A 3rd season would be nice.

I just watched the 1st episode of Season 2 on Starz on Demand...I'm hooked...the mystery of Alice Webster is just as interesting as Season 1's Oliver Hughes abduction...the picture quality is absolutely stunning...the detail is amazing- facial detail, color etc...really sharp picture!...I might just watch the entire 8 episodes tonght

the best way to keep up with the various timelines is the characters hairstyles (along with the burn scar on David Morrissey's face)

I watched Season 2 with Starz HD on Demand over the past few days...Harry and Jack Williams (the writers of all the episodes) have done it again...what an engaging, beautifully acted, moving, complex and smart series...I didn't think they could surpass Season 1 but they might have done it...I did prefer the darker ending of Season 1 but overall I think I liked Season 2 a tad bit more...the way they weaved all the timelines and storylines into a cohesive story by the end was a work of art...having the same writers and director for every episode probably helped as well

the cinematography and picture quality were also amazing...the Williams brothers are on my list of best TV writers as they really know how to tell a story and I love how they don't just wrap everything up neatly at the end and give everyone a happy ending...really first rate series and one of TV's finest...too bad the show rarely gets mentioned when talking about the best dramas on television...it deserves way more of an audience...can't wait for Season 3...too bad it takes 2 years for a new season to come on the air

I loved it as well. Loved the twists and turns and the reality of the ending. There was some darkness to it in how things ended.

It seemed like a mashup of "This is Us" and "Twin Peaks".
