If I'm not mistaken, it's a federal law so no variation state to state. A married couple cannot be forced to testify against one another.

Makes sense. Now that I think of it, I heard of this legal point in connection to a 60-count federal indictment against of Rep. Duncan Hunter and his wife regarding wire fraud and campaign finance crimes. She ended up cutting a deal with prosecutors to testify against her philandering husband after he threw her under the bus, blaming her as campaign treasurer for the misuse of funds. He finally ended up pleading guilty.

This is was an excellent episode on several levels, mainly that "Saul" has really taken over now and you can see the "Saul" character in every moment now of Jimmy's life. I love the interactions with him and Kim now, she is really a damaged person who can't help herself around him. Saul will be her demise for sure.

Looked like Kim's Mom was rocking an AMC Eagle. That car used to garner laughs and contempt back in the day. It's got the last laugh though, smaller, jacked up all wheel drive station wagons are everywhere now. They just call them "SUV"s. Even the general profile is the same.

Also, Nacho's AMX is pretty sweet.

Both BB and BCS make you feel compassion, and even root for some screwed up people that we probably shouldn't root for. I will say that Jimmie's prank on Howard cut my compassion in about half. That was some cold **** right there. Yeah, Howard's a prick, but he's a stand up prick. Patrick Fabian plays him to an absolute tee.

Loved seeing Beret Girl again. That whole film crew is amazing casting.

After Mike's meltdown in front of his granddaughter and Saul's senseless pranks to get back at Howard, aside from Kim, Nacho is emerging as the most sympathetic character this season.

I'm hoping he and his Dad get the Hoover MaxExtract travel plan instead of the Belize vacation option.

Saul didn't sound like he was speaking posthumously when he mentioned Nacho in the "Better Call Saul" episode of BB.

I don't think that's right. Federal laws would only apply in federal cases, not state cases. It is, however, a general rule to have a marital privilege and many states probably have that privilege set forth in a statute.

When they went to burn the restaurant down and Gus was shutting the door that had a double keyed deadbolt on it, the deadbolt was extended yet he was able to shut the door. Had they previously kicked the door in and I missed it?

Well, they dealt with Jimmy's previous marriages in a pretty simple way. Almost a cop-out but also pretty cut and dry.

Wow, kudos for figuring this out!

I think Jimmy blowing up at Howard was compounded by his inability to deal with the murder victim's family in the courthouse and knowing he was directly contributing to the opposite of justice. Clearly, money was chosen over justice, and these developments around both Jimmy and Kim are significant steps down into darkness.

Jimmy / Saul just plain hates Howard ..

At his roots, going back to his childhood and the Family Store, Jimmy has always been drawn to the dark side .. a man torn between doing the right thing and doing the wrong thing .. we're now well past the time of doing the right thing .. the yelling fit with Howard seemed to be the final nail in the coffin, Jimmy has made his choice ..

Another wonderful episode ..

I had to kind of think that scene over .. I guess a raw / perhaps frozen, chicken explodes when it lands in some really hot, boiling oil .. the Insurance Company and the PD would be scratching their heads over the cause of the arson fire ..

I wasn't sure how that was going to ignite the explosion (the chicken falling into the fryer) but the basic cause the fire marshal would find be the gas leak. There would be no evidence of any accelerant. With a gas leak, a ton of different things could ignite the explosion including a refrigerator.

Edit: a little research finds:

I originally thought Gus had first opened up some gas lines because you hear a hissing sound throughout the scene. But now after seeing the video, I'm not sure if he was just turning on the fryers to heat the oil. On the other hand, though just the frozen chicken in the hot fryer looks to be enough to quickly start a fire, I don't know that it would be enough to create such a major explosion that would devastate the entire restaurant in seconds.

The video is a turkey so much bigger. They did open up the gas line though.

Fring opened gas lines as soon as they walked in, then Nacho started smashing things and Fring did his setup. I don't know if that would allow enough gas to be in the air to cause that explosion but putting 'frozen' stuff in a fryer can get exciting. If you've ever put frozen french fries (or similar) into a deep fryer and there's ice crystals on them, it won't ignite, but it will bubble over or come close to it. When you hear stories about people deep-frying turkeys and they catch fire, it's because the turkey is typically still not 100% thawed out all the way through.

Even if the chicken didn't fall into the boiling oil, you figure it would have caught fire at some point as long as the burners underneath the vat of oil was going strong?

Gus knows everything about Kim and Jimmy
She has become like Nacho's Dad > leverage
Jimmy doesn't know it yet but she is now a major liability / disposable baggage
and don't think Gus or the Cartel will hesitate to treat her as such
But the choice will be made by Jimmy . .

"just when you think it can't get any worse . . ."

"You have no idea what I'm capable of"

Jimmy has no idea of what he will be forced to do

maybe "Vacuum Ed" will ride to the rescue, financed maybe by Gus or Jimmy
Kim's death is faked
and
POOF!

The fans are all happy : she made it out . . .

The fryer burners were on full blast. When the frozen bird hit the oil it would have erupted oil all over the place and caused a pretty big flash-over. But this is TV so it has to go boom.

Yeah .. gas leak or not, I think .. I have to hand it to the writers .. a very innovative idea .. I wonder if anyone has ever tried this DIY arson in real life .. ?? I'm sure the chicken blew up and destroyed any possible reconstruction of the event by Insurance or Authorities ..

Before he did the frozen bird thing, he turned on some natural gas that was escaping into the room. The gas exploding is what caused the boom.

Yes, I noticed that too; if you watch as they exit the restaurant through that door you can see enough of the door jamb to see it was splintered, apparently by the door being kicked in.
