Marvel's 'Daredevil' on Netflix

Wasn't sure where to place this. Here or in the streaming section. Decided on here since it is a tv show after all.

I'm looking forward to this show. Like the gritty look and hoping NF has HBO like freedom.

Quote:
"Marvel's Daredevil" follows the journey of Matt
Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued
with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice
by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero
Daredevil in modern day Hell's Kitchen, New York City.

I've never been that much of a Daredevil fan but that trailer looks pretty good.

Make something idiot-proof, and they will build a better idiot

I wasn't particularly a fan of the Ben Afflac movie. But this looks good and Marvel seems to have the Midas touch nowadays. Plus it has a good cast including Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.

Marvel's first original series on Netflix is Executive Produced by
series Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight ("Spartacus," "Buffy:
The Vampire Slayer," "Angel") and Drew Goddard ("Cabin in the Woods,"
"Lost," "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," in addition to writing the first
two episodes of "Marvel's Daredevil"), along with Marvel TV's Jeph
Loeb ("Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," "Marvel’s Agent Carter,” “Lost").

Sounds like a winning formula to me.

According to IMDB, the first 6 episodes and pilot are mixed by Marc Fishman (FilmMixer here at AVS).

Retread? Of what? That other blind lawyer by day, crime fighter at night guy? Save your hot air, you need it for your deflated kin.

This show will live or die by the stuntwork and choreography. Coincidentally, neither of those things are in the trailer.

Well, there's about 3 seconds worth, but yeah, agree with your general point. Because without some significantly improved stunt and wire work, this baby looks like Arrow without arrows.

I do hope it's great, though. I like the Daredevil character and I was one of the three people that liked the Affleck movie.

I didn't mind the Affleck movie either. I thought Colin Farrel dragged the entire thing down with his hammy overacting and ridiculously oversized scar.

It's one thing to have Murdock all brooding and hiding the shadows like a sad Dark Knight to make a dramatic trailer, but given the character is an expert in martial arts he needs to be able to act like it and look good doing it. I don't want to watch Daredevil just brooding for an hour because it wants to be all adult and serious.

The Netflix version is already making him The Man with Fear, so I'm not expecting him to courageously and dramatically leap off buildings (I expect he'll be parkour-ing about and using fire escapes) but he's called Daredevil for a reason. Let's see him jumping into the middle of danger that a regular action-cop wouldn't.

And it cannot possibly have worse fight sequences than those of Marvel's Blade TV show on Spike.

That's EXACTLY what's wrong with the movie; remove Ferrell and it's a winner, Bennifer and all.

Garner was an okay Elektra too I thought. Until she headlined her own movie. The CG-palooza gimmick villains ruined that film for me.

And Michael Clarke Duncan was solid. Casting D'Onofrio as Kingpin seems like a good decision for this version.

Love Garner, and to agree, the Elektra movie really blows. Duncan was a fav too, but actually too small to be the 'Pin.

I hope the folks that hated the earlier movie saw the Director's Cut. The theatrical version sucked, sure, but the 2 hr, 20 min version is a much better movie. Don't get me wrong...it's still a flawed film (that playground sequence...ugh!) but the extended character development (and the addition of Coolio) helped a lot. And I actually liked Farrell in this. The look in his eye sitting next to the lady on the plane...priceless! "More peanuts."

I was an extra for a few episodes and I can say that, unlike the movie, there won't be ton of CGI/Wire work.

I did too.

I'm not sure the charge of "overacting" is a valid criticism in a comic book movie.
I mean, superhero comics are ALL about being over-the-top.

There's going "big" and being "bad." Ledger was big, Farrell was bad.

Colin Farrell belonged in a Joel Schumacher Batman next to Arnie.

The trailer looks good enough to get me interested. Dare it say it though, it looks a lot more DC-ish in tone than the lighter Marvel Cinematic Universe.

All 4 of the NF series will have a similar tone. It's less "DC-ish" and more Frank Miller-ish. (As you probably know, Miller's work served as a basis for the Nolan movies as well as "Batman v Superman" and his Daredevil arc (including costume) seem to be the foundation for the new series.

While they are part of the cinematic MU, the goal is to keep the NF shows tonally different, more street-oriented, and grittier than the usual Marvel fare. Would you really be interested in a light-hearted Daredevil series?

Looks like we have our first connection to the MCU. A villain from SHIELD will be making an appearance on DD. Won't spoil who; you can go find the info if you want.

First look at Vincent D'Onofrio as The Kingpin. Pvt. 'Pyle' has come a long way.
