Truth be told, I wish the whole show had been a series of those kinds of snapshots, all over the country. Would have been a more interesting approach than the one they took, focusing on that one very boring family in their very boring neighborhood.
Agree, that would have been way more interesting. I was hoping that family would have been eaten in the finale and we'll start fresh in S2. But alas, that's not to be. Looks like they're on the boat and we're in for some swashbuckling zombiejinx on the high seas.
Spoiler!

I thought the airplane story was supposed to tie in with FTWD in that 1 character would become part of the show...as far as FTWD itself, I found it underwhelming...moving the show to an urban setting and showing the early days of the outbreak seemed like an inspired choice which had real potential...but the show turned out to be boring and events moved way too fast...by the end of the season it seems they were already growing impatient with the format and felt the need to turn the show into WD 2.0 LA with more zombies

I've never watched these airplane episodes but I've seen the teasers for them. Isn't the Latino kid who tried to sneak the butter knife into school part of it ? I'm guessing he was elsewhere and saw (or heard about) the "apocalypse" starting and flew back to LA.

No, Tobias is not part of the airplane clips. The clips are not finished. I suppose we have to wait for the season season to air before they will complete the stupid one minute story line.

Yeah, because all we saw was the first half of the season when they went on hiatus, we've only seen half the clips. My guess is when they're over and you add them all up, they'll come out to roughly the same time as a regular episode -- 43 minutes or so.

I think BSG did something like that, at least once. Released a bunch of on-line snippets between seasons that told a self-contained story (but still fit into the canon). When you added them all up, it was essentially another episode. I think they left them out of the BD box set too, which really ticked me off.

Last summer, when AMC’s Walking Dead spinoff Fear the Walking Dead aired its six-episode first season, viewers were promised that an upcoming Walking Dead web series, titled Flight 462, would introduce them to a new character who would join the rest of the Los Angeles-based survivors as they worked their way through the early stages of the zombie apocalypse...although it was an official tie-in/spinoff to the highest rated drama on cable television the minute-long snippets of passengers soon to be trapped with a newly christened member of the undead sort of came and went without much in the way of serious fanfare...but thanks to a new promo for season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead, the little zombie-filled web series won’t be remanded to the dustbin of popular culture

The advertisement completely forgoes dialogue, instead opting to remind viewers what went down during season 1, finally hinting at the promised connection to Flight 462 with the sound of an airliner flying overhead, its shadow streaking across the water of the Pacific Ocean...

I so hope they make it to the boat and we see that for awhile. Will be nice to see something different then running through woods. But knowing Kirkman, someone will destroy the boat in episode 2.

It looks like HULU got the rights to stream Fear the Walking Dead Season One .. I wonder if that's a sign of things to come for AMC .. ??

Yeah, I watched it on Hulu+ and liked it enough to probably buy the upcoming season when it debuts. Zombies for adult tastes.

Inverse happened with "The Blacklist" as apparently Netflix got rights and so this past season has not been available on Hulu.

I'm just wondering if HULU is going to start getting all the AMC stuff and it won't be on NF any longer ..

TD, among others, promised with FTWD we would find out what happened at the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. Personally, I found out more about that watching Rick in a coma. It was more interesting too!!

That doesn't include the cause of the outbreak. That has never been on the table. We found out what happened when it started (and how people reacted), that's about it. There was never a promise to show the "how".

I enjoyed the first season which is playing on Hulu. I planned not to wait almost a year for season two want buy the season but now I see AMC went a little crazy and ordered a full 12 episodes which I bet they will break into two sub seasons. You have to buy the season upfront and ought to break the buy option then into two parts as it's more affordable that way.

We saw what was happening in LA, but had reports from other places. Let's face it they are not going to do a ton of location shots for this show, just to show the same thing happening in other places.

I'm pretty sure season 2 is a split season .. which I really don't care for and don't quite understand what started that trend ..

I found the first season rather boring, but I'm willing to give it one or two episodes this season. Here's to hoping it gets better.

I don't plan to watch season 2 because I didn't think season 1 was very good. The only way I would even consider watching it is if they kill off the a**hole drug addicted son. Even then it might not be enough.

As far as I know, pretty much every show on TV does the split season crap. At least the ones that air during the winter. They all take Dec off and some of Nov and Jan.

That's not really split. Most shows take holidays (Christmas New Years is about a 2-3 week hiatus). This split season is MONTHS difference, which is not common. We don't normally see a season split into two distinct "mini seasons".
