I loved it. I loved how there was no real hard SF explanation, just a general discussion about evolution (i.e., no technobabble). I love how all of the expected tropes of the genre got turned on their heads (at least a lot of the time). I kept expecting them to physically come together as the series progressed, but then realized the entire point of a sense8 is that physical proximity isn't necessary. I loved their story arcs. I loved the dynamics about sexuality and gender identity (even as some of it made me a little uncomfortable). I loved Sun and Lito the best--his polyamorous dynamic was wonderful and beautiful, and the woman in the relationship (I forget her named but LOVED her character) was an unexpected joy and totally not what I expected her to be.
And the editing...Jesus, it made my head hurt thinking about the continuity problems of filming the same scene on different continents and then seamlessly editing them together. Just wonderful.
For those of you who are SF readers, this struck me as a middle-stage Samuel R. Delaney novel in it's themes and ideas.
