Binged watched this. It was so an inconsistent mess of good and blah. The show when sticking to the mythos and moving the plot line along is when it works. Then they throw in unnecessary drama and gratuitous sex scenes just drags the show down. I can't believe I said that because I am usually the last person to complain about gratuitous sex in any show. .

However, I can't help but feel it's being thrown in your face and it feels forced and not organic within the story sometimes. I am in for next season but I hope they stick more to the story or it might be my last. After watching Jupiter Ascending I was pretty convinced I would never waste another minute watching anything the Wachowskis were involved in. I didn't even realize they were involved until 2 episodes in.

Hoping they renew this for Season 2. Generally Netflix had been quick to renew their shows...but as far as I know they are still debating whether to renew this show or not. Watched it with my wife and we both like it.

I'm sort of with you. I liked it enough to keep with it. It could definitely go off into a direction that I change my mind on if there is a 2nd season. A good part of it was the typical 1st season discovery of what the heck is going on. It took its time but most of the characters are compelling though there are some stereotypes. Now it has to do something else.

Well, we made it about 6 episodes and got bored. It had a lot of potential at first but felt too much like lost to me. Didn't seem like it was going anywhere. Oh well.

Also, I feel slightly gayer now that I've watched this show Some of it was just way over the top and out of place. Seemed like they threw it in there because they could, not because it helped the story.

Interesting article. Thanks for sharing. I hope Netflix gives this series go ahead. Will certainly binge this season again later in the year.

The first time I tried to watch this show, I was bored. I thought it was slow and discombobulated, and I didn't even make it through the 1st episode. However, when I tried watching the 2nd time, it was a completely different experience for me. (That happens sometimes, it just depends on my mood and frame of mind.) I ended up binge watching it. Now I can't wait for the 2nd season. I just watched the "making of" documentary, and it brought back all the characters and complexity of the series. I'm glad to hear they renewed it. I thought it was extremely well done.

OK, I am glad I gave this show a chance, as many people that I know criticized this show. I liked it, but it definitely had its problems.

1) It was a little to slow to develop.

2) It is basically a big game of hide and seek. The Sense8 people have not really done anything.

3) The whole don't look into Mr. Whispers eyes is very ridiculous and makes me think of the bogyman. If he takes control through those special chemical connection, why doesn't it work when they are unconscious as well.

4) Way to many sex scenes and they go on to long. I have no problem with LGBT sex. Even if it was hetro sex it was still way to much. Sex scenes in shows and movies that go on to long or to much, confuse me. Once we establish and intimate connection between the characters, what I am supposed to do during a five minute orgy? Whip out my junk and rub one out? I remember fast forwarding through a few sex scenes in Masters of Sex also.

5) Nothing much really happened. Basically it was all setup to get them working together. Now what. Luckily they got the second season to maybe make some sense of it, otherwise it would have been wasted time.

I'd agree that they should tone that down in Season 2. They can have as many scenes if they want, but as you say, they need to be shortened.

I just want them to be within the context of the scene. Too many times it felt like it was just thrown in there to have one of those scenes. It was so forced.

Did they change some of the actors? Several of those people in that clip look different, I know they changed out Capheus, but some of the others also look different. Maybe it's just the passing of time since we've seen them last.

I believe everyone but Capheus is the same. Although Will has facial hair now, so he looks slightly different. It's been a year and a half since season 1, so it's probably just time. A good reason to release the Christmas special 5 months before the rest.

Critics and other viewers elsewhere had the same opinion I did that the Wachowski's seemed to have lost their sense of storytelling. I only gave it about 25 minutes though and might revisit later. It seemed like they threw together some deleted scenes from their second season shoot for a holiday promo for the coming season.

Ditto .. seemed like maybe they were just trying to keep the name / show alive in viewers heads during it's hiatus ..

After watching the entire series a bit ago, and just recently the so called holiday episode, I don't remember what's going on. I watch so many shows I couldn't remember what the back stories were for most of the characters. I didn't even notice the changed actor.

Anyway, what was the plan they are supposed to be following, that involves relying on the cop character?

No discussion of the 2nd season at all yet? Strange.

I finished it yesterday, having watched a few episodes at a time. Pretty good; I liked the ending. I like how they took the offensive against BPO instead of continuing to hide in fear.

I also liked the replacement Capheus (though I was fine with the original).

Just finished Ep.7 last night and I've been enjoying this season even more than the first(well, other than the streaming issues I've posted about in the appropriate thread).

I'm enjoying season 2 as well. I'm midway through episode 6, and the pace has slowed down a bit, much like the episode 1 "holiday" episode, which I didn't find as bad as a lot of people had said. Sure, there weren't any world-changing events, but it did move each individual character's personal story forward and give us insights into how they were adjusting to their new lives.

I'm not a big fan of the new Capheous actor, and it took me a few episodes to figure out why: his physical appearance reminds of Baroid Bonds, who has forever tainted one of baseball's most cherished records.

I'm on ep 3 and enjoying it quite a bit. I really think they did a good job with the actors/characters. Not happy they changed Capheous as the new guy seems less vulnerable but still like the premise and the interchanges.

That's what I get for copying someone else's spelling instead of looking for the cast site.
