Might as well just cancel the series then. Elliot is the main character so this show will just "annoy" you

Yeah, that's probably what I'll end up doing. I do like the tech aspect of the show, just not Elliot.

I have really been enjoying Elliot and the job Rami Malek has done portraying him. Elliot's combination of brilliance and utter lack of social skills has fascinated me. I have known more than my share of IT guys just like him. Well, maybe not just like him.

Havn't gone back through the thread for the last days posts, but I gotta say. I'm a lil pizzt, that some of you brought up Fight Club early on...like the premiere. Now, I watch everything scene with Christian Slater noticing everything. I liked that movie, but had forgotten it. Now every scene is viewed with how the characters interact...and Slater only deals with Eliott. The last scene told it all and it was spoiled...but, I probably wouldn't have tripped to it without reading this thread.

I don't lurk as much as I used to and I NEVER listen. Comes from being old and cynical.

Agreed, I am enjoying the show a lot. Rami is doing an excellent job.

It was one of those things that was hinted at too much I think it's one of the things to look forward to each week. Who is real who is not? Hmmmmmmm

Mr. Robot - USA Network

Tonight's episode was a huge head trip. Seeing this world mostly through Elliot's eyes is going to throw people way off. I must say though this is one of the best new shows on TV.

Loved the Hackers Movie reference. I also like how they are throwing "commercials" as part of the show. Keeps you on your toes for sure.

Best episode so far.
Awesome stuff....officially Must-Watch-TV for me.

My only complaint (and minor, at that) is the magical-realism sequence in the 2nd act could have been cut down a bit.

The drug withdrawal induced hallucinations for sure didn't help, but I think the extended time was don't to create an uncomfortable feeling for us. It seemed so long because it felt so long for Elliot himself. Once the season is over I may go back and "binge" the show to see if it plays any different.

Initially, one of the 2 guys(?) in the room mentioned it would take 2 weeks for the detox to run its course.
In which case, the long 2nd act makes sense and seems reasonable.

Yeah, but they only had 2 days to act on Steel Mountain, so it was probably like a day and half at most. It was like the middle of the 29th and they were moving the data on the 1st. And we still need them to get into Steel mountain in the next show. I didn't care for this episode. Never been a fan of pointless trippy and it went on for to long. All probably to get the one guy to acknowledge Christan Slater and then it is meaningless because it was all in Elliot's head.
So now the show is like 1/3 Fight Club, 1/3 American Psycho, 1/3 Twin Peaks. Wonder what show they will rip off next? I liked the first 2 episodes, but these last 2 are beginning to lose me. Will give it a few more before I pull the plug.

If you look hard enough almost any tv show "rips off" a previous show/movie. I don't get twin peaks (that's more wayward pines) but to each their own.

I think many of us had the same theory about CS. Although the one guy left the room towards the end of the episode and said "keep giving him those" or something to that effect. Who was he talking too? The dream sequence was a throw away in regards to the theory ofcourse.

Also, the preview for next week might be misleading but CS appears to interact with other in that preview.

This episode was straight up crazy.

Yeah, when I heard him I instantly thought of Anderson. Now he's a talking fish. I guess there are no roles he won't take.

Insightful recap from Vulture,

Mr. Robot Recap: Casualties in Every Revolution

This show is getting better and better as we go, to the point where I'm cautiously optimistic that it will become a long-lasting example of the finest TV has to offer. It's only been 4 episodes, but hopefully my optimism becomes a reality.

Did they show him during that scene? I didn't see him or just didn't notice. Maybe that is how they will get away with it. Although, like I said in the preview when he throws down that piece of equipment, the other actors appear to react.....I guess we will find out if it's just more bait and switch.

They did show the other guy he was sitting in a chair close to the window in the front of the room. We never saw him leave, which is why I say what I do.

Previews can always be deceiving it's pretty much set that CS is a figment of Elliot's imagination (at least to me it is).

In looking for Mr Robot clues I did find one thing interesting, he has a shadow. Not sure it means anything, or if it's just something none of the production staff thought of but in the office scene when he gets up from the desk he casts a shadow into the doorway.

In regards to the episode I too agree the hallucination ran way, way too long.

He's real in Elliot's head so he would just like everyone saying E corp says Evil Corp when we are in his POV (same with the written version of their logo). I'm thinking that Mr Robot while Elliot may be a representation of his father. We keep coming back to the loss he felt from that and him trying to cope with that loss.

I was wondering to myself on Tuesday if Mr. Robot was Elliots' father or had something to do with him.

This sounds vaguely familiar. A "robot" being Elliot's father. I can picture the scene when it's revealed:

Elliot: [shocked] No. No! That's not true! That's impossible!
Mr. Robot
: Search your feelings; you know it to be true!
Elliot: NOOOOOOO! NOOOOOOOO!!!

Loved the pilot, but found the last episode very dark and depressing. Not sure if I'm going to hang or not.

Totally agree! I can deal with trippy scenes if there's some intersting symbolism at least but I really didn't see any. Basically nothing actually happened in this week's episode.
