It's a few hours for the new system, a few days for the one that we saw at the house.

Agreed. I'm still mostly convinced William is the MIB, most of the evidence is pointing to it. Only this one little issue throws me off. If they reveal he is the MIB than either they will come up with an explanation for this issue or it will be a minor plot hole.

But it strains credulity that Delos would try to handle Ford the way it has. Fire Bernard and hopes Ford retires gracefully and leave the IP to the company?

No if they had to force Ford out against his will, they'd go to court and get a judgement in their favor and they'd bring an army of cops and security personnel to escort Ford off the premises, not giving him a chance to delete the software or destroy the park and all the hosts.

Instead they send this woman who parades herself like a party girl (and answers the door buck naked?), only to concoct some faked demonstration of a homicidal host so that they could fire Bernard? That just gives Ford a warning to prepare to fight (which he probably was anyways).

And then even more incredulous, Ford has Theresa murdered.

How is that going to fly?

Is he going to have his robots kill anyone who tries to apprehend him, including presumably some kind of authorities?

He wants to preserve his park and his creations but murder would be the easiest way to make sure they crack down on him, close down the place.

Firing Bernard was just the 1st volley. It was not meant to get Ford to retire (Charlotte already said they knew he wouldn't). They needed to force him out and starting with his "people" is a perfect way to start. It would build the case of improper handling. Also, Ford was already aware of what she was there to do. He mentioned specifically every now and then they come to do this (it's sort of a "game").

You should watch the current episode as some of your answers are there.

1) cost, the hosts are not cheap to make. They can transfer to a new body, but that may not be an easy process. She has been upgraded a lot per what was said in the show, so she is more "new" than old.

Episode 5:
Ford: "Tell me, Dolores, do you remember the man I used to be?"
Dolores: "I'm sorry. I'm forgetful sometimes."
Ford: "Hardly your fault. I'm sure you remember him. Arnold. The man who created you."
I'm not sure why there is some resistance here to the idea that Ford is Arnold, because it really seems like the most likely possibility to me.

Didn't someone quote that line when we were discussing this before?

Until we see more of Arnold and his demise FordArnoldBot is still a possibility to me.

When I click on those thumbnails it goes to the page of the actress/actor with the same picture around eight or ten times as large as the thumbnail.

And then if you click on that large picture you get an even larger version of the same picture. That is the only thing on the screen.

LOL, so I'll save myself the reply about why that's besides the point.

However, there used to be a FF GreaseMonkey or Slylish script that enlarged the icons from the higher resolution versions stored elsewhere in IMDB. I couldn't figure out how to get it to work years ago, so I abandoned it.

Pretty lame of IMDB not having a simple setting for it. It would be much more useful for me to scan down a page full of larger faces looking for an actor.

I would like to make a bold prediction, as I haven't seen this posited anywhere else I've seen.

I think William is not the MiB. And, the MiB is not even HUMAN. He is a host. An uber host that is like the chaos agent created by Arnold to cause menace and unpredictability within the park's various narratives. His memories of his wife and daughter are just the backstory created by his maker to make him think he has been doing this over and over for 34 years.

The key dialogs from this week's episode were from the MiB who says that he wanted to do something truly evil by killing off a mother and her child to see how he felt. But he felt "nothing" because that was his programming. He was just a chaos agent and never felt any emotions towards his victims. When he saw Maeve show genuine pathos at her child's death, he wanted to get to Maeve's programming state, and he needs to find the maze to find his good self. Arnold must have created a zone near the maze where hosts become more "alive". Maeve felt true sorrow for her dying child, and the MiB felt true shock of his actions. He desperately wants to get back there..

Delores and William will run into Wyatt, Teddy and the MiB in the next couple of episodes, near the maze, and in a final act of remorse, the MiB dies trying to save Delores from Wyatt; and Delores escapes the park with William.

<Fade to black>

Anything is still possible yet and MiB being a host has popped up before (I think everyone on the show has been suspected at some time or another) so it's something that could apply. Have we even ruled out that he is not actually Arnold?

One thing we do know however is that the park guns see MiB as human and cannot injure him.

Depending on what direction the show takes it could be Mother of Terminators.

There are a lot of lobotomized naked androids sitting in a basement just waiting to steal some clothes, boots and er, a motorcycle/horse.

@raaj it came up very early, well because of certain outside sources it was then left behind just as quickly.

Then the disclaimer in my opening sentence covers my ass..

In the opening weeks, everyone on the show had been speculated as being a host, but I haven't seen any sustained speculation about the MiB being a host. In the last episode, MiB even says "Arnold's game cuts deep!", and I don't think we've heard the MiB ever refer to himself in the third person, so I don't think he is Arnold, or Arnold's conscience in his bot-brain.

Like being 2 places at once?

Edit: Actually they were not having that conversation at that same time and her being killed. Elsie called Bernard while he was talking with Theresa, however the show didn't make it clear how much time had passed between Bernard talking to her and his "alleged" killing of her, but there was definitely a gap.

Well I do think MiB=W, but their reasoning regarding the knife and shirt are very weak. (I stopped watching that vid halfway through).

This is a period theme park. They're supplied the clothing they need, and it makes perfect sense that multiple people might pick out the same thing. Same for the knives, guns, gunbelts, hats, etc., etc., etc.....

I can't help but think that since they've made the Will - MIB similarities so obvious that they will throw a wrench into it and freak everyone out. They had to see all the speculation coming. The show has never spelled it out so they can still do whatever they want.

Well, we have never seen William & MIB in the same shot, right? If there are two different timelines they've hidden it well. So I suppose we've never seen the Westworld infrastructure from that era? Every time we see inside the Westworld apparatus it always takes place in the present?

I'm also wondering if we've seen William with Maeve? Her "madam" character is relatively new, as MIB was his present age when he killed her in her prairie mom loop to see if he'd feel anything. So if we've seen Madam Maeve and William in the same scene, like in her Sweetwater brothel, that would disprove the theory.

I curious to see if they give any type of closure to any part of the several story lines in this season. Not necessarily complete wrap up just a peek behind the curtain to clarify some things????

I was reading somewhere that the show will definitely answer some questions at the end of this season - such as where the park is. According to Nolan and Joy each season is going to be a chapter in the ongoing story.

I mentioned this earlier. If you rewatch the second episode the show tricks the audience into thinking Maeve and William are in scenes at the same point in time, but they never appear together.

We have definitely seen old androids being made in flashbacks when Ford or Bernard was explaining the park history and according to eagle-eyed watchers there may be some clues as to the time scenes are set based on the backgrounds. Such as when William first arrives the Westworld park logo is different. Of course that could just mean the guest arrival suite is a different department with it's own branding.

Wow, cant believe I've caught up with all the posts. Someone needs to make a spreadsheet of all the timelines, characters, who's Arnold , who's not.. on this show.. The location of WW will be a nice reveal, its certainly not Frontierland in Disney World..Two more episodes to go in a row without pre-empting for Frosty the Snowman..I'm ready for next season..
