IMHO, a waste of a HT setup. I'm sure you can dim the lights, sit with your wife and sip wine. And have a much better visual and audio experience to boot. But, that's me.

Not for me - it's just extra unnecessary hours on my projector. We watch plenty of movies in there - that's why I had a dedicated HT built. I prefer to do my TV watching on my plenty capable Sony 75x940C. If there is a show I really want to watch in my HT, then I will, but that's very rare. As I said, besides movies, I typically only watch sporting events in there - mostly baseball (yeah I'm an Astros fan - hate us), NCAA basketball and football, and my beloved Cowboys and many other NFL teams. Of course, there aren't any of those to watch right now.

I built a 5 seat (expandable to 7) dedicated HT, designed a room in my new house just for that particular purpose. It's interior, so completely light controlled, and opens up onto a corridor behind so that I can have easy access to the gear. The floor & ceiling are both bi-level and the walls have homemade acoustic panels for appropriate reflection/diffusion control. It's a 7.1 sound system. I built it right before home Atmos came about so I didn't wire the ceilings for speakers, and there is no attic above where I could run the wiring and install flush-mounted speakers. 120" AT 'scope screen with a JVC 4810 projector & A-lens that uses e-shift to upconvert HD images. Pretty nice setup (that's my AVS avatar pic). And I hardly ever use it anymore.

Why? Because I got a new LG 65" C9 television for the living room 3 months ago. I already had a nice DD5.1 sound system in there. Because of the high coffered ceilings, I was able to surface mount 4 indoor/outdoor overhead speakers and wire them up without having to get into the ceilings. So, I now have an OLED TV and a 5.1.4 sound system in there, and the 4K/HDR A/V experience is waaay better than my theater, especially if there's an Atmos track.

So I find that's where I'm spending most of my TV time. We only go into the theater now for the occasional BD or sporting event or when we have somebody over for a "movie night". But that's all shut down now, so the RiverRat™ Theater sits largely dormant. One of the downsides of these amazing new OLED televisions in the 4K era.

At least the Astros got a head start on the virus. They saw the signs early on.

Yeah, they went a bit too old school on that. All the other teams, that are also sign stealing, are just better at it and didn’t get caught. Part of the game and always has been. Love all the comments from baseball players acting as if they were shocked. Priceless.

I'm not finding this very engaging so far. Almost like gawd-awful Star Wars with the episodic wipes.
Evan Rachel Woods seems to be doing a breathy Jodie Foster circa Silence of the Lambs thing.
As much as they want to machinate this, it just feels like a bunch of stuff happening with an explanation tagged on.
Not sure why Charlotte is fooling anyone.

I’m enjoying this season a lot personally. The cinematography/sets have been A+ and I find the story interesting as they are moving out of the park.

Tessa almost has the same speech affect that she did when she was housing Dolores/Wyatt, but the only person it could be is Teddy or possibly Abernathy which are the two people she trusted and had tendencies towards violence. I may be leaning towards Abernathy right now though. Tessa having to play Hale, playing someone else, must be “interesting”.

I am liking the Dolores and Caleb storyline as well. Showing that all of this life frustration was controlled by an algorithm and no matter how hard you try you would never get farther than you are has to be disheartening which makes him a perfect new “Teddy”. I did chuckle a little when he said Dolores was the first real thing that had happened to him in a long time.

We also know now that the guest data is out there somewhere and that Dolores is the key to unlocking it. I’m thinking that the hosts will win regardless of if Serac gets this information or not and they do unlock the decryption from the after credits scene last season.

May not be for everyone, but I’m enjoying the ride. Also, Djawadi continues to do a great job on the soundtrack, his work is almost taken for granted these days.

I saw the Inside the Episode.

Obviously they spent money on the production design to represent the future world.

The developing plot and the characters in these new settings?

Eh. /shrug.

My immediate thought was Charlotte = Teddy. Guess it could be Abernathy, but the way the dialog was structured, as well as that "cocooning" scene, makes me lean toward Teddy. Clearly, there were aspects of Charlotte they didn't know about which required Teddy to improvise on the fly, and he seems to have her salty dialog and condescending personality down pretty well.

So all that time the last 2 seasons Charlotte had us - and Delos - convinced she was trying to the IP out of the Park for Delos before Ford was able to destroy or permanently encrypt it, she was really a "double agent" and going to sell it to Serac. Well, that's an interesting twist. But considering she already had all the money & power she could possibly want at Delos, it's hard to see her motivation in betraying her company. Maybe there's more to be revealed on that front.

And always good to see Michael Ealy again, if only briefly. I've been a fan ever since Showtime's underappreciated terrorist drama 'Sleeper Cell' about 15 years ago.

Based on prior comments regarding audio, I took a shot and streamed EP3 via HBOGO via an AppleTV 4K.

Surprisingly, I only had 2CH sound. Rather than try to troubleshoot the issue last evening, we sucked it up and and just used DSU to decode to 5.1.4.

I thought I may have missed a setting in my ATV box, but it looks like it is an issue with how the episodes are delivered via HBOGO.

Oddly, I did a quick check of other HBO content (Alita), as well as non-HBO content (SW TPM via Disney+) and had no trouble getting MCH PCM or even Atmos where available. I then spot checked S1EP1 of WW, and it was playing in MCH PCM, but S2EP1 was 2CH, as were all epodes of S3.

I can also access HBOGO via a FireStick4K, but it transcodes everything to DD+ so that may not be apples to apples. The state of affairs in the streaming space is a bit of a hellscape in that certain apps may work differently via different streaming platforms via different systems. Or in the case, maybe HBOGO is only serving up S3 of WW in 2CH.

As far as this episode, uh, it was fine I guess. I sense a lot of style over substance here in the last two. The style is very very good, as are the sets, but there's really not much happening. I mean, you could condense the whole thing down to twenty minutes or so and not lose anything in the way of getting the story across. IMO.

I also still can't say I root for or empathize with any of the bots/androids/synths. I did a bit with Bernard but that went away last season. Not in the way I did with Data, Roy Batty, or even the mechanical drones from Silent Running or Interstellar. They just seem kinda nasty and mean.

I mentioned host Charlotte could be Angela last week in this thread, but after the instability (not feeling comfortable in Charlotte's skin) and cuddle scene with Delores, I'm now leaning Teddy.

My initial assumption was that Teddy is in Charlotte's body, but looking it up, I'm reminded that Dolores uploaded Teddy's consciousness into the Forge so that he could go to Robot Heaven in the S2 finale.

As Josh said, Teddy went to the Forge with the rest of the hosts that were “freed”, so I doubt it’s him. I don’t see that “cuddle” scene as romantic, it’s more of a comfort/love (non sexual) type thing. I’m thinking Abernathy or Angela as outside of Teddy Dolores didn’t have many close people. Both Abernathy and Angela have that “switch” that would lead to protecting Nathan as well.

That is a compelling argument. But to continue to make the case for Teddy, as far as him being "uploaded" to the "Valley Beyond", why couldn't Deloris simply have made a copy, a second brain-pearl, for Teddy? He would thus exist in two places. Do we know for certain that's not possible?
