It does look very interesting.
I think it could really work with the right showrunner(s) in place.

From the trailer, it looks to be going in a different direction than the movie. Less amusement park; more "The Prisoner". That's fine, could be cool, but why then call it "Westworld"?

They could call it "Hello, Kitty" with this crew and will still be good.

I too have hope for HBO's version of Westworld. I loved Michael Crichton's original and hope that HBO can do Crichton justice.

finally after all the production delays and uncertainty HBO has confirmed a Fall 2016 premiere date for Westworld...my guess would be September 2016 (in the old Boardwalk Empire timeslot)

Thanks for the report! I have had a wishlist for the show setup on my TiVo for an ice age.

I've never heard of this, have no idea what it is, I didn't even see the trailer. I saw Anthony Hopkins in the screenshot and it became a must watch, its that simple

I am cautiously optimistic. I love the original film, but my fear is this will be typical HBO, with a modern interpretation of the original story with lots of graphic violence, nudity/sex, and F-Bombs added in.

Not that I really mind any of the things in the right context, but I don't feel Westworld needs any of it. Fingers crossed.

but HBO is also known for having excellent casting, feature film type of budgets, intelligent storytelling and international filming locations...of all the networks I'm totally confident in HBO

I'd like for this to be good... but I also consider the source...

Westworld already had a sequel Futureworld... and a TV series... and then Jurassic Park (all the movies by the same writer) all kind of are variations on a theme... Corruption in management at a theme park leads to chaos and death... so I don't know how many times they can do it and keep me interested. But I'll give it a shot.

sad to hear about the oink-ster...I'll raise a glass of Pig Juice to honor him...as far as Westworld I'm hoping that we see a trailer soon now that we sort of have a release date- Fall 2016 (most likely the trailer will debut during the GoT finale on June 26th)...I see Westworld being the spiritual successor to Game of Thrones

In the right sort of thing I am foursquare for bloody violence, full frontal nudity, and graphic sex. I too, though, wonder how well nudity and sex, for instance, could be made to work in a show about a theme park full of robot cowboys. A little bloodshed might be all right. Guess we just have to wait and see how the Prestige Network handles things. Fortunately, their track record is pretty good.

there's already been controversy during filming as background extras have had to sign consent forms agreeing to participate in “graphic sexual situations”, including “genital-to-genital touching” and posing “on all fours while others who are fully nude ride on your back"...so yes a show about androids will apparently have very graphic sex and nudity

I think it's long been known what the first true-to-life anamatronic robots will be used for. It's always been a dependable driver of technology.

Being that this is HBO, no doubt the first sign that the robots are going rogue will be some dude getting his junk graphically lopped off while plugging one of the Saloon Girls.

HBO was practicing last week by showing a close-up of a man's junk on Game of Thrones...they've also had practice with Deadwood which took your classic Western and added in tons of F bombs and nudity...I remember people being shocked when Deadwood first aired as no one used those type of curse words back in the real Deadwood...HBO has shown that they can take any genre and curse up a storm with graphic sex
