IDK, that's what makes it fun for me, seemingly disconnected chaos!

I had to wiki the comic after the first show to get some details. Mostly to find out what the kid was all about. I know certain things that definitely help to understand. Also the talking preacher show they did for the first show will help you, if they offer it on demand. They aren't doing any more until the finale.

I also read the Wiki page. It does help explain well what is happening to him. I now understand why the others didn't survive like the preacher was able to. Some of you might get spoiler phobia reading it?

Disjointed or is it that we are supposed to do the heavy lifting of making connections. (much like a comic)

Or maybe it's only episode 2 so we shouldn't know everything yet.

I feel like the viewer is given enough info to follow along and enjoy, while the show is clearly indicating there is more to these characters than meets the eye, and more will be revealed as the story progresses. It's simply that kind of show, and in that, more like a quirky indie movie than a YA superhero/action/paranormal popcorn flick. And I say that as someone who normally hates not understanding what's going on.

According to the creators, the show is a prequel to the books.

I heard the complete opposite. They said they were trying to do a take for take re-make of the comic but decided to add some other elements because it didn't play well but they still tried to stay as faithful to the events in the comics.

It's what they said on talking preacher.

Edit: they also covered that. They thought they would just use the comic as story boards but couldnt. I forget why though. It may have just been the pilot they were talking about for prequel. As I don't think them meeting(preacher and vamp) was in the book?

Yes they said the pilot was more backstory, etc. but the whole show is not a prequel, they are already into comic book territory.

I really enjoyed this episode. I know I'm not the only one who looked to see what type of 4K TV was in the box?

I was a bit angry that they took it out of the box and left it exposed to all the dust that was blowing around. That's no way to treat a fine piece of HT gear!

I'm really enjoying this show so far. I love the off-the-wall craziness of it. I don't particularly care if it takes time for it to get anywhere. Most times the journey is way more fun than the destination.

This is one of the most beautifully, creatively photographed shows on TV since Breaking Bad, which was outstanding. And I like everything else about it, too...

Exactly, I havent consistently watched anything since BB finished. Its over the top, all over the place and I dig it. Pure entertainment, nothing to get serious over, which in these crazy times we live in, I appreciate being able to check my brain at the door and roll with it. Im all in and look forward to watching it every week

Gotta love Quincannon's negotiating technique. This show is like a jigsaw puzzle trying to figure out where everyone fits together.

When the episode started I thought for a moment I was watching the wrong show. I suppose the relevance of that 19th Century character will be made clear as the story unfolds. Also it would be nice if Jesse's power could be used to improve Arseface's appearance.

This show is so weird. It just does things without any organic transition. Just bam. Don't worry we will get to it later.

I was looking over my upcoming recording schedule and noticed on Thursday at 9pm there's a "bonus" episode of Preacher, you might want to check your DVR to be sure it catches it.

Preacher TVMA (SVL)

1&2 and 3&4 air back to back. I was wondering what they were, since I didn't find much actually on them.

I wonder what 'Bonus Edition' means...are they showing new footage?...unrated footage?

You got me, I'm guessing it's some background on Jessie but whether that means new footage or not your guess is as good as mine. Seems like an awful lot of airtime though, I'm showing 2:35 mins on my TiVo.

I've seen some other shows (on other channels) do this, for example MTV's "Shannara" series ran "bonus" episodes that included the equivalent of pop-up trivia with the episode. We'll see which way they go with Preacher here shortly.
