Really great show. Almost bond-vibe but better.

Sounds good - looking forward to it. Any possibility it will go beyond a one-time miniseries if ratings warrant?

I doubt that.

Final episode has a satisfying end. That's not a spoiler, because everyone know's how such stories end. But the way it ends is actually pretty cool, clever and very satisfying.
Edit: There is a slight chance they could spin it (you will know what I mean when you have seen the end) but I doubt it.

During the first few minutes I feared the show would completely happen in the past but it then switched to present, which i liked a lot. By the end of the first episode I really wondered how they were going to make a series or even a mini series of that story. I couldn't imagine everything happening in one hotel during his night shifts. But then it kicks off and you understand pretty fast where this is going.

It's a simple story, nothing new. But the writing is good and the acting is just superb. You will hate Mr. Roper.
And the whole vibe, the score, the locations... also very well done.

Plus, Hiddleston's services seem to be in high demand lately. It would be nice to see another series of this, it's very well crafted TV.

Positive reviews and a John Le Carre source novel indicate this could be very good.

But it includes partial nudity and swearing and is being broadcast on AMC. So like many other UK imports intended for adults I guess I'll have to watch this elsewhere so I can be slightly offended unedited.

AMC is hoping for lightning to strike again after the success of Humans with a Euro import?

Supposedly the source novel took place decades ago but they relocated the story to the Arab Spring, 2011. Le Carre executive produced the mini series and supposedly there are talks about another season.

Hope the upcoming mini-series is better than A Most Wanted Man , which I just caught on VOD via FIOS. Too plodding IMO. Maybe the author's role here will help. Used to set manual DVR recordings way ahead by date/time, but erasing them to avoid unwanted recordings was too tedious. The extra mini-series hours could enhance viewing if they use it correctly. -- John

A clear introduction to the series, setting an ex-military hotel night manager against a villainous arms dealer (Hugh Laurie). When the manager fails to save a woman friend and hotel guest from being murdered, he's recruited by an equally outraged woman British intelligence agent to penetrate the illegal arms gang. The manager (Tom Hiddleston) avoids danger by moving from Egypt to the Swiss Alps--an abrupt but obvious edit made clear by the Alpine scenery. The previews suggest Hiddleston, super pollte in this introduction, gets into some fisticuffs next week. Maybe he's ex-SAS. Anyway, the lesson is be careful who you give hotel-copied arms llsts to. NY Times review. -- John

For those using a Tivo, mine didn't recognize them as new episodes because they were tagged with an original air date in February.

Same problem on Dish and the episode number started with 8 (next week is 9)? Odd.

Dang, my Tivo thinks this is an old series because it has the dates from the UK airing, from 2/21/16 on.

So I had to set it to record repeats to get it on the AMC schedule.

It airs Tuesday nights with repeats the rest of the week?

I'm thinking this looks like a good series to hold off and binge-watch - any thoughts?

I watched the first two eps, and thought it was pretty good. Then I watched ep3 and it changed from "interesting" to "riveting". Hope the final three are as good.

How did you get access to all of them?

Isn't AMC airing only the second episode this coming week?

I watched the first episode last night, and really enjoyed it. The plot is evocative of Hitchcock (innocent man gets sucked into intrigue and danger). The acting is very good, and the cinematography is gorgeous.
