I think something else is coming into play with the C61K and resolution settings other than SW level. I have not seen this issue since I installed the C61K over a year ago, and I don’t have my specific power-on sequence. It could be something in the handshake with a specific brand of TV (I have a Sony), or the AVR (I have a Marantz).

I see this about twice a month on both of my C61K’s, sometimes more, rarely less. The Genie drops the resolution when I change the channel from an SD channel to a 4K channel. Occasionally, I get the cable issue message, but usually I get the device non-compatibility message. Frustrating.

I might be late but programming on 104 now showing HDR

Also saw HDR on channel 105 on the splash screen

Update , now all the 4k sports events on my DVR are showing HDR, must be a recent software update

It's not HDR. It's HLG. Here's a Wiki definition:

Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) is a high dynamic range (HDR) standard that was jointly developed by the BBC and NHK.[1] The HLG standard is royalty-free and was approved as ARIB STD-B67 by the Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB).[1][2][3] HLG is compatible with standard dynamic range (SDR) displays.[1] HLG is defined in ATSC 3.0, Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) UHD-1 Phase 2, and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Rec. 2100.[4][5][6] HLG is supported by HDMI 2.0b, HEVC, VP9, and H.264/MPEG-4 AVC.[7][8][9][10] HLG is supported by video services such as BBC iPlayer, DirecTV, Freeview Play, and YouTube.

Huh? You say it's not HDR then you quote something that says it's HDR in the very first sentence.

It might be a recent update . I noticed the nascar race from last week originally it was only "UHD" now when I watch the recording it shows both in the picture "UHD" & "HDR"

Also sometime last year I would only see HDR when I watched a 4k program ondemand, so sounds more like an update

Loving all this 4k !!

Of course it’s HDR. There are several subsets of HDR that include:

HLG
HDR10
HDR10+
DV

All are considered various forms of HDR.

Current displays- LG 65C9, LG 77G7, LG 65B6

Seems like we have established that HLG is definitely HDR. HLG was in use by DTV from the outset of its 4K service, but in order to view HLG content, the TV has to support it. I recall when my TV received a FW update adding HLG support sometime last year.

Nice to see D* showing all the laps in 4k.
Unlike their golf coverage that only shows a few holes.

Yeah i enjoyed it, my first nascar event in 4k, i didnt watch last weeks cause it was on monday. No reason they cant do that more since it doesnt take nearly the amount of cameras to film a race as it does on a 18 hole golf event.

it's very depend on channel and event... I recall I did dig into it a few years ago... did check real satellite bandwidth of same channel from DTV on Ka and dish Ku... if you can find it at dbstalk
some people usually measuring size of recording and count using its duration

If they aren't speaking English what language are they responding to you with? Or is it you are frustrated and cannot understand their dialect or pronunciations?
