Thanks. You're right. I think the key is ending the call when it's not heading in the right direction. I spent an hour and 45 minutes on the phone with them yesterday and came away with nothing.

I think this is the exactly the way it should go. I need the name and extension of your CSR

My situation is similar; I already had an HR44 and got a new C61K mini in December with no new contract. The tech and CSR said this would be all I would need to enjoy 4k content. Obviously, this has not turned out to be the case, and now they want to gouge me or pin me down for another two years. It's all a game and I don't like being gamed

Try chat. I've used it on several occasions with great success. I ended up with $60 in discounts for 12 months as well. I have the highest programming package, Extra Innings, and Sunday Ticket. Needless to say, my bill is pretty high each month.

I was trying to upgrade to the HR54 and they told me they needed a tech to come out and do it because the 4K requires extensive programming. Just curious, but does it actually require a tech or is it in reality just a swap?

If you consolidate your bill with AT&T, it turns into a nightmare when you call. You end up routed to AT&T who can't help you with any programming changes, but they will try to upsell you on cell plans. Then when they transfer you back to the DirecTV side, you end up in the same menus that put you back at AT&T.

Well, after three calls lasting a total of four hours and an hour-long chat session, I've FINALLY got an HR54 being overnighted to me with no fee or contract extension. I feel like I just won the real lottery

I didn't get to ask about a reverse LNB since we got cut-off right after getting the Genie order completed. A little bit of panic set in until I confirmed the new order on my account page. There's NO FREAKING WAY I'm calling back to try and get the LNB, right now. I couldn't take it

Yeah, I got the C61K last December and was able to do some CE testing before they pulled the 4K programming plug on my HR44 a few weeks ago. I still haven't figured out why some people still get 9800 on theirs and I couldn't. Glad it won't matter after this weekend

Does anyone know if 9800 can be viewed with the HR54 if already registered for CE testing?

I'm over there frequently and did ask, but no one can explain it over there, either; it appears to be luck of the draw. I thought I'd ask over here in the off-chance someone would know

From what I can tell from other CE testers, some still have 9800 and some don't. It's weird. I haven't seen anything lately on 9801. I'll check on that. Thanks for the heads up

I really hope you'll get an HR44 or HR54 instead of the old HR24. I recently had an HR44 sent to me to replace a failing HR34, and the difference in video quality is very noticeable IMHO.
