Pretty accurate. I may tune in for the 2nd season, but I won't go out of my way.

Great quality on my local 1080i PBS and I don't believe the son was roasted, I though he died of a Morphine overdose.....did I miss something?
I agree, not my favorite series but better than most American dramas IMO, I'd probably watch more although I thought it sounded like the English detective was going to retire...

No you're right I think. TT had planned to burn the son, but couldn't/didn't go through with it. Elise found his body intact after he had died from the Morphine overdose.

Series 2 has already broadcast on Sky in the UK. Both leads from series 1 are in it.

I deliberately added "(but I didn't see it)" but should have made it clear he wasn't. Just wouldn't have anticipated it as a series ending. Recall mention of large morphine dose but it's news here the son died. -- John

Would appreciate any news on series 2!

PBS replied last week that they had fixed the audio in episode 7 which I reported to them. I haven't been able to check it out (it was even clipped in the web site version) since they want a "membership" to see episodes that far back.

There's an outline of each series 2 episode in the Wikipedia link I posted here recently. Only read a few opening-episode summaries but haven't heard if/when PBS is running Series 2 here.

In Series one, thought i recalled someone said the son was alive but hospitalized. -- John

I like parts of this show but other parts find myself yelling at the screen to get a clue.....
I also dislike shows where the criminal mastermind is always just one step away from the cops. Oh and another scene that had me laughing at the screen, why didn't someone think of holding down her shoe as she slid her foot out. Then put something heavy on her shoe to hold down the switch.......that or slowly move her shoe to the side while sliding something heavy(for example the couch that was only feet from the action) over the trip switch.....I mean the switch couldn't have been weight sensitive, otherwise it would have gone off as she was moving around, it was probably a simple mechanical on/off switch, it just "clicked" when she stepped on it.
I could pick this show to pieces but do enjoy parts of it

It's an original story - and not a remake of the Swedish/Danish series 2. It's different - and quite chilling - but I think it's become a bit more formulaic. The original still had a sense of surprise.

I think the son died and was "cremated". Towards the end of the ep, there was a shot of the chimney with a lot of black smoke pouring out, I think that was the visual clue that the body was being burned at that moment. Perhaps I missed something, but that was how I perceived it.

In the Bay Area it airs on KQED Plus, one of the KQED subchannels.

LOL, it has already started down here. I didn't know about it, because they air it at 12 AM on Mondays. Why even bother if you are going to bury it like that?

Yes, Season 2 has already aired 3 episodes nationally. Local stations are all over the map for air dates, and some are not showing it at all. Episode 4 should have an official air date of 7/6. The PBS app on Amazon FTV has the episodes.

It is one thing to be all over the map on air dates and times, but midnight? I mean it is like they don't even care if anyone in South Fl sees it.

Oh and I noticed they re-air it at 4 AM on Saturdays. If it wasn't for this thread, then I would have never known it was on.

If anyone is wondering, S-2 of The Tunnel is a completely different story than S-2 of The Bridge.
Like S-1 it doesn't hold a candle to Bridge, but its watchable.

Edited to add:
S-4 of The Bridge is in production now and should release around the end of this year. This is the final season.

I watched episode 3 of season 2 last week on the PBS Roku TV app and KQED is the local selected channel.

Yes. Really looking forward to S4 of Bron/Broen. (Or should that be Bron IV Broen?)

There's a third series of The Tunnel in production too I believe. (As I grew up in that part of the UK - the police HQ in Series 1 was a former insurance company in my home town where lots of pupils from my school did work experience - it's particularly resonant. My old school cross country running track is now the main Channel Tunnel terminus...)

I liked the first episode.
The sign up is to determine which PBS station is in your area. I have a Roku app that has me signed up for the San Francisco station while the Nvidia app is for the Sacramento station. No cost involved BTW.

The third season is listed for 2018 on IMDB. We're about a year behind the UK. Some UK series on PBS run almost simultaneously with the UK.

Sorry, this is what I see when I go to the website requiring PBS Passport.
Quote:

PBS Passport is an added benefit available to eligible donors of participating PBS stations (i.e.: you must make a donation to your station to receive this benefit). Typically, the PBS Passport member benefit requires a station donation of around $5/month or $60/year. Keep in mind that this donation requirement may vary from station to station.
It almost makes me think my local station is deliberately airing the episodes at the late hours to see if people will donate to watch them online.

Series 2 is available on Amazon, and it looks like using the "PBS Masterpiece 7 day free trial" would catch you up. That's what I'm going to try.

I caught up and then put it on season pass, so I wouldn't forget about it.

I finished the season last week and enjoyed it. My biggest gripe was the ending. In this day, all they had to do was text his partner before they walked in the building. "If you don't hear from me in a half hour, then this is where we are located" Ten seconds and done.

I'm only half way through season 2 but I will want to watch season 3 since it's the end.

I see no sign of the Blu Rays on Amazon either but I see HD season available for $16.99 on iTunes, since it's only 6 episodes, fewer than the first two seasons.

It's also available on Amazon, Google Play and Vudu while Amazon Prime only has the first two seasons. I would guess they won't put it on Prime until they've given it chance to sell the downloads.

Has anyone ever bought a season on iTunes. Can you expect AC3 sound at least? The 1080p downloads appear to be about 2 GB each so you would think it would have AC3 soundtrack.

The only concern is whether they edit it like the PBS versions. The iTunes page says watch it on PBS, which makes me wonder about whether it's edited, even though it's rated TV-MA.

Are the other services more likely to sell unedited versions than iTunes?
