Ah, found it. In the new Amazon app you have to scroll waaaaay down to get to a 4k originals section.

Why can't you search for 'Goliath UHD'? Why, if you find regular 'Goliath', don't they make it easy to launch the UHD version instead? makes no sense. I even went to amazon.com in my browser and searched there, no luck. Thanks for making it so hard, Amazon!

Let me chime in with my disappointment too. The atmosphere was right, but the plot sucked. The entire premise of the show made no sense. Why would cartel kingpins be so worried that the murder of anonymous punks would be pinned on them with zero explanation of any motivations or connections and the plot spiraling (down) from there. The gratuitous violence was almost irrelevant in comparison with the basic failure. I would put this in spoilers, but I don’t think you could spoil this stinker. Loved the first season though.

Hate all the smoking & drinking, but maybe that’s the point.

Anyone else notice the terribly washed out blacks in Season 2? Season 1 looked great. This is 4K HDR.

I bailed after the third or fourth episode, whichever, with the amputation crap and the sick f**k in his bathrobe. I might have stuck had the show been otherwise compelling, but the storytelling had already become so disjointed that it almost felt like half the show had been edited out, and the wrong half at that.

My feeling, especially looking at the better shows stacked up on my DVR or sitting unwatched in my Netflix list, was "I'm too old for this s**t."

The first season also suffered a bit from poor flow and too many "wait, what?" moments, but was redeemed by some compelling drama and fine performances. Nothing was going to redeem what I was seeing here.

Sadly, it seems that you can't have a pay TV show these days without some form of gratuitous shocking behavior - maybe they think it might nudge them over the finish line for an Emmy nomination?

Just caught the first season, really, really enjoyed it. Perfect casting. Hurt's character would normally be over the top, but it works here for whatever reason. Nina Arianda was just perfect, and a great counterpoint for Billy. Molly Parker, the ultimate bitch, so good. Maria Bello will probably be hot when she's 90. Harold Perrineau as the Judge, couldn't ask for better.

Felt bad for Tania/Brittany, I hope she makes it to season two.

And Billy Bob, nobody says "***hole" better. The way it rolls off his tongue is visceral.

Oof, skimmed the thread ready to avert my eyes, but couldn't help noticing an almost universal dislike of S2, confirmed heavily by the review titles on IMBD. Think I should just skip it and preserve my good memories of S1?

There's worse things out there, but its nowhere close to the quality of S-1.

I say watch it, with lowered expectations. I do not regret watching season 2, and it had some very good moments. The ending of it is still with me, in a creepy way. I will say no more.

Your decision might depend on the probable renewal of the series for a third go. Personally, I enjoyed S2 (if not to the same extent as S1), but I am hoping that another season would be closet to the quality of the first.

Thanks for the input guys, we'll probably give it a go. I just don't want to tarnish my memories of the first season. I know it shouldn't matter, but it's happened before. Not really voluntary.

Some of these shows must suffer from the First Album syndrome. Six or ten years of ideas result in something incredible. Then they get the green light for a second and maybe they're caught a little empty handed, and now there's a deadline.

Fargo’s subsequent seasons sucked big time after an excellent #1 too. Ironically, the biggest reason #1 was so good was because of Billy Bob Thornton also, IMHO. One of the most sinister and compelling villains in ages.

Thornton as Malvo helped set the bar very high on season 1, but I think if you watch 2 and 3 again with an eye for detail you will increase your appreciation. I find FARGO to be one of the few series that gets better with each viewing. It certainly doesn't "suck big time."

I just finished revisiting season 3 this weekend and find myself wondering why I thought it wasn't that great the first time around. If FARGO had started with season 3 I would have thought it the best thing on TV.

BTW, Billy Bob happens to be in one episode of season 3.

Renewed for season 3. Hard to imagine that season 3 could be worse than season 2.

Two episodes in on S3 and it is strange, especially E1. Good cast, but that first episode felt like Sci-Fi. Where are the aliens?

Why? I pretty much knew right away after the first episode what this case would be about.
It will continue with strange telling, but will clear up with episode 4 and 5. But oh man, this time it will be three goliaths he has to fight.

I haven't watched Goliath since finishing season 1.

Does the current new season refer to situations in previous seasons? Or can it be considered a standalone season?

It's a standalone. Although there are, at this point, a couple of characters (not the recurring characters) from previous seasons.

After 4 episodes it's doing nothing for me. Very disappointed.

Just like with season 2, Amazon has suspended viewer reviews. I struggled to get through one episode, and I'm out. Might try it again later but there are way too many things I would rather be watching than this nonsense.

Nothing about this worked for me. I thought it was a boring mess. I committed to it, but I couldn't wait for it to end.

A 19th century plot set in the 21st century.

Too many excruciatingly boring psychedelic trips.

It took until the 6th episode to get going, but even then the court proceedings, connecting the dots, and wrap-up fell flat.

The best part of this season was Patty (Nina Arianda). Her character cracks me up.

These are the same writers that brought us S2.

If you watched S1 (by far the best) and S2, then I'd recommend giving this a try. Maybe you'll get more satisfaction out of it than I did.

Sorry to hear the season didn't click with you. My wife and I binged all of the episodes in one sick day, and we found it quite entertaining. I preferred it to Season 2.

Yes, the premise was extremely familiar and there weren't all that many real surprises, but the performances and pacing had us involved to the end. So what if CHINATOWN did it first in 1974? The water problem hasn't gone away -- if anything it's more of a threat now than ever before.

The shows that give me difficulty these days are not those with settings I have seen in other series or films but the ones that use lazy writing and cliched "give-me-a-break" situations to arrive at impossible endings. (See the final season of POLDARK, for example.)
