Why does Ferrari have to "admit" anything? Merc is on record twice this year with team orders but nobody says anything about it. Ferrari SHOULD favor Seb. They need to put their foot on Merc's throat and keep it there all year. If the end of the year comes and Seb loses by 8 points..... yeah, no bueno. They are fighting THE most dominate team in history. They should have ordered Kimi out of the way in China.

Kimi couldn't shake Seb, then Seb put like 15 seconds on Kimi. I don't know or care if team orders were utilized yesterday, but I do know that the fastest guy won the race.

.
I don't believe Merc orchestrated a victory for one driver over the other as Ferrari did yesterday. Also, Bottas is new to the team, so I have no problem if he is the clear #2. Kimi has been with the team for four years. Even then, I don't care if they have team orders. Just come out and say "Vettel is our #1 driver and we will make sure to do everything we can to win the championship." That would be the end of it. People would either love it or hate it, but there would be no second guessing along with the endless denials.

Remind me, were you one of the countless here that told me the driver's championship doesn't matter? All I have been spoon fed is it is about the constructor's championship. If that is the case, then why did it matter which driver won?

Guys relax. In all ferrari history there is a No1 driver that gets the help but I'm not really sure yesterday was the case even though i blame Ferrari for not telling kimi to hit the pedal for 2-3 laps more and then pit.
I believe his tyres was ok for 1.15's and he would had been in frond of Vettel no matter how fast the German will be on rejoin.
Its not really clear to me what happened yesterday because i always have in mind kimi thinking. He doesn't want chit-chats when he is racing and in his mind he is doing the best he can always so his mechanics double think before they say anything. I am just thinking out loud here but yes maybe ferrari bosses did it on purpose...dont know but it is normal.

Theres nothing new about any of this with any team. Just Ferrari haters mad that Mercissydes is getting their ass kicked so they whine.

Kimi is obviously #2 and everyone knows it. He should just be glad hes getting paid millions to drive in F1 instead of driving a NASCAR truck.

Yeah I don't know why this is such a big deal... heck even Wolff says there was no way for Ferrari to know how well it would play for Vettel, regardless of their "strategy". He pushed the car and won the race during his last few laps with the ultrasofts - he deserves all the credit!

Ferrari wants to win the constructors championship AND the drivers championship, so they helped Seb. I see nothing wrong with this. Kimi may not like it, but oh well.

For me, i feel terrible for Fernando in the Indy 500, having the engine go on him. I was watching Indy and felt he was just about to try to start charging towards the front and when that engine let go, i just slumped back on the couch. What a curse Honda engines have been for him.

Wait, what? How did you get a hold of the 4k feed? Don't tell me its exclusive to Sony TV's.

I believe he's referring to the Sony's upscaling ability. Of course it's not the same signal clarity as if we had been given a 4K feed originally. ABC IIRC is a 720P output.

It was NBC's retransmission of F1's 4K feed, downconverted to 1080, and then upconverted back to 4K by my Sony 940D.

Ah, I see. Was about to get really mad if they'd made an exclusive deal with Sony for their TV's. I watched Indy on the ESPN app and I wouldn't say it was much worse than NBC's picture. My ABC affiliate cross converts to 1080i so anything on that channel is a mess.

James Allen thinks Vettel was just plain faster, I tend to agree.

https://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2017/...-monaco-f1-gp/

Ferrari pitted their lead driver first... nothing unusual. Vettel then started to lap 1.5 seconds faster than Kimi was. The only thing Ferrari could've done was to hold Vettel up in the pits. Or they could've just left them out there longer, but in Monaco if you haven't done your obligatory tire change and other teams have, you are screwed by a safety car.

Ferrari has always been open about favoring the drivers championship over the mfgs championship. That ain't new, baby!

One of my clients who goes on vacation once a year always gets me a souvenir. He couldn't find a t-shirt this time, but I got a hat instead, HECK YES, I like it even more than a t-shirt. He wasn't actually at the race, but I have a Monaco GP hate baby.

Team orders are fine but let's not pretend that the result wasn't manipulated by Ferrari, which is their right.
I just prefer what happened at Austria some years back when Barrichello pulled over on the very last corner after leading for the whole race and let Michael thru for the win and a hefty dose of abuse and booing on the podium.
That's they way to do, shove it right back in their faces.

Regardless of which strategy was used by Ferrari, I am happy to see the challenge to Mercedes and Hamilton's domination. I hope to see more on track action between Hamilton, Vettel and maybe Verstappen or Ricciardo when I get to Canada next week.

@Bond 007 is right. As the estimable James Allen said, in the piece @BGLeduc linked to above: “But our conclusion – having spoken to insiders, the drivers concerned and strategists involved in the race with deep knowledge of the tyres and what they were doing – is that Ferrari got the outcome it wanted, but on this occasion favouring Vettel wasn’t what they set out to do when they triggered Raikkonen’s stop on Lap 34.”

I missed two GPs and Indy. Family took a transatlantic Disney cruise...15 days on the boat with 5 ports of call. Great vacation, and great to unplug for a while. I had a limited WiFi data package just for emergencies, so no web surfing.

I did get to see some films, including the new Guardians and Pirates in an absolutely state of the art theater on the ship. Best sound I have ever heard in a theater.

Anyway, good to see Lewis is being as douchey about Fred at Indy as he was when Hulk won Le Mans. :-)
