I think I'm out now. That scene at the power station represented the worst of what I hate to see in these kinds of shows: people with abilities not using their abilities as they've proven many times they could and getting into difficulty (getting caught, killed, or causing a friend's death, etc.) as a result.

"Oh my gosh, there are so many hallways, I can't possibly create a portal back to a known location, like our van or the mutant HQ, like I have so many times before!"

Also, I don't care how much Sentinel Services have upgraded those spiders, there's no way the siblings can't take it out or effectively stall/put obstacles in its path. Breaking a steam pipe (really?) when we know Max is able to bring a wall or ceiling down on it if not crumple it up into a ball. If they can't stop a spider then all mutants should give up now.

Speaking of giving up, how about Dreamer just completely giving up for no apparent reason after opening the door (we didn't see her do anything to stall the SS troops)?

Too much lameness for an already lame-ish show.

It may be a foregone conclusion given the abysmal ratings for the show, I read that this week hit a new low.

Was there even a season finale yet? I don't recall anything leading into what could be considered a cliffhanger.

Not yet, there are two more episodes (the final on 1/15 is a two hour finale it looks like, two episodes back to back).

Great news about the renewal but I was scrolling ahead in my guide and it said that episode 12 is the season finale which better be a mistake since this is a network show not a cable show so it better have at least 22 episodes. This is the only new show this year I’m sticking with. Just as Lethal Weapon was the only new show last year I stuck with.

Why would it need to have 22 episodes? There are other shows on Broadcast networks that only have 12 or so episodes. The Orville is one show that comes to mind. And it's on the same network as The Gifted.

Having 22 episodes just dilutes the quality of the show and that's something that this particular show can ill-afford as its storylines have dragged as it is.

It all depends. If this was a summer show than I’d say 12 is great and would work well, but for a regular season Network show it should have more episodes and less breaks. None of this fall Finale garbage and pick up two/three months later for a limited number of episodes that most shows are keen on these days. Shows like Gotham do quite well on 22 episodes/per season and The Gifted could tell any number of Mutant stories to keep viewers entertained. We are always getting less and less and less.

I was really thinking that Trask had captured mirage boy and used him to fake what's her name's death, but I guess not.

I hate-watched the whole season. I actually enjoyed the season finale. Although the acting and dialogs were painful, I found the promise of a mutant civil war more compelling than the whole Trask/Sentinel vs Mutant Underground arc of season 1.

The 2 hour season finale wasn't too bad. Glad to see Trask gone. That was getting long in the tooth. I agree, a mutant civil war is much more interesting.

Not so sure about Trask being gone since all we saw was a plane going down below the tree line and then shortly thereafter a large explosion. Wasn't the old adage in TV shows that if you haven't seen the body, you can't assume they're dead?

The finale was the culmination of the snail crawling season. The show basically went through the scenario in agonizing detail of where every X-Men movie started from.

It also has these one dimensional characters who are fanatics and almost no one to believably hold them in check. Even if those characters actually believed the dribble they were selling (mutants are dangerous and have to be killed/put away) and saying things like remember 7-15 when apparently there had been no "mutant attacks" after that incident which clearly had several sides to, they would have to be wary of the powers some unknown mutant would have and understand that everything they were doing would be provoking escalation. That would be a no-brainer.

What the hell? During the "previously on" they showed scenes I never saw. I have been checking every week for a new episode and even recorded reruns twice. I can't believe I actually missed the episode before this!

Maybe the station usurped an episode.

I was always expecting Reed to get his powers back either by being in a very dire circumstance or by holding hands with one of his children. Also, Amy Acker is the best actor in the whole series but is wholly under used.

Ugh, I see the problem. It was shown on Jan. 1st, but I never checked my guide because I figured no one was going to show original programming that night.

What kind of DVR do you have? It should have caught that there was an episode and recorded it. Or as Mark said, maybe your local station pre-empted it for some local holiday presentation.

My DVR has had all sorts of trouble with this show. It doesn't regularly catch it and when it does record something, it is usually a repeat. (DirectTV). I was able to watch all the shows (pity me) because I had to manually set them every week. Probably bad labeling by the network.

That could be, different providers have different levels of guide data depending on how much they want to spend for it. I had DirecTV until about 6 months ago and I know it can have issues with some of its guide data.

I keep wait for his “awakening” as well and figure a three-way hand-holding extravaganza is coming. I disagree with the opinion on Acker though, as I find her swarmy countenance very off-putting. Maybe that’s a holdover from character in Person Of Interest, Root, who I hated.

I just watched the last few episodes after deciding to drop it when I didn't have much else recorded to watch this week.

The final three episodes held my attention, partly thanks to the eye-candy factor, but I'm not real excited about this turning into the story-line from the original X-men movie series. I also didn't understand Sage's motivations for joining the Brotherhood. She always seemed like a team-player, in sync with the underground's goals and philosophy. Her switching sides seemed to come out of nowhere.

Regarding the one-dimensional anti-mutant fanatics, since when do extremist bigots show much sign of brain activity? Though it's definitely become a cliché in this universe, and the only character we've been shown any real motivations for is Jace, I find it entirely believable that forces within the US government would needlessly throw rocks at a hornets nest and unleash decades of terrorist threats and attacks against the world under the guise of "protecting national security," even going so far as to manufacture evidence of a threat or attack. In the case of this show, last we heard, the destruction of the gymnasium in the pilot is being treated as a mutant terrorist attack. Everyday citizens would have much more to fear from neighbors with enough ability to blow up their entire block with a blink of an eye or wave of the hand than we do of an ISIS fighter sitting in an Afghan village with an IED thousands of miles away.
