By the will of Avis, that episode was a lemon.

The best part of that episode were the ship designs.

And here I was thinking it was the best episode to date; I liked that it was Trekian.

I wasn't a fan of the "humor" on display in Episodes 1&2 for Season 1, and I'm glad it is in remission.

Agreed, it was a bit more straightforward, less "cute".

"we're still here!" "no days off" "yada, yada yada..."

They looked and sounded like pig men to me, very funny. I found it interesting that this ep was much more serious than the previous ones.

... and yet, they throw in that the God they worship is named Avis? Talk about talking the air out of a "serious" moment ... This show still has issues with when to throw in a joke and when not to.

Like I said above, this show could use a good dramaturge. There are some good ideas floating around now and then, the vfx are consistently good, but the writing is often unacceptably weak and just brings the whole product down below where it should be.

I still have faith. TNG's first season was pretty shaky too. That first season was also 26 episodes. This last one wasn't great, but it was a step in the right direction.

A show that does things right, combining a bit of the future, great characters, smart dialogue, a bit of violence and laugh out loud humor, is Future Man. Season 2 is up and running.

As I said before, this series is becoming more Star Trek and less comedy. If it continues, there will be good and poor episodes just like Star Trek. Every episode can not be as good as Khan or as silly as the Tribbles.

I thought that this week's episode was OK but one thing really irked me. Teleya's head prosthetic was weird. The makeup folks should have done more more with the eye openings. Her actual human eyes were too prominent and the thing looked like a Halloween face mask with eye holes. At the very least the eye openings should have been blended in better to look more natural instead of cutouts with obvious edges. C'mon guys, you can do better than that.

I have to add my absolute surprise of enjoying this show immensely even though I can't really stand Seth McFarlane or his other works. I went into this show actually ready to dislike it because of him and now I'm getting greedy for the next episode week after week!

Now I'm not in the camp of "this is so much better than Discovery" because I like Star Trek: Discovery as well. In this day and age of pitting things and people against each other, I'd like to voice my opinion of "Can't we just like both?"

Don't know if this channel's been posted earlier
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeC...3eq91U0rlJsW-A

Covers all of scifi/pop culture media

Guy has un-PC/NSFW pseudonym, but given his shtick and angle....ehhh

DC Defends Orville

Once you get past the sophomoric pseudonym and voice/visual shtick, his commentary, insights and analysis are outstanding and demonstrate deep understanding of writing, the scifi genre, and what made Trek "good" in the first place.

Channel has that 70's UHF/80's Community access cable channel feel

The Ghoul anyone?

Not really a joke now, nor was it used as such in this ep. They played it out last season when the Krill showed up.

Played out of not, when you hear the name Avis, it's impossible to take the moment seriously, thus taking you out of the story.

This episode was better than the last, that doesn't say much but there it is. The last season was uneven too so not much change in that regard.
