Just watched the trailer. I'm in. Love Kinnamann & Purefoy. Some of the critics' criticism is reminiscent of really expensive misfires. Sounds like there's not a lot of character development in characters who should be more interesting then they're written.
It's an interesting time to be in the entertainment business. There has been this explosion of media providers which are engaging in this kind of arms race with original programming. Netflix is literally throwing billions at it, and others like Amazon and Hulu are struggling to keep up. And then there are the premium cable networks, and all the cablenets that are all chasing fewer and fewer eyeballs.
There has never been a better time to be an actor or otherwise involved in the film industry. There's a gold rush in the business, and if you're appropriately young, exceptionally attractive and moderately talented you should be able to find a gig on one of these hundreds of productions. Lots of waiter and server jobs that used to be the province of struggling actors have probably opened up.
But really good screenwriters, producers and directors are harder to find, and the talent pool must be getting stretched pretty thin. That may have been the case here.
