No, I noticed the elevated black levels and flattened contrast before he did his test.

Yes, all of the modern Star Wars movies have a similar, dim and flat look. It's very disappointing.

Mando continues to be a stupid moron. Why does he keep trusting random strangers with his life and with baby Yoda's life? Its like he doesn't care at all that the entire galaxy has a bounty on both of them.

And trackers continue to make zero sense. Why would Toro destroy the tracker? Its dynamic real time tracking - what the hell kind of nonsense is 'I memorized it'. Is he trying to prevent Mando from going after Fennce? In which case why did he ask for help? And it doesn't even matter since they are going together! Destroying the tracker is such a stupid thing to do since its a vast desert.

Yet another filler ep, which I don't mind since its just a chance to see more of the SW universe. But this series really needs 20+ episodes/season if they are going at this pace and exploring every side quest. Only 3 are left and its guaranteed to end on a cliffhanger putting Baby Yoda's fate in real danger and with a surprise twist reveal.

The show is sliding endlessly, at this point it's nothing but a "nostalgia trip". Well if one can call it at that. Also since they are just simple and short snippets of a larger arc, this should have been all at once not this weekly schedule. These episodes simply don't hold up as it is.

Bobo Fett fell into the Sarlacc pit and is slowly getting digested over 1000 years. Am I to understand he escaped?

I disagree, from what I see on-line everything about him is that he died in the Pit. All mentions of him being alive are from non-cannon works like novels and such. That means in the Star Wars universe they never say he is alive or survived the pit. He is dead. Now, in this show they could have gotten permission to bring him back somehow, which they would have to explain because in the Mandalorian Universe, so far, there are no official mentions of him being alive.

The Mandalorian episode 5 theory: Those boots at the end belong to…

The latest episode of The Mandalorian ended with the introduction of a mysterious character.

(Spoilers follow for episode 5, “The Gunslinger.”)

The final shot of Friday’s installment of the Disney+ series showed a figure wearing black boots approach the discarded body of the assassin Fennec (Ming-Na Wen), who may or may not be dead.
But who is the figure? There’s a whole galaxy of possibilities. The most obvious possibility is that it’s former Imperial Governor Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) — a new Mandalorian character the show has yet to reveal this season. But here’s another theory that’s perhaps far-fetched, but also highly intriguing, and there’s a bit of evidence to support it: Boba Fett.

First, this episode takes place on Tattooine. Some have dismissed the episode’s location as mere fan service. But it’s also the last place Star Wars fans saw the infamous bounty hunter, after he fell into the Sarlacc Pit in Return of the Jedi, presumably to digest for 1,000 years. But what if he escaped? Boba Fett, with his array of weapons, somehow escaping the Sarlacc Pit sure makes more sense than some character returns (like Darth Maul surviving being bisected and dropped into endless shaft, only to turn up in Clone Wars).

The reveal would make sense, as Fennec was being tracked by bounty hunters and Boba Fett is, after all, a bounty hunter.

But there’s also a specific clue in the scene that could be a nod in the direction of Boba Fett: the rather distinctive jangling sound of the character’s boots, which almost sound like cowboy spurs. Listen to the episode’s ending again, then watch this video around 2:46 as Boba Fett enters the room:

This would be a huge reveal and rather perfect. Since the launch of The Mandalorian, fans have wondered why Disney didn’t just do a show about Boba Fett when the lead character was so clearly inspired by him. Having Pedro Pascal’s Mando allows the show to create its own character with a different personality, and Pascal’s take on a bounty hunter has been distinctive and engaging. But what if the plan was also to re-introduce Boba Fett as an antagonist for some Mando-vs.-Mando action? Pit our hero against the most formidable and popular bounty hunter in Star Wars?

The move would also redeem what’s been considered a “bad death” in the canon — many fans feel Boba Fett deserved a more fitting send-off than the abrupt and somewhat goofy way he was casually dispatched by Han Solo. The move also wouldn’t be entirely unlike how Clone Wars — which is from this episode’s writer and director, Dave Filoni — brought back Maul from his abrupt death to give him a more extensive final act.

For more, listen to this week’s Star Wars Untold Stories podcast; the new episode is coming soon.

I agree that all the stories about Boba Fett post-Return of the Jedi have been stricken from canon and cannot be taken as fact. However, in RotJ, it is stated that the Sarlaac keeps its prey alive in its stomach to digest over 1,000 years. Boba Fett fell into the Sarlaac fully armed with all of his weapons, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for this show to say that he killed the Sarlaac from the inside and shot his way out.

We've established by now that this show is nothing but side quests. Baby Yoda is there just to string us along.

Favreau said we are getting answers in the finale which I'm sure will be followed by a cliffhanger and another season of side quests.

Agreed, totally possible. However, if it is Fett, isn't that sort of taking away from the main character of this story? Fett is insanely popular among Star Wars fans. Wouldn't that distract from building the fan base/story of our main character now?

On the other hand, it could be a short reveal just so they have reason to launch a Fett stand alone show.

Guess we will find out soon enough. I hope it is Fett, he was so cool.
