I wonder what kind of temps those tires get up to. The track they want to go to is 11 miles long and a mile wide. At 1K mph that almost seems too small.

That's crazy. It's 19 degrees. Which puts Talladega's 33 degrees of banking into better perspective. Also crazy.

My only issue with that is that they are NOT ski-ing on top of the car!

They are standing on skis, on top of the car!

Sit me on a horse, on a trailer behind a car and then drive it really fast. There you go, so now I'm the world's fastest horse rider? No, I wouldn't be!

I bet the locals on that steep hill don't ever park on the road, and laugh at visitors who do knowing what will happen :-)

Not sure what the cameos were. I briefly saw the rear wing of a Lotus F1 car and an old Esprit.

http://www.espn.com/f1/story/_/id/25...ttle-thin-year

I was shocked to read that Ric had talks with Merc. I guess there was a slim chance that he could have gotten the drive. The article mentions Germany, which is where Vettel lost the championship lead both in drivers and constructors. Maybe if Vettel had won the race, Merc would have felt the need to make switch. It would have been exciting.

Happy new year to all. I hope the new year brings us better racing with the changes to the front wing, the rear wing, and the other small changes they have made.

"Bottas must match Hamilton to stay at Mercedes"

But no pressure Val, HAM isn't the best ever. Just, oh, top five-ish or so. Should be easy for you. Just get eight or so wins next year against HAM and VET/LEC and maybe a highly motivated VER, and we'll give you your next contract. Maybe. EZ

There are some that are saying that Bottas could be replaced mid-season with Ocon, if he doesn't produce.

His body language hasn't looked good for a while now. I'm not convinced Ocon is an improvement, but that's just more pressure for Bottas. We will see how he handles it.

It is kind of like Senna/Andretti/Hakkinnen. Fortunately for Mika, Senna left the next year.

Ocon still had the better of Perez in qualifying, but his racecraft needs work.

And the minute he starts taking points from Ham, Louise will toss all his toys out of the pram again, start releasing confidential team telemetry, winding up the Hamfosi.....Toto is blowing smoke. He slipped up last year when he spoke the truth.....whoever sits in the 2nd Merc is the wingman. Full stop.

For those interested, the Dakar Rally starts today, the most grueling motor sports event in the world. 70% sand dunes this year.
