Good for Ferrari, great for Charles, nice unselfish assist from Vettel.

Gutted for Norris, sheesh. Albon figured it out, great pass on a great passer. Great head on his shoulders denying Perez the DRS. He's such a good interview, cracks me up.

Natalie Pinkham has got one of the sexiest voices ever.

Ferrari finally got a win. Now, will Seb win a race this year?

Norris went to anti-stall mode. I think the same thing happened to Sainz. I wonder what McLaren is thinking about the Honda engine now?

Albon did a great job running back through the field and passing Perez at the end.

I am not sure why Renault didn't pit Ric. He could have put on softs for the final 15 laps and possibly returned to the top ten.

Well this sucks. I was cruising along watching some supposed pros raced at Portland. Right after the second caution, my local station decided to pre-empt the race for local coverage of the storm. I could deal with a ten minute update, but they have decided to go all in. I guess I will have to wait for the rerun on NBCSN tomorrow. I am glad Nascar is on NBCSN tonight.

Before anyone says anything, Miami and Ft Lauderdale are supposed to get some wind gusts up to maybe 40 or 50 mph tomorrow along with some rain. In other words, an average day.

Software bug? It shouldn't be possible to trigger anti-stall in the middle of the finishing straight.

The pre-emption is really annoying. They even preempt network shows, but they don't restart them, so after the unnecessary (if I wanted to interrupt myself I'd go to the web for information on Dorian) and breathlessly self-important update they continue the show in the middle of the broadcast, so you've missed part of it.

Heavy rain is normal, but 50mph winds aren't. Last year's hurricane blew out some transformers and knocked out power where I live for about a day and a half (suffering Florida's summer heat that long without A/C is no joke), and that was also with about 50mph winds. It's still dangerous to walk about in winds like that, and small objects become dangerous projectiles.

More speed and zero chicanes are needed for F1 to grow. It's boring.

A glimpse at what could be. Just a little imagination is needed. No, the tracks aren't built yet, but if such tracks were built, it'd likely make everything else quickly obsolete.

I was listening to missedapex's diary of a team boss podcast again. Matthew Carter said that there was no way that McLaren would beat Renault. After seeing the issues with the engines this past weekend, I have to wonder if Renault is doing something.

I’m surprised how little commentary there has been here regarding Ocon replacing Hulkenberg.

Not much to say. I feel for him, but he's not new, and RIC has shown him up pretty much. Plus Ocon is French and the higher ups want that, I suppose. He's had a good run, prolly not hurting for money either.

That team shoots themselves in the foot more than Ferarri so maybe he's happy about it.

"Porsche to invest $6.7 billion to develop electric vehicles"

Porsche presented its new Taycan electric sports car, the first model in a new series, which has an 800 volt system and a range of about 280 miles, or 450 kilometers. It is the first electric vehicle from a German carmaker with a range capable of rivaling that of Tesla’s cars.

I watched the reveal this morning. Nice. Looks like a real car. For $150k and up, it better be. I really hate the interior of Teslas with what looks like an iPad for a dash. Clearly all electric cars are the future though.

At my last autocross there was a guy with a Tesla 3. I have no idea if it was set-up or not, though I hear that they have performance parts available, and that they are tearing it up in SCCA Solo 2. But the point is, while the car was clearly not happy going around corners, the straight line acceleration was ridiculous. Everyone working the course was shocked at how quickly it it scooted once it was pointed straight. If they can be tuned to go around corners, they would surely be a blast to drive.
