It may be like bedding an ugly girl...sure its fun with the lights out, you just don't want anyone to see you doing it. But I bet the guy is not going to be thinking about that when he picks up the National Championship Trophy and jacket.
Number 8 on that list was won by a 2006 Porsche Banana S.

Holy effin’ schiite.

Note, this is from F3. I first thought it was a McLaren. The driver is reported to be OK.

How did it launch like that? It didn't drive over another car or anything else obvious.

Hard to tell from the video, but reports say the car launched over the “sausage curb”. The curbing around the outside of Parabolica has now been removed.

Yes, it was the orange sausage kerb. Nico Rosberg has pointed out on Sky that the F3 cars go a low slower - "if that was an F1 car, it would be in the forest".

This image from Twitter shows the car before he went airborne. So he was on the outside of the curbing, and was launched when he tried to come back?

EDIT: I read that Peroni is actually an Aussie. What the hell is it with Aussies and flying cars? :-)

In that case, you'll just have to look more closely. It's not easy to see from a low angle.

Ah....I mistakenly thought the curbing ran the whole outer edge of the racing surface of Parabolica.

In that case, I will agree with some of the driver quotes I have read. To paraphrase, “What idiot thought THIS was a good idea?”

Well, the final quali today was the stupidest thing I may have ever seen in F1. I kept yelling at the tv for some teams to start going out, and then here they come. ALL of them, at the last second, and I knew it was gonna be a disaster. Fools!! Not to make it to the start line!!!! Unbelievable!!!!!

I was pissed as I missed out on the exciting final runs, imagine the fans who payed big bucks to be there to see the final run in person!!! Yes a Ferrari is on pole, but Seb didnt get a chance to improve his spot, and just so ridiculous.

And what the hell was with Bottas, first they said he did NOT make it in time so he didnt get a time, then all of a sudden later he got his time and it moved him ahead of Seb!! What was that all about? Wouldnt surprise me with all this stupidity to see Sebs time get taken away now for being a millimeter over the white lines with all 4 wheels. Nothing would surprise me about this stupid final quali run!! Or should i say almost-run!!!!

We're going to end up with a nasty outlap crash if they keep playing these stupid games. Hulk taking the slalom course was over the line. HAM and BOT hitting the brakes at the end of pit lane AGAIN. Somebody is going to rear end them one of these times.

Should be an interesting start tomorrow. VET was the only one without a tow assisted Q time so there should be some good drag racing.

Yup, should be interesting to see Vettel try to get by the Mercedes cars, and to see how Max does from the back. But still, today was so bad.

Ah, I see. Well it was to stop them cheating and going all four wheels off the track - to do it there means they can have a straighter line on the start/finish straight and if they are just about to START a timed lap, set a faster time.

Here's a clearer picture, from the earlier F3 qualifying:

It looked like Peroni’s car landed on the top edge of the wall, right at the driver’s seat. Without a halo I think he is almost certainly killed.

I thought qualy was kind of funny. This is what can happen when you have a format like that. Go to single car qualifying and you eliminate the problem. It isn't as drama filled as the current format, but is fairer.

Yelling at the tv is good. It is exactly the sort of thing that we F1 fans are known for.
Keep up the good work yankeeman, you definitely belong here on this thread with the rest of us.
Monza qualifying, modern day F1 at it's best!
People starting from the back of the grid for no sensible reason, objects put on the track that cause cars to go flying thru the air, drivers just going out to give their team mate a tow etc etc.
If yelling at the tv isn't cutting it any more then try punching a pillow at the same time, I hear this can be quite effective.
Just a tip from an old-timer.

F1, the self described “pinnacle” of global motorsport, where the rules-makers do not know the difference between a wheel and a tire.

I thought I had a good handle on auto racing flags, but clearly I don't.

So a "black and white" flag is a very, very special flag, used only at Monza, and only used when a Ferrari drives someone off the road?

Fun race. Charles right on the edge of a penalty a couple times, but it's better racing the way they called it. You can tell Lewis takes him pretty seriously because he wont look at him in the cool down room. I was hoping Charles was going to throw him his hat.
