I am excited to see how my Bucs do and whether Jamis is actually worth keeping or not. Mr. Arians is an experienced coach, something we really haven't had in awhile so I am hoping he can turn us around.

I really ought to act more like a woman of my advancing years, but I’m growing old disgracefully.

The video version ran on ESPN's Sportscenter and E:60 this morning. Good stuff. Always loved Bob Costas. He's been in a rare position of power, authority & credibility for so long now that he's completely unafraid to speak his razor-sharp mind - about anything. And damn the consequences. You want to fire me for speaking the truth? Knock yourself out. An enviable position.

Interesting, but not surprising. It could be summed up that Bob no longer wanted to cater to the corporate bosses, who are at the mercy of the NFL.

Costas’ highest & best use is making the rounds on late night cable TV shows such as the unwatchable Bill Maher show. He has reached his level of incompetence.

Too much pressure.

I have been putting off stating my ideas for the 2019 Dolphins. So here goes.

The owner, Stephen Ross, has already stated that the team is going to tank. So, here is what I would do as GM.

I would dump all of the veteran players that I could while benefiting the salary cap. Hopefully the team could pick up draft picks by trading away some of their valuable players. I would then turn around and fill every position with guys off of the practice squad at the league minimum salary, so that I could carry this year's cap space into next season.

I would then trade away my 1st and 2nd round picks this year for 1st and 2nd round picks next year. That, combined with picks from player trades would leave the team in good shape for drafting next year. And, with all of the added cap space, the team could pick up good veteran players to rebuild the offensive line, with the idea of drafting a quarterback next year.

That sounds like Chad. The problem with your thinking is that having a lot of draft picks doesn't necessarily mean you pick good players. Sometimes it is a poor draft or sometimes players don't work out. In '14, the Browns had two first round picks. Neither player is even in the league anymore (Manziel and Gilbert).

As Kirk would say to Spock, one man can make a difference. Getting a QB is the issue and they should draft one every year till they have one. They could dump some of the players like Jones, but it might be better to wait another year on a lot of them and lessen the dead cap hit.

The problem is that not many teams or coaches have the balls to have open QB competition. I have said it before and if the QB isn't top ten then he should be competing for his position like everyone else.

Competition is good. But when it comes to the NFL QB position, there aren't many debates about who is the deserving starter. This is a list of backups for each team at the start of last season. Not a lot of impressive backups, IMO.

That's an understatement. Think Kaep will get a tryout this spring? I mean, the Browns just signed a guy who was caught on film punching & kicking a woman. They say they're still "investigating", but they're confident he's been "rehabilitated". You'd think taking a knee to protest racial injustice kinda' wouldn't rise to that level. Besides, the brouhaha about all that has died down now. Hopefully somebody will finally sign the guy.

Speaking of, the Panthers just signed Eric Reed to a 3-year contract. Good football decision.

One of the few good things the Dolphins have done in the last couple of years is draft a running back in the later rounds. That's another position that should be chosen each draft. Both Drake and Ballage have turned out to be pretty decent backs, and they're cheap since they were picked in later rounds and are on their rookie contracts.

We just have to hope that the new GM and head coach will do a decent job with their picks. Remember, they were both NFL scouts in previous lives. That's how they met.

Chad, I think hope is all we have left. At least we go into next season with absolutely no expectations. Unless you are a Patriots fan, most fans' expectations will be burst at the end of the season.

so Miami is tanking, Buffalo stinks and the Jets are trying to build around Sam Darnold...book the Pats for another 12 wins...Jets do have a ton of cap space so it'll be interesting to see who they can get...I keep hearing rumors about Le'Veon Bell and a trade for Antonio Brown but that seems like taking on too many of the Steelers problem players

I heard that too about the cap space. I think Cleveland has a bunch of space as well. I had heard about the possibility of Bell going to the Jets but hadn't heard about Brown. It would have to be an agreeable trade because I think Brown carries $20 million against The Steelers cap even if he is not on the team.
