2019 Oscars on ABC

As usual, the Live on the Red Carpet show will have a lot of pre-recorded interviews, which they are doing as I type this.

Correct. The Oscars is hostless this year. I believe the first time in 30 years.

BTW, MPEG-2 - ~38 Mbps - 4:2:2

It would be even better if it were H.264 at the same bitrate.

The main show feed back to ABC NY is on fiber at 1.5 GB un-compressed.

Correct, all sat feeds from award shows are only backups in case some idiot cuts the fiber.

Fibers. There are multiple paths to NY in what is called diverse and redundant. 1+1.

Black Panther being nominated for best picture is an utter joke and clear pandering to SJWs. Its not even in the top 5 Marvel movies.

While that is indeed the case, the sat feeds are just-in-case. You have to cover all the bases/

I'm thankful that they are still doing sat feed backups, as I get to watch these shows the best way possible.

Added bonus this year... the censoring is being done in N.Y., so I captured Spike Lee's speech uncensored.

Not a technical comment but tonight the show is sailing maybe no host telling jokes is the answer to shave off time.

I watched 30 minutes of it tonight. The whole ceremony is a giant exercise in slobbering pandering and self aggrandizement. Even the Nike commercial built a gigantic straw man and then went to war with it. I need to take a shower after that.

I was rooting for "Shallow" to win and surprised that it did. I do not expect "A Star is Born" to win best picture.

My predictions were pretty spot on except for BP I thought Roma had it locked. For best actress people assumed it was going to Glenn Close but Olivia Colman and the Favorite is quite a delightful movie.

I watched Queen kick it off then turned the channel to Peppa Pig. Still think Overlord should have won best picture.

so Spike Lee stormed out after Green Book was announced as Best Picture...he had to be ushered back to his seat and even then turned his back to the stage while the Green Book folks gave their speech...I wish their was video of that...

That format worked for me. I was able to FF through some of the speeches that went on far too long and other things that didn't interest me.

Production values were very high.

Nice performance by Gaga and Cooper. While watching some of the scenes with Cooper, I thought I was listening to Sam Elliott.

Congrats to all the winners.

A few surprises, especially BP, but a lot of it was to be expected.

Loved the opening number(s) by Queen, nice way to kick it off. I agree with Bohemian winning all the rewards it did and the best actor award was spot on, he did an amazing job in that movie, very impressed.

Not me, bud. You're the one who got all worked up into a lather about the Oscars. Hey, I get it. I wanted 'Black Panther' to win BP. That shield over Wakanda was dope, man.

As to various cleansing techniques, I quite like a nice hot bath. Releases toxins, opens the pores. Kinda' like taking a steam, only wetter.

I don't agree with Spike Lee's reaction, but Blackkklansman was the better film. Come on Green Book was the same old **** of putting two charcaters from oppsoite walks of life together, then they each learn from one another, find mutual respect, and grow as people. Even if the movie was well done (it was), its trite and a cliche.

That, and Cooper/Gaga's song, Amy Poehler and co were pretty funny, Olivia Coleman's speech*, and Malek's speech. All highlights to me. Not a bad show.

*I've been watching her since she was in a little known (in the USA) weird britcom called Peep Show. Just nuts that "Sophie" won best picture.
