Black Mirror is an amazing series but why are they releasing Season 5 in bits and pieces...Bandersnatch was a standalone episode released in December...now June 5th another 3 episodes...is that the entire season or will there be another batch of episodes later in the year?

A new season of Black Mirror is coming to Netflix a lot sooner than fans may think. The fifth season of the hit psychological thriller series is coming to the streaming platform on June 5, but there's a catch. Fans will only be privy to three episodes compared to the previous season in which there were six episodes.

They can take their time. Great ideas aren't easy to come by, and it must get harder to come up with new interesting ones.

I'll take quality over quantity. Quantity is for TV junkies. The pace of development seems to reflect how things are done in the UK (series often have only 6 episodes and of great quality). US networks like more episodes because they can sell more ads but having been in the creative arts all my life I know how hard it is to create "ondemand". Also when they dish out 3 episodes at a time they'll get watched rather than just put on the viewer's list and forgotten about.

Britain's Channel 4 Seasons 1 & 2 were 3 episodes long...The last two Netflix seasons had 6 each.

Dazed and confused over high tech.

Sigh...Concrap. The Internet Overlord Cometh
They're not com-tastic!

why not both both quality and quantity? ...I was not expecting 20 episodes...but I was expecting something along the lines of the previous Black Mirror Netflix seasons of 6 episodes...having to wait 1.5 years for a new season and then have it only be 3 episodes is a bit disappointing...I trust showrunner/writer Charlie Brooker so hopefully the 3 episodes will be classics

Apparently the bandersnatch episode consumed a lot of their time and energy. Not worth it, IMO.

I haven't been ready for a new season ever since I was wrecked by San Junipero. I can only blame the onions for so long.

I think this is the first time I've ever been excited for ANYTHING with Miley Cyrus in it... Makes me think I'm in a Black Mirror episode myself.

LOL SJ was a great eppy.

I'm just pumped we will have new Black Mirror, Bandersnatch felt like a tease.

Saw the Miley Cyrus episode. Much of the plot was too Hollywood-conventional in execution for my taste. It seems the point could have been unfolded in a significantly more hard-hitting manner. The use of Nine Inch Nails was genius, though.

Really liked the Falcon episode. The kidnapping episode was ok but I didn't like how it ended. Haven't gotten to the third episode yet.

I watched all three last night. I enjoyed each one and the satire of tech presented. I don't recall if there's been a Black Mirror episode about the effects of binging. Maybe that's off the table.

"Striking Vipers" is definitely the highlight of the season. Instant classic.

"Smithereens" has a subtle specialness in that it takes place present day and demonstrates the technological momentum that will inevitably bring us to the type of tech shown in the more futuristic episodes of Black Mirror. We are getting there whether we like it or not.

Good season overall.

I actually liked the ending. It reduced what was a critical moment for the main character to just yet another news story for people to consume and care about for only a minute of time. I probably read and had already forgotten about tragedies that occurred just this week. Information abound.

Guy complains on forum about show. Showrunners are friends with forum operators. Forum operators help dox guy complaining and his work/personal life is ruined. Guy forever embraces his bitterness as a result.

There's a story for you, Brooker. You're welcome.
