So Lin-Manuel Miranda had to edit out two "f-words" in the upcoming Disney run of Hamilton. He gave an interview about that's very funny. Look it up read it.

One F-Bomb is okay. One bare bottomed Daryl Hannah or one V-Neck shirt on a female is not. Okay........

How difficult would it be to offer the content in both forms? Why not a default that always plays the edited version (Family Friendly), with an option to select an unedited version with PIN CODE to unlock? R-rated content will NEVER be on Disney+ and the edited content should not be so numerous that a PIN CODE option if you choose it becomes a constant nuisance. OH well..... <Blank> it!!

I know but Lin didn't mind. He said that most of the "kids" who will watch in on D+ already know all of the lyrics and to quote him "I gave two Fs so that the kids could watch it" It's a small price to pay for being able to watch this brilliant work of art whenever I want to. I've seen it live twice but I'll bet that there will be a ton of people who have seen it many more times than that who will watch it over and over on D+. I'm assuming that the "film" will be in 1080P resolution but maybe Disney will surprise us with HDR10 or Dolby Vison.

Yeah, if that's the only censoring of this production, it's no big deal at all. Kudos to Lin for not making a thing out of it. The show must go on!

Lin did say which two scenes had to be modified. One is no big deal at all and the other could have gone either way so it's all good. And besides, Linn and his creative team and co-producers had 75 million reasons not to object.

It’s listed on the ATV4K that it will be 4K HDR10 / Dolby Vision / Dolby Atmos. I think it’s the same footage that they showed a number from at the end of Hamilton: The Exhibition last year. It was impressive footage and I think many people will appreciate having it available on D+.

I agree with you guys. It won't affect my enjoyment of this title.

My comments were more tongue in cheek and about the overall approach Disney is taking to censoring content unnecessarily, not Hamilton in particular. I now wonder if any MCU film I have watched on Disney+ was the same as in theaters or if I bought the Blu-Ray?

The trailer on Disney+ is playing in Dolby Vision with 5.1 audio.

The movie details on the page show that it will be available in 4K HDR | Dolby Vision | ATMOS

No surprise, just ENJOY!!

I watched the trailer in DV and HDR10 last night. It looks great. It also bodes well if the performance is eventually released to home video UHD.

Well, they got me! Just signed up, for the 1-yr/$70 plan. Seems reasonable. Heck, I was willing to pay 4 or 5 times that to see "Hamilton" live, if I had actually won the lottery and was able to buy a couple of tickets. Which I didn't. And now I finally get to see Baby Yoda too!

The only thing that pisses me off is that I should already have it, for free. I bought a new LG television last December and a free year of Disney+ was supposed to be included. But because I bought it through an "unauthorized" dealer in the ebay marketplace, LG wouldn't honor the deal. Which is pretty crappy of them given that they got their money. My dealer paid the full wholesale price for that set, I'm sure.

I think it's in the license terms that only authorized dealers can participate in the promotion...not just with LG displays but most (if not all) products...I would never buy a big ticket item through Ebay (especially from an unauthorized reseller) but that's just me

Outside of The Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man: Far from Home, I think Disney+ now has all of Phases 1-3 of the MCU.

Into the Unknown: Making Frozen 2

HOW/WHEN & WHERE TO WATCH: Streaming on Disney+

Into the Unknown, Disney+'s six-part docuseries, isn't just a look at the making of Frozen 2. It's a rare glimpse behind the Mouse House curtain to show just how Disney Animation operates. The series begins about a year out from when the highly anticipated Frozen sequel is set to hit theaters in November 2019, and as co-director Chris Buck remarks, it's a time when all the balls are dropping. Cameras take us inside the immensely secretive "Story Trust," a.k.a. feedback meetings wherein directors and writers from all across Disney Animation, including Zootopia's Byron Howard and Moana's Ron Clements, get to screen early cuts of Frozen 2 and offer critique. We move to the recording booth to show how, even in the 11th hour, the team are making tweaks to some of the biggest musical numbers from the film. The lens also turns inwards on the creatives, offering some of the most poignant, touching moments that'll make you bawl as hard as Idina Menzel belting Elsa's titular song. It shows there's as much heart behind these films as there are on screen. —Nick Romano

I saved about $100 over buying it from an "authorized" dealer. And the company I bought it from had a 100% positive rating from thousands of customers. So I felt pretty confident I'd get a good product, and after-purchase service if I needed it. And I did.

But I just paid $70 for a year of Disney+, which I have not figured out how to transfer to my ATV 4K device (I bought it on my computer and they do NOT make it easy), so in retrospect, I didn't save much. C'est la vie.

it should be automatic...if you paid for the yearly subscription, you just log into your Disney+ account from whatever device you are using and you can start watching

The problem was it wouldn't let me log in from my ATV 4K. So I called Apple and got some nice American (!) lady who spoke perfect English and helped this brother out. Know what it took? Sure you do. A power plug cycle. Don't it always?

Tonight? Star Wars Ep 9...! I've heard it's... not great. Don't care. Finishes up the series I started when I was in school back in '75.

There are a couple of clips from scenes on YouTube. The jump cuts between camera locations are very well done. There was one that looked like a view from the mezzanine as well as another from the front of the stage floor. Nothing beats seeing the show along with 2000 other people in a theater (except when it comes to trying to get to a restroom during intermission) but in some ways you'll get more complete overall views of the show on the recording.

Another interesting perspective on watching it this way on Disney+ from Lin-Manual Miranda himself:

From CinemaBlend article:

This might be the best rehearsed movie of all time. Outside maybe certain David Fincher scenes, I don’t know another movie cast that got to do literally hundreds if not thousands of performances before the cameras went on. But our job was not to think of that. Our job was to do our show.

I guess he's never heard of Stanley Kubrick. 3,000 takes per shot was pretty much par for the course with Kubrick.

Last year, after getting through the lottery and the rest of the ticketing process, we landed good seats for a Nover, ber performance of "Hamilton" in Philadelphia.

A week before the show, my left knee arthritis flared up painfully and required treatment, and it was clear that three hours in a theater seat just wasn't going to happen. The tickets were easy to sell, of course, but we missed our chance.

So getting to see an optimized performance by the original cast, in 4k with balanced audio, no waits for the bathroom, no noisy audience being obnoxious behind us, well... it's a gift.

And it will be a long time before our D+ subscription costs as much as those tix did!

While I suppose anything 'new' to Disney+ is welcome, other than 'Hamilton', it's a pretty stale selection ..

Can't have 'net new' if you can't have productions up and running. I welcome that they are building out and filling out their back catalog of Disney, Marvel and now Fox movies. Beats the monthly rotating selection approach that HBO Max is taking.
