Raise your hand if you are sick of pizza and think it's been diluted by having it too much in your life and can be had anytime you want it... no one? Is it because you are a fan of it? ok, gotcha.

Sounds like Disney+ is having a lot of technical problems on launch day.

I subscribed for a month and logged on early in the morning without any issues...but as the day went on I started getting connection issues, interface issues, audio bugs etc...

Episode 1 of The Mandalorian was very good IMO. I’m glad, because it looks like one of the few new pieces of content I might like. Good start.

I also watched early this morning, seemed to work fine at 2-3am lol.

I did notice something strange while watching Capt Marvel only. There seemed to be an HDVision/HDR10 encoding issue which made scenes switch white balance quite jarringly. Streaming off Fire TV 4k stick, and I know my cables/equipment is capable. Later on, I have to restart my Fire stick to view an episode of the newer content (Mandalorian, Avengers, Marvel), but works fine with older content (Avatar). Since the system went down, I have not had the opportunity to troubleshoot.

The movie is the same but there are more deleted scenes in the extras than the Blu-ray had. Including some much talked about ones.

Seems that Verizon has decided to screw me over regarding the 1-year-free Disney+ promotion. Although I have an unlimited wireless plan, it's an older plan without the word "Unlimited" in the name, so therefore of course I don't qualify. The closest comparable "Unlimited" plan that has the same features as my current unlimited plan will cost $25 more per month. No thank you.

the fine print is always a buzzkill...I did hear that you need to have a specific plan that starts ~$50 to qualify

Someone said the Star Wars movies are in 4k. Is this true?

I'm hoping for season 4 of Daredevil since Marvel disassociated itself with Netflix. But season 4 needs to be as dark and gritty as the first 3 seasons, not watered down just because it's Disney.

Apparently. 4k with Dolby Vision and Atmos. Still the Special Edition versions, unfortunately.

I believe Disney has said that some of the characters from the Netflix shows may make appearances in other Marvel properties (either movies or TV shows), but that the Netflix series themselves are done and will not be continued.

they are all in 4K/DV but they include more changes to the movies...apparently George Lucas approved these changes before the Disney sale so we once again have some tweaks to the visual effects and story...there are around 4-5 changes in this new version...

Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin

" This film has been modified from its original version. It has been edited for content. "

What, are they using the Tv edited version ?

In a few of the other older movies, I checked out, the PQ is not all that great. Most suffer from a darker heavier contast or in some cases the edges are darker than the rest of the picture. One had massive grain problems.

With all the reported tech issues, I'm feeling very happy with my decision to wait at least until all episodes of The Mandalorian have dropped before subscribing to Disney+.

I still buy the occasional movie but I'm not buying into this. When they ditched the Osborne Christmas lights in Orlando to put up Star Wars garbage I was disenfranchised. If you never got to see the display it's a shame. Was very well done and always enjoyed it with the family. There's a lost word on Disney, " Family "

All the current Marvel TV shows are cancelled and I think they've even declared them non-canon at this point. They will all be rebooted eventually.

Interesting. There doesn't seem to be any consistency on their content policy. There were reports that Dumbo was edited but that turns out to not be true. There is simply a disclaimer in the description.

And in the Extras for Avatar there is a separate "family" version.

I have a question as to how you skipped ahead. I am viewing via an AppleTV 4K using a Harmony remote. I am unable to find a way to skip forward or backward. Could you be specific on your equipment and what you did to skip.

using the Apple TV 4K Siri remote...during playback of a show or movie press the Pause/Play button to pause the movie...then use the track pad to move as far forward or backwards as you want and then press the Pause/Play button to play at that particular point...to cancel your FF/REW and return back to where you were previously just hit the Menu button...most movies show you a pop up image as well as you are FF/REW...doing it this way is much better and faster then using the track pad by itself as it's too slow

you can also use the Siri voice command to rewind/fast forward- "skip 20 minutes ahead"...or "rewind 40 minutes"...but I don't like using Siri for that and much prefer the method I described above

My kids LOVE The Three Caballeros, which is a bit frustrating because it is so awfully dated - bought it for them from Amazon with free digital credits a few years back. I'm excited about a new version for them. They have ridden the ride at Epcot probably 30+ times, many of them back to back. I can almost sing the song from memory. Three happy chappies, in snappy serapes!

I record some Disney shows for them on Tivo but I hate playing them for them because they are full of ads for toys and merch they just don't need. Ad-free Disney is worth every penny. How long before they decide to add in advertising, though?

Can you believe Phantom Menace is 20 years old this year? You have sold me, Duel of the Fates will be played at reference volume tonight!

I got your method to work with the Siri remote. I got my Harmony to back up but it is very slow, frame by frame. I like that I can use Siri to go immediately back to the beginning. I’ve noticed that the Disney+ app will remember where you were if you stop in the middle of the program but it doesn’t have an option to start over.

I doubt ads will be inserted in the foreseeable future as Disney+ goes head to head with the likes of Netflix, HBO Max, etc. But I could see them going to a tiered model at some point like the Disney-owned Hulu, where you have to pay double the monthly fee if you don't want ads.

it actually has a 'Play from Beginning' and 'Resume' button but it's been acting weird all day...sometimes it's there and sometimes it disappears

Attack of the Clones looks really impressive in 4K/Dolby Vision...why isn't Avatar in 4K?...did James Cameron say No?...there's also a separate family friendly version of Avatar available...I thought the original Avatar was family friendly

We considered NOT getting this service BECAUSE there's a child in the house.

I always hated the Disney channel because of their shameless and heavy handed marketing.

Are we sure they don't already? Seems kind of cheap when compared to other streaming services.

I remember when Hulu first added their pay level of service. I signed up right away so I could get rid of those damn commercials and stream on the XBOX 360 so I could watch on the TV, figured it was worth it.
Turned out it was just LESS commercials not zero commercials. Also my shows for some reason at the time couldn't stream on the XBOX due to licensing issues.
I cancelled immediately and never used that service again.
