It's rumored now that Fubo and Altice have announced, but nothing official. The second it IS official, you'll see it [email protected]'s chart and in the first post of this thread.

I can, but I'm not sure where you want it. Super Bowle? Advance Discussion Threade? 4KE?

I think they mistakenly think it's supposed to be "LIVE", not realizing that refers to the SB # (54)...

Fox sports app not showing 4K badge for wildcard game

My ROKU fox sports app is not showing the badge for 4K or HDR for the upcoming saints-Vikings wildcard game on Sunday. Does this mean no 4K playoff games?

It was never announced that the playoff games would be 4K, just the Super Bowl. There has been some wishfull speculation though.

Not necessarily - the guide/listings don't usually show the 4KHDR tag until day of, and often within a few hours of the game.

That being said, considering Fox has announced the SB in 4K but hasnt mentioned the playoffs at all, its a good bet the Fox playoff games wont be.

So will there be proper HDR? I will be streaming on my apple tv and I know HDR for the Thursday night games were an issue. Is all of that fixed now?

At this point the Apple TV does not have Fox Sports in HDR while the Roku 4Ks and Firestick 4K does.... That might change, maybe?, between now and then.

I thought it was because fox used HLG and not HDR10 and that was the main issue. I last watched a 4k NFL stream like 2 months ago or so.

There is "proper HDR" - whether or not its playing through on the ATV4K is another issue.

There are 6 4KHDR streamed NCAA BB games between now and the SB (on the 8th, 9th, 15th, 17th, 23rd and 25th) - you should make sure you have the latest tvOS version/revision and FS app before each of those games and try each out to see if they are in 4KHDR.

Otherwise, it might be worth it to snag a Roku4K/Fire4K device (for $25-50) since they are known to be working in 4KHDR with the FS app...

No, the FS app uses HDR10 - it was assumed it was going to/needed to use HLG because the MVPDs were getting/using HLG feeds, but obviously Fox decided to convert to HDR10 (probably for better/broader device compatibility).

In anticipation of the Super Bowl 4K stream, I installed the FoxNow app on my Firestick 4K, created a profile, and attempted to watch several Fox broadcast football games via FoxNow. Even though the games were on the Fox off-the-air channel and not on FoxSports, FoxNow still demanded my TV provider. As I cut the cord in 2010 and only have antenna tv, I don't have a provider. Is the Super Bowl stream also going to be restricted to only cable/satellite customers?

As per my previous post, the FoxSports SB site indicates you can watch the SB for free when you create a profile:

"Watch the Super Bowl in 4K Ultra HD when you create a profile

Stream the game in UHD and HDR for FREE on FOXSports.com or the FOX Sports App."

https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/super-bowl-2020

No other free content viewing is mentioned or implied or suggested (though it was probably worth a shot to see if creating a profile allowed it). You'll just have to load the stream via the FS app on SB Sunday at/after 1pm ET (when their 4KHDR coverage starts) to see if FS makes good on their promise...

Ok - will wait until the Super Bowl airs to see if this works. BTW - based on the info in the above link, it is unclear whether you can stream this with the FoxNow app. Some of the text implies you need both the FoxNow and the FoxSports apps, elsewhere it says or. Guess I'll find out on Super Bowl Sunday. Thank you for the response.

at 8:30pm eastern time tonight (Jan 8) on FS1:

the fox sports app guide on firestick 4K indicates the basketball game will be available in "4K HDR"

the fox sports app guide on Apple TV 4K indicates the basketball game will be available in "4K UHD"

might be a good way to test out your setups before the Super Bowl.

I tried to add the FoxSports App to my LG television's onboard apps and couldn't do it. Just wasn't available in the "LG store". Couldn't do it with my Sony X800 BD player either, same reason. And the only other streaming device I've got is the ATV 4K.

So, I guess I'm not going to be able to see the SB in HDR (or the NCAA Championship game on Monday either) unless I add another streaming device like the Firestick 4K?

You'll get it in 4K with the ATV4K just not HDR (not unless and until Apple/FoxSports can sort/fix the HDR issues with a tvOS/FS app update etc).

You can get Roku/Fire 4K devices for $25-50 at Amazon.com/Wal-Mart/etc...

Yeah, I know they're relatively cheap. That's not really the point. I just don't want to add any more complexity to an already highly complex system. I spent $150 on the ATV because I thought it had "everything", and would be the only streamer I would need. I figured my LG TV OS would fill in any of the app-gaps, but that's apparently not the case.

Apple needs to work this out.

I have a new Sony 65x950g android TV. I added the apps via the TV's Google Play Store. Shouldn't need external player. I assume/hoping I will be able to play the 4k stream through the SONY, right?

Sony XBR65X950G / Denon AVR-X1200W- 5.1.2 Atmos / 2019 Shield TV /
Samsung 65KS8000 / Fire TV Stick 4k

No. Need a 4K Roku/Fire/ATV device:

https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/super-bowl-2020

"Q: Which devices stream the Super Bowl in 4K?

Fire TV requires app v3.20, Fire TV (GEN 2 and 3), Fire TV Edition & Stick 4K models. Apple TV 4K (Apple TV GEN 5), Apple TV app v3.16 and tvOS 12 or above. Roku requires app v3.16 or above, Roku Premiere, Roku Premiere+, Roku Streaming Stick+, Roku Ultra 4K/UHD TV models with Roku OS built-in."
