They expand their focus a little for the 4 Majors to -- gasp! include other players! -- but even there the first storyline is always whether Tiger is playing well, what his chances are, etc.

Best thing that could happen to golf is if he just retired and the sports media landscape was forced to move on & focus on the other good, young players.

BTW, congrats to Adam Scott! One of the really good guys on Tour. He's been such a good player for so long it's surprising he's only won 14 PGA tournaments.
Even Golf Channel and the tournament broadcasters spend too much on Tiger when he is in the field. All week they were so focused on him on Golf Central, I just FF through most of to see if there is any real golf news. For many years I've said that they are doing a disservice to themselves to not focus on other players when they have a captive audience. Golf tournaments have always been about the leaders that week unless Tiger is playing, then they have to show every shot he hits during their broadcast window then interview him when he is done. But I guess that is the way it goes in sports you either love or hate the long time success stories. I barely watch the PGA Tour anymore, just like Koepka, I focus on the Majors.

Adam Scott like many players live and die by how they putt. There is a small margin of just a couple of shots a round between going home early and collecting a big paycheck.

Tiger definitely gets casual fans to tune in...but they need to relax with the wall-to-wall Tiger coverage when he's not in contention...and of course after Tiger finished in last place this weekend he started up with the excuses- his back, his neck, his knee etc...he needs to just admit he played poorly and stop with the excuses...at least he actually played the entire tournament and didn't withdraw

That's the thing I came away with (69-73-76-77), considering all things Messiah at Golf Channel and the networks.

I agree TT just relax and see what pizza toppings the wife wants on her half of the pizza.

Maybe fire up the sous vide and make a delicious steak.

Are you still in good standing on the team?

I'm pulling for your guy but it seems like everything I predict comes true these days.

Time to be prepared. 100% percent or bust.

We will see if NBC has better camera work than CBS. They really lost flight of the ball on the weekend.

Throw in macro blocking and Jim Nance CBS has it all.

Tony Romo would be the trifecta.

Relying on flight-tracking crutch hasn't helped. Good camera work's declined drastically with retirements, along with uncaring production and direction. Surprised unmanned towers haven't become commonplace. That's one of the next steps, no doubt.

The thing I bemoan the most is the gradual decline of the face-on camera view of these guys swinging the club. It's nearly 100% behind the player and the line now. Why? They don't show the flight of the damn ball anyway. It always looks like it squirts off the right side of the screen, like a cold shank, and then it's out of the picture immediately.

But in truth, I've been complaining about that for decades. Golf telecasts used to have a healthy mix of all kinds of different angles of the golfers' swings, including plenty of face-on shots. Now, the only time you see a face-on view is for the 2 or 3 times a telecast they go to the Konica Minolta Purolator Oil Filter Fed-Ex Kraft Macaroni Swing Vision Camera.

I guess it's easy for all your picks to become true when you never actually make any picks...then after the fact you claim that you had all the picks correct...no wonder 70% of people are blocking you ...wait...if 70% have you blocked it reminds me of the old saying- if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?

Good. It's a crummy idea that needs to die on the vine, as Greg Norman's similar attempt did many years ago. All it can do is weaken both the PGA and European tours and devalue their tournaments.

The most famous putter in golf.

Tommy Fleetwood said when he played with Tiger for the first time. I couldn't stop staring at it.

"In 1999, Woods started using the Scotty Cameron Newport 2 GSS (German Stainless Steel) prototype putter that he currently uses today. It’s quite possibly the most famous putter in golf, and it would surely go for at least 8 figures if it were to have ever hit an auction table."

OMG! Rickie Fowler married Allison Stokke last October. If you don't know or remember who she is, she became an internet phenom when pictures started circulating of her pole vaulting when she was 17 back in 2007. Nice shot, Rickie. Nice shot.

"Are fans unfairly critical of golf coverage on TV?"

You constantly hear, “He’s one of the greatest ballstrikers I’ve seen,” or “This really is a ballstriker’s golf course.” Can I just check, who is widely regarded as a poor ballstriker? I thought being a good ballstriker was kinda a prerequisite to being a professional golfer.

This thread is kinda like the commercial where I play a golfer on TV.

According to their statistics, 55% of golfers break 100. Here is the breakdown according to their study: Average score: Under 80 – 5%

But "The Hack" sure looks like a hack.

Azinger said something on the telecast yesterday about how Reed has an "official" response to one of those cheating episodes that is always at the ready if he's asked about it (can't remember the exact term he used). But if there are more instances as Kostis said (and I believe him), you know his fellow pros have to hate the guy. He's got to be bad chemistry on the U.S. international teams. Unfortunately, they can't keep him off if he earns his way on.

Does DeCham cheat too? I thought his issue was slow play...? In that case, the answer is easy. I hate cheaters, whether on the golf course or in real life (like, say, investments). Another reason why I can't stand Mickelson either.
